Let's not forget that Bruce is a cancer survivor. The man really is a legend.
Throat cancer as well. Had his instrument taken away from it and he stole it back like an absolute legend
Yes Bruce Dickinson is a true British Legend I wish you would have left the band The First Time is a singer or two that they had after him really sucked I am glad that he's back I'm glad that he's survived that cancer is cancer is not an easy thing to survive I lost my sister and my best friend do that that shitt disease I'm just glad that he made it through and you still singing and performing I love Iron Maiden
mickor you cannot say that book of souls or final frontier is written by a band in a rut, theyre vastly different from killers, virtual or even powerslave but you cant compare them, iron maiden are THAT good you cant compare their albums
he is also an airline pilot and once brought brits home that where stranded abroad...he flew a 747 at his own expence to help...iv met him great guy
wish him well, Bruce is perhaps one of the nicest singers out there.
Not only has his voice aged but he recovered from throat cancer, luckily saw them live again at Wembley last year \m/
Came here to say that. Yep, he's a trooper!
What he had wasn't throat cancer, it was in his tongue and was caused by the HPV virus.
yea you can really hear this was during the time he was still recovering
chesus D Saw him on the Legacy of the beast tour and he was on top of his game again. So thankful for having Bruce!
@@Module79L don't lick those skanky groupies.
How many guitars do you need on stage?
Irons : Yes
How many arms does your drummer need?
Def Leppard: One.
Jannik is cool. Glad they kept him when adrian Smith came back
How many bass pedals do you need?
Nicko: one
3 =)
As many as possible
Long career, throat cancer, Olympic (definitely commonwealth) level athlete at fencing 🤺, Airline pilot. Legendary voice
He was also a soldier and I believe he has several degrees including one in history.
And that's just the triangle player ;)
you forgot all around nice guy, and beer enthusiast, partnered with Robinson's to make trooper ale, and sun and steel saki lager...
Wow Bruce is an all rounder
A true Renaissance Man!!
Justin Bieber : I have a private jet
Iron Maiden : Well That's cute....
Flies a Boeing 757 across 13 countries doing 23 shows in 45 days..
Also flies a boeing 747 for the book of souls tour.
No band will ever reach this level of epicness.
Up the Irons!
Justin Bieber: I have a private jet
Maiden: hold my mother fuckin' beer boy
Iron maiden is one of the best bands 🤘
Hahaha🤘🏽
Please refrain from ever mentioning Beiber and Iron Maiden in the same sentence 😉
If you guys are gonna claim to hate pop music
KEEP YOUR REFERENCES UP TO DATE
@@sirderpsalot5784 Bruce can FLY the damn jet
It is a CRIME this band is not already in the Rock 'n Roll HOF
Didn't Bruce say he wouldn't accept?
The Hall is a joke anyway.
Maiden fans (including myself) think they should've been in it 20 years ago. Someone pointed out though is metal really rock n roll or what was created cause rock n roll wasnt good enough?
Matthew Macrow To be fair, Maiden only qualified to be considered 14 years ago. Performers qualify for consideration 25 years after their first record. It may be that for Maiden with Dickinson to qualify, they might only have qualified about 12 years ago.
@@Eagle-eye-pie AFAIK, lineup changes don't matter - it's 25 years from the release of a band/artist's first record.
Metallica got inducted in 2009, and then Rob Trujillo had only been in the band for 6 years.
"There's something so specific about that Iron Maiden guitar sound."
It's how the two guitars have perfectly meshed harmonies, while Harris' bass is providing clanky syncopated rhythm.
What I admire of Bruce is that he doesn't stop running from one side of the stage to the other the whole show... and he still had breath to keep singing.
I seen them and I was right up against the stage and let me tell you, it's two show one of Steve Nico Adrian Janick and Dave doing the music while in the second show of Bruce bouncing around and screaming like he does and I was surprised my neck didn't hurt as much and I didn't get whiplash the next morning from fallowing him 😂
Brucey is unstoppable!
