This video was so helpful! I just ordered a custom VDS and wasn't sure about the size comparison between unwidened and widened Seniors. Thank you!

The red Gillio.... oh my. I don't think I could ever let that out of my sight!! So pretty. Very nice video, lots of information, and with a video, it makes the sizes really clear!

    Hi
The non-widened senior touch me VDS were only ever designed for 20 mm rings 25mm are a recent addition and have meant the redesign to allow for them and for A6 size inserts. Non-widened were also designed for non-A6 inserts that are about 10mm narrower than A6 and also a slightly different height.
Additionally the Gillio A6 rings are 23mm not 25mm, hence why I have changed mine to Krause rings from VDS to have better rings and slightly bigger ones too.
When comparing the relative sizes I tend to open the organiser and lay it flat on the desk and measure the overall width edge to edge. Doing it this way I have found that the new VDS Senior is about 5mm greater in overall width compared to the Gillio A6 when open and flat on the desk.
I have a non-widened Senior with 20mm rings and like you say with A6 paper you have to use top tabs, but it is surprising how much the 20 mm rings will hold, although now I have filled out my set up into the 25mm size!!!
    I hope that helps
    Steve

Thanks Steve and Rebecca! You both have very useful reviews on A6 versions! Do either of you know if customized VDS Senior 20mm still fits A6 paper or should I go with the widen A6 option when customizing?

It will still fit A6 paper, but if you use side tabs they will be very close to the edge of the binder or get bent by the pen. So if you want unwidened and A6 paper, top tabs is the way to go.

This video was super helpful!! I love my Gillio A6 and was curious about the 2 versions of the Senior (widened and regular) that VDS had. Though I love the customization that VDS offers...after seeing this comparison, I am glad I chose the Gillio! It's 23" rings are the perfect size...but it's width feels comfortable to hold in the hand...and I greatly appreciated your comments particularly "holding the rings" vs "holding the middle" of the planner!!

Thank you for the helpful video! I'm trying to decide between a Gillio A6 or a Janet VDS A6. Did you do any custom pocket configurations on your VDS Janet? I know you prefer the VDS size wise, but I'm wondering if you have pocket preference between one or the other? Thank you!

The JL VDS I bought second hand and had the standard pocket configuration. I'm pretty laid back as far as pocket configuration goes. I do enjoy having the full length back pocket but it's not a deal breaker.
