Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 | Owners 16 month review.

  • Whilst out for a ride in the Lake District, I thought I would share a few thoughts, on my Interceptor 650, after 16 months of ownership. I also mention the modifications I have carried out, and the reasons for them. The weather could have been better, but there are still some scenic rear camera clips to enjoy. I hope you enjoy the video, and consider leaving a comment.
    Thanks for watching.

    Sorry about the lame ending, I got my timings all wrong. I did quite a lengthy summing up further down the road I was about to join here (the A591 towards Kendal), not realising that the battery had expired, doh !

    Did you had any issues with rust?

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  3 роки тому +2

      No rust whatsoever on mine, but I do keep it in tip top condition. No doubt, if uncared for, as with any motorcycle, there maybe corrosion, but I honestly haven’t seen any with rust. If the polished alloy casings aren’t kept on top of, they can fade, and even fur up, but you have to really neglect them for that to happen. Hope this answers your question. Cheers.

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield thank you very much for this response sir. I live in northern Italy and winter is a very wet season in here, that's why I'm asking about rust, but I do have a garage so that's not a big of issue. Can't wait to buy this bike

      @@stoneroses9350 our summers can be very wet lol. Some people use ACF50 to protect the metal work (loads of vids on UA-cam). I tend to just spray a WD40 type product onto a cloth, and wipe over brightwork/frame etc. I do however put mine away in a shed over the winter months. The Interceptor is truly a brilliant bike, I am sure you won't be disappointed. If you haven't seen his channel already, Stuart Fillingham has some very informative videos, worth a look. Bought my Ravishing Red in June 2019 in San Diego California. It's a 60's/70's British bike without the leaks, vibrations or malfunctions.
    Well over 22,000 miles and a burned out tail light bulb so far. 100 mph. 75 mpg to a US gallon. Runs perfectly from the desert to over 10,232 ft.

    Nice video, I'm thinking of buying a new Interceptor, I've currently got a Honda CB300r, which I got about 10 months ago after not riding for 28 years, so I'm a born again biker. Never been to the Lake District, Maybe with a new bike I'd get out of London a bit more.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 роки тому +1

      Best thing I can suggest, is to take one out for a test ride. I don’t know much about the little Honda, but you may find the Interceptor quite a bit heavier to manoeuvre. Out on the open road, you barely notice the weight. You definitely need to get out of London, there are some cracking roads to explore. All the best, and thanks for the comment.

    This was great for giving me a feel of the interceptor 650. do you think that the RE long fly shield would provide better wind protection, or would it just result in more buffeting?

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 роки тому

      I think the taller screen would just result in buffering, as it is not tall enough to offer any wind deflection/protection. Some owners have fitted full retro wind shields (handlebar mounted), of the type you look through, but I don't think they suit the bike (personal choice). Glad you found the video useful. I was going to mention fairing options when I came across the two cyclists on the pass, then forgot to carry on with it.🙄.

      Thank you so much for your kind comments. As you can gather, I do love my Interceptor, she has everything for me. I am sure you will notice a massive difference compared to the HD, it will feel like you are riding a moped 😂. The scorpions, although not the cheapest, have the most pleasing note with the baffles in place, but if you want more of a throb, just remove them. It is a bit of a fiddly job, but still only about 5 mins. As for the seat, some fit the one off the GT650, as they say it is more comfortable. I just prefer the look of the Interceptor seat. I truly hope that you enjoy your test ride, try to take the bike for an extended ride, not just once around the block. That way you will get a true feel for the little beauty. Let me know how you get on. All the best, and thanks again.