5:25 As someone who's a big fan of Iron Maiden, and who's played guitar for most of his life, I can honestly say that the magic in Iron Maiden's sound is more in their hands than in their gear. Every single member is insanely skilled at their instrument, and their ability to combine all of their individual styles to create a single unified sound is exactly why they're so revered as a band.
And diatonic thirds
As a fellow guitar player, you're spot on with your observation. I grew up on Maiden, Priest, Def Leppard, and AC/DC before hitting the pinnacle of metal with Slayer :) . The amazing thing about Maiden that I learned from covering their songs in the band I was in during high school...is the harmonies between guitars. It's so perfectly synced one plays high and the other low...and VERY difficult to play together (the song itself isn't difficult...it's how tight they are as a band). It took a lot of practice to play this song fairly well (as opposed to Flight of Icarus, Hallowed be Thy Name, etc). They other thing is that they're not married to 4/4 time that you hear in most metal.
Funny thing...the bass player loved playing Steve Harris' bass lines... Of course, the flip side of that he HATED when we played AC/DC. LOL
@@slayer99199 Yeah they had all the guitars mirroring each other playing lead, no rhythm guitars really. That was left up to Steve's galloping bass parts.
@@slayer99199 well said my friend well said Iron Maiden Slayer Judas Priest old ACDC with Bon Scott that was a ship back in the days and you can't forget Mercyful Fate and King Diamond totally fuckingawesome
@@MichaelRCarlson what the fuck are you talking about you can't be a perfect band if you don't have fucking Rhythm and your guitar work and Ian Smith and fucking Dave Murray are fucking Guitar Gods and they have plenty of Rhythm and style to your ship and yes Steve Harris is a base God
Beth has definitely become a great fan of Iron Maiden :-D \m/
And Nightwish :D
english rock is still the best...
Oh don't forget what treasures German and Scandinavian Metal have to offer ;-)
Like every other vocal coaches or reviewers on youtube. Every single ones have become maiden fans.
@@Alexander-ck1up nordic metal is my favorite! sweden and norway def lead the way, but you can't leave out the bands from finland, especially amorphis and children of bodom.
The Trooper was a song about the Charge of the Light Brigade. They are great at historical themes from Britain. Aces High is about the Battle of Britain in WW2, Invader is about the Viking Conquests...really cool subjects.
@bethroars, The Trooper is about the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War. Read Alfred Lord Tennyson's "The Charge of the Light Brigade". Over half of the brigade was killed during the charge.
Nicko Mcbrain is one of the most underrated drummers in the world! Great musician, a legend!
Tuomo Turunen I disagree, I think he gets his due and then some. Up the Irons!
Far from underrated one of the most respected and influential drummers out there.
Every drummer knows the pain of learning run to the hills.
"Run to the Hills" was from the Clive Burr days! Nicko plays it great, too, though. I give Burr the edge over Nicko, but both rule.
Jason Pizzolato ah shit, didn’t know that. My bad,
The flag is bullet-riddled to reflect the theme of the song (The charge of the light brigade/Crimean War). I don't think it's a political statement.
@Phry3 I saw them on this tour, 2011, maybe 2012?
Yes, if anything, this song is quite patriotic. The holes are more a sign of glory than anything negative.
Exactly - it's a song about war, and the Colours would often get battered on the field.
Isnt war a political statement?
Defeating russians in Crimea will always be a political statement (ruskies won that battle, cannons vs horses, but lost the war).
Not only does he still tour in his 60's, he also pilots the band's 747 jet between shows.
Absolute legend
And a world class fencer who got invited to the olympics. He also hosted a train show for a bit on one of the education channels about high speed trains. I randomly saw it one day and was like wtf thats bruce!
@@mikesirman He also started Cardiff aviation (an aircraft maintenance operation)
@@mikesirman did you see the doc he did on spontaneous human combustion...
entertaining stuff
He also writes books for children
Bruce Dickinson Reacts to Vocal Coaches reactions about him, would be a great video
It would go something like this: "Scream for me Beth Roars.....(goes up an octave)...SCREAM FOR ME BETH ROARS!!!!"
