I hope you know that because of this video, I cancelled my original order and used your sketch to order one almost exactly like yours (sans the large back pocket - because of your comment - and the extra tall pocket in the back). This is just so stunning and when I saw that wallet insert, I just had to call and get it for myself. Thank you so much for posting. I will soon have my dream planner because of you, though my bank account is flinching a bit because, as you say, this isn’t cheap. 😂

VDS is definitely my favorite hands down. If I stay in the discbound I may get a custom codex to slide it in eventually.

I love your design! I've been drawing up designs for 4 months with the intention of getting a medium planner from VDS (I've only bought Pocket and A6 to date). I might take a couple of your ideas on board for mine - especially the slip in wallet and pen loop. That's terrific. Thanks for sharing and may you and your custom planner enjoy many years together.
This is so nice. I like all of the custom features. Funny.....I have this exact color combination! I'm not crazy about the croco color. It looks almost lavender to me. I guess it's just personal preference. Love love love the bar I snaps though! Thank you for sharing!
I guess it does have a bit of a lavender hue, but it reads a bit taupe to me as well. I wanted something that was both feminine and professional, so I really liked this combo.

Cinthya Ruth Bronfman It was completely custom. :) i sketched out what I wanted and emailed it to them. I saw the wallet on someone else’s channel and they posted something similar on the Van Der Spek fans Facebook group like they might list them in the future on their website.
I Love your planner. I actually watched this video when it was new but now that I am planning a custom VDS I rewatched your video for ideas. A few questions, how does your croco feel? Is it soft and luxurious? And how does the planner feel with the stiffener? Are you glad you got the stiffener compared to not having a stiffener? Love your videos, TFS!!
I think the croco leather is more smooth and squishy than soft. To me, the touch me leather is soft and super pliable. It’s definitely a different feel - the croco has more substance to it, so I don’t think it needs stiffener like the touch me leather might. I looked at the sketch I sent, and I didn’t have them add stiffener. I think with the back pocket, the planner was stiff enough without it.

Is the Barbie Napa a pink or peach color? In the video, it looks peach but on the website it looks very pink.
I definitely think it’s on the peachy side of pink. There’s another pink available that is a lot closer to what most people think of as pink.
I love this setup! Do you know if the Van der Spek customs will fit the Personal Wide inserts? I desperately want to order, but I need the space of the Personal Wide.
+Plansational I don’t think they will as they are. You could always ask to see if it could be widened since it’s custom made. Petra (the main contact for the shop) could definitely let you know. I know they widen the other sizes.

I hate to say it depends, but...it depends. The base planner is 155 euros, and the add ons (each pocket, extra pen loop, etc) range between 10 and 50 euros each. You can sketch out your design and email it to them, and they send you a quote with everything itemized so you can make a decision about what you do and don't want to keep. They also let you know if there's anything that they're not able to do. (I originally had a slip pocket opening from the right underneath the gusseted pocket, and they weren't able to make that work.) Hopefully that helps! :)
Thank you so so much for this video! I was thinking of getting one in acacia for the exterior and Barbie nappa for the interior, but wasn't sure how they'd really go together. This video helped me so much! Thank you! Does your Barbie nappa get stained/dirty easily? Love your planner, it looks so lush!
It seems to be holding up pretty well so far, and I confess I'm not super careful with it. I don't know that I'd put it on the outside of a planner because of the light color, but for the inside I love it.
Thanks for the advice! I've just ordered samples off the website, didn't know they sent samples, so glad I watched your video before taking the plunge!
+X Samples are the best - not only for the color but the potential durability (and softness!) 😊 you could always subject the sample to different things (pen marks, lotion - any oopses it might encounter) and see how it does.

Can you tell me how the croco feels? Is it soft/smooth? Or more hard/glossy?

I have a touch me as well, and I would say that the tortora croco is stiffer (but still pliable) and very smooth. It's not glossy, though, and definitely not hard. The Touch Me leather is more buttery - very soft, very squishy. You can see my Touch Me planner in my work planner video - ua-cam.com/video/2tyzzpH8Idc/v-deo.html. I got the croco leather because I did want something a little stiffer to write on if I was out and about. My work planner sits on my desk, so having it be able to support me writing unsupported wasn't as important. Hope that helps!

how do you add slip pockets? i dont see an option for that?
I actually emailed in a sketch of what I wanted. The planner I ordered isn’t one you can purchase through the website. If you click the link to my related blog post, you can see the sketch I sent in.

The whole planner and wallet combo was custom made, which is done via email. I have a blog post linked in the description that shows the sketch that I sent them. 😊

Hi, Isabella! Heavily customized planners are ordered via email rather than their website. You email your sketch to website@vdslederwaren.nl and they respond with the price of the customizations. Once you approve, they send an invoice, and then begin making your planner once they’ve received payment. Hope that helps! How much is the cost of this planner in US dollars?
It depends on the conversion rate at the time, but for the leathers and customization I requested, it was about $650.