Fuck yes.
Bruce would have too much fun doing that
I went to a Maiden gig in Manchester. It was unbelievable how good they are live. It is an experience everyone should have.
Agreed, I've seen them two times for sure, maybe a third, I can't remember anymore lol. All in the last 15 years. The shows are an energetic and amazing experience. I also saw Judas Priest on their anniversary tour for British Steel. And not knocking on either, but Rob Halford put his energy into his voice and presence, both still demanding and amazing. But, at the same age you have Bruce, similarly aged, but he still runs around the stage, does multiple costume changes, and still belts it.
Two different methods that still put on impactful shows.
I went to M.E.N.A to see them and the band was amazing but the sound was down right awful in the arena. It sure wasn't the acoustics because AC/DC were amazing from the mosh pit to the back wall.
Yes he's more controlled now. This past tour he was perfect. Gotta also remember he's way into this gig, running around non stop, all full of energy/action and still maintain his breath and control...Not bad for an old man..
Cancer. Dude beat throat cancer and is singing like he just got older. Legend.
Bruce is truly one of the Legends.
Scarily intelligent and capable in so many different disciplines it's almost unbelievable.
This was from the Maiden England tour in 2012. I was in the crowds in calgary, and it was the most amazing concert I've ever been to. I still remember they started their set with "Moonchild", one of my favourites. Bruce is a role model for singers to aspire to. Cancer survivor. Hes 62, and yet he has his commercial pilots licence (he flies the band's Boeing 747 from city to city for gigs.) Hes never had formal voice training, and yet he can still sing like he does. Nothing but respect for this man! Up the Irons! \m/ \m/
Who needs coffee to wake up in the morning when you can just listen to Iron Maiden , Beth keep the classic metal tune coming!
I'm going to see them in September.
The guitarists have some of the best and simplest uses of harmony in metal. Their ability to play off each other, knowing when to take the lead and when to back off is key to their sound and longevity.
Albuquerque ⁉️
Bruce is a legend, even with his age and after recovered from throat cancer, the guys runs back and forth on the stage holding a huge flag and stay singing at full power! Amazing!
This man has aged like a fine wine. Still a spectacular singer and performer. Love this man and his band, truly. Amazing men, all of them.
Up the irons. Long live the Maiden.
After 35 years still one of my favorite bands. Seen them many times and they are still amazing.
Bruce is amazing... But when Davey smiles my soul smiles. He's my favorite living guitar player.
Ive been travelling around the world and seeing maiden over 80 times. Every concert is legendary.
Saw Iron Maiden last night in LA, great show, Bruce still has the chops to lead a 2 hour rock show....great band, keep it up guys!
This song actually has little to do with politics. It’s about war. Specifically about the Charge of the Light Brigade.
War is political.
War is the ultimate tool of politics.
But the song is about the particular battle and has nothing to do with politics, stop overanalyzing.
@@hv1225 first of all, try to write correctly. Now, I stated that this song has nothing to do with politics not a war. If the song is about war doesn't mean it is about politics. This way, you can draw analogy just to basically anything you want, because it makes no sense thinking that if one thing relates to another, it must relate to other one that last relates to. If you actually start giving me some facts and we are gonna have appropriate intelligent discussion, in down for it. Right now, you just misunderstand what I say (I literally used the easiest language I could) and try to assault or offense me for no reason
The song was only inspired by the poem 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' by Tennyson who wrote it about the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War.
Saw them live, unforgettable ❤️
Thanks Beth, it's always truly amazing to see your glancing eyes and real happiness to things that are great like this. Bruce is definitely a human monster of a singer, human being and entertainer. He is in the 60...that is unbelievable.....running, screaming, singing, entertaining, flying a 747, becoming a honorary Citizen of Sarajevo, author....what else...seeing this video reminds on the Iron Maiden concerts I had the pleasure to visit and later together with my son. It also reminds to not forget to see them again...yes the voice might have changed but it is 1000 times better than anybody would expect, keeping in mind what he made through, i.e. the tongue cancer, and what he is still doing. Thanks Beth, you are amazing and he is a legend, as well as all the others from the band....cheers from Germany
Seeing them live is just incredible. Non stop energy.
you should check Bruce's performance in "The Talisman" in that exact same concert. THAT was epic
Some bands produce great albums, some still can recreate their album sound live, then there's Iron Maiden who does both but adds theatricality into their live shows, meaning that there is an element to enjoy in their show for absolutely anyone to enjoy. Hands down the best band I've seen live.
Best moment of my live was seeing them live in Cape Town. I never thought they would ever come here, blew my mind!
Their shows are always so amazing. Love Iron Maiden! ♥️
Even ignoring that he'll be turning 61 this year, Bruce's voice has aged gracefully. Like you said his timbre has changed, but it's not a deterioration. Most importantly, his energy remains unmatched.
I was fortunate to see Maiden live along with Motorhead and Dio the same evening. What a fucking show that was.
I saw that tour as well in Detroit, Michigan, USA!
@@stevepulford216 Killer show huh? Seeing Ronnie James pop out on stage looking so tiny then knocking out the back of your head with his voice.
One of the best concerts I've ever seen!
@@stevepulford216 Definitely! The night ended poorly as I got so blitzed I shit myself. Ahh the memories.
LMAO
I just saw them a month ago and they’re still on top of their game, and hands one of the best performances I’ve ever seen
This is an excellent recording. I can hear all 3 guitars. These guys are incredible..still. Love them! ♡
guitarists, like singers and other soloists, phrase things in their own way and Maiden have a definite house style. Aidrian Smith is quite blues based, Janick is very much a "let's see what comes out" kind of soloist and Dave Murray is one of the most underrated solo guitarists in metal. flowing style and a perfect sense of melody.
Next time you react to a Maiden song you should wear a Maiden shirt keep up the great work :)
The band’s and crowd’s energies make their concerts an experience like no other bands. Saw them twice and blown away both times.
Iron Maiden is the definition of TIGHT... Musicianship, vocally and amazingly crowd participation, their music among their huge fan base is so well known that the crowd of many thousands are so dialed in there in perfect time. It's incredible...
I definitely think you should check out Cemetary Gates by Pantera. That has some incredible clean and harsh vocals.
For sure
You want to hear some clean vocals listen to the fucking King Diamond that's incredible quotes for you and Rob Halford of Judas Priest that you guys are awesome
Yeah. Bruce !
Please react to "Avantasia - The Scarecrow - Live from Wacken 2007 The Flyng Opera" 😬
Great voices and an eargasmic high note

Yessss the lack of avantasia on reaction channels is killing me
Been waiting for (it seems like) ever for someone to do a reaction video for that performance.
@@masi1167 indeed 💔

I have seen them live and they are amazing. They are a must see.
Hi Beth, i was in the audience that day... and it was crazy, what an amazing show they present. Well, this video was recorded when they came for the last time to Chile, and this october they are coming back again and i will be there feelling that energy and drinking their " Trooper beer", cheers!!!!
Iron Maiden is one of the few metal bands I can turn up the volume and it never gets too loud, which for me happens with some other bands
IMO Bruce knocks out “Run to the Hills” with an unmatched vocal range and sound.
Any of the songs off number of the beast he shows off his range. One of my favourite Bruce tracks isnt even a maiden one it's off tyranny of souls
Nah sorry he has never been as good as rob halford in range
@ Alex they are both iconic metal singers who have their own unique sound. Range should never be used as a way to indicate how good a singer one is. How well someone works within their range is most important and both of those guys can do that very well. Who you prefer is a matter of opinion....
Rob's range might be good, but his cords aged much worse than Bruce, I still like both but it's obvious that Dickinson is in a much better shape vocally for last decade. And I like Priest more than Maiden. Also, REALLY?! Nicko McBrain over Scott Travis?.. Both men are legends but come on, Painkiller and onwards, Judas Priest has better rhythm section. I love Blaze Bayley and Paul Di'Anno eras of Maiden though.
@@KasumiRINA yes, nicko is technically better, but maidens music isnt"painkiller" aggresive and that doesnt mean he is better. Ill give you the fact bruce, considering the cancer scare, is in a much healthier state than halford currently but not until recently was he that way. I feel like bruce is a bright light versus halford who is more about the image and industrialism. Not taking any thing away from either band, i love them both so much.
Beth Darling I absolutely adore you and your reviews!
Hands down the best band you will ever see live. I would go see them tomorrow if I could. I just saw them last year and they are as good as ever.
Hi Beth! I've been watching your channel for a considerable time, and I'd like to tell you that I do enjoy watching your reacting videos it's just amazing. I'd love to leave a maiden suggestion here of a song that I personally think that is actually maybe one of the greatest Dickinson's vocal performance ever in terms of vocal techniques. The song is called "Infinite Dreams" from their very classic album "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" that was released in 1988. I hope to see you reacting to this one on your channel as soon as possible.
You should really react to the Talisman from en vivo! Probably Bruce's best performance in the 2000s
I 2nd this
Rock in rio 2001, best performance in 2000 if you ask me.
I was at this show, live at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago de Chile...absolutely amazing performance, Bruce shined throughout the show.
I will be there again this year, can’t wait!!
I have been to a couple of iron maiden concerts, and its so good!
You should do The Talisman live in En Vivo, that was a recent bruce performance that was even better than the studio version!
This is from the En Vivo tour prior to Bruce’s cancer and subsequent treatment.
It would be interesting to see you look at something from either “The Book of Souls” or “Legacy of the Beast” tours as they are post cancer treatment. Bruce was extremely concerned about the possibility of the radiation treatments frying his vocal cords and he worked very closely with his doctor’s to ensure minimal damage.
The thing with Maiden and touring is that they have no intention of slowing down, in fact they seem to be touring more than ever now.
After the throat cancer his voice recovered very well, maybe it sounds now better than before as you watched the recent tour before corona came in
Good job as always Beth. Great commentary.
Hi, Beth, I'm from Mexico and I've been listening rock and roll since ever and I'm a big fan of your channel because I think you respect and enjoy singers we have been listening forever. Thanks.
Bruce is an amazing soul. Good reaction!
Have you reacted to Mercyful Fate / King Diamond yet? If not, it should def be on your list.
The Trooper has always been quite "shouty", maybe try something like Sign of the Cross or The Clansman.
Saw them live in 2019 and although they don't move around the stage as much as the old days, they still sounded fantastic and put on an amazing show. I lost my voice for a day or two from singing along, so credit due to singers who can keep it going.
"En Vivo", Chile 2010...I was there! I had tears in my eyes while singing along...Iron Maiden IS the soundtrack of my life...UP THE IRONS!!

I love Iron Maiden. Their songs are one of the first songs I can remember in my life. I sadly have never been on a concert and would love to.
But to be honest, while everyone says that Bruce is getting better with getting older and stuff like that, for me it feels like he sounds like he always is out of breath.
But that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to go to a concert and also it's so amazing that they can still perform so amazing and that Bruce can still sing like that after everything
@Beth Roars: As a Guitar player for 27 years, aspiring somewhat trained vocalist inspired by Bruce Dickinson, and avid Maiden fan, this band is amazing, they are the reason i'm still here, and now I get to share them with my Daughter when we go see them in August. It is from trying to mimic Bruce that i've grown my voice drastically just trying to be able to sing theirs and others songs, also James La Brie of Dream Theater which i saw you reacted to Under A Glass Moon (from the album Images and Words, which also changed my life and i credit for still being here as well).
