- Gollum, an important character from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit novels, is getting his own movie. The film, produced by Warner Bros., will have Peter Jackson as the producer and Andy Serkis as the director. But why did they decide to make a movie about Gollum? What kind of story does Gollum have that is worth telling in detail? And what is The Hunt for Gollum?

I use many different sources for the visuals I incorporate. It's not always clear who created some of the works or many individuals share the same work under their own name. Therefore I only credit those I am certain about. If your work is in the video, please get in touch and I will gladly add your name to the list.

I'd like to see it. Especially Andy Serkis' vision of his character's development.
Thank you Dragon 🙋
I am so excited for this!
I love any and all things Gollum Gollum related 🥰
Tolkien said nothing about Aragorn feeling badly about his ancestor’s failure to destroy the ring. Nor did Aragorn have any animosity toward his family. He was a ranger and rangers were there to defend the people of Middle Earth from Sauron’s evil doings as he said at the Council of Elrond.
Elrond had told Isildur to destroy the ring but Isildur could not at the time. They never went to Mt Doom as it shows in the movie. Isildur went and looked into the history of the ring and then decided that it would be best to give it to the “Wise Ones,” meaning the elves. He was on his way to do that when he was attacked and killed by Orks.
Isildur was not the evil person that Jackson made him out to be and Aragorn wanted to be king. It was the only way that he could marry the elf of his dreams, Arwen. Elrond had told him that he could only marry his daughter if he was king of both realms.
Jackson changed the personalities of every one of the heroes of that story for the worst. He claimed that the heroes that Tolkien had wrote about were “too good” and he could not present them that way. Sad.
What will Jackson do this time? Since he has no real story to go by (not that he would) I would suppose that he will come up with all kinds of un-Tolkien stuff just like he did for the other movies. Everyone that was involved with that movie is over twenty years older now. Andy can be digitalized but would they do that with the others or get look alike? I’m afraid to see to tell you the truth.
I am just happy you didnt make a fake trailer like everyone does on youtube. I am pretty pumped for this gollum movie and peter jackson will be making it
Fart Hammer 😆
Oh my god your name kicks ass! 🧙
A new Gollum movie only works if they show him as little as possible. The focus needs to be on the "instigators" on both sides: Gandalf & Aragorn vs. Sauron, et al.
If they approach it like a "whodunit" - something akin to a Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson vs. Moriarty, with Gollum being a McGuffin, they could turn it into a huge detective story that I think really works.
Nothing like it has ever been filmed. It would be an entirely new genre...
Yes, I think that Gollum deserves his own movie. I believe that each of the characters deserve their own movie.
It will possibly be a good film if you consider that they will tell, explain and show many areas from the second age and maybe from first also. I don't think they will put too much focus on Golum himself, but more on what he has gone through, which will provide answers to many things that we might not have seen coming or which will give a meaningful answer from all the films from Lotr and hobbit. Hope we also get a bit shown in relation to sauron prime and other things. As long as Peter Jackson is making it, I will remain calm.
I really don´t know why we need more exposition of Gollum. We already have a great depiction from his game: Gollum.
Well atleast your not doing what everyone else is doing and Saying it's the worst thing in existence
@@gabrielchastain6091 I was being sarcastic.
@@ImNotLuthien QwQ
@gabrielchastain6091 it's pretty low quality on all fronts, but I see it having a memeable charm that will make it a cult classic in the years to come.
@@Chef_Alpo I love the game and I haven't even played it
The music is emotional and the gameplay is fun
I think it's ok for games to have older graphics not everything has to be top notch
The gameplay is unfortunately glitchy as hell though and the game can get quite repetitive
What's not ok is charging 60-80 dollars for it when it's not that level of quality 💀☠️
The Gollum movie has now been told in this video!!! No need for a movie now 👍
the dvd extras for this one will be gold as usual. they are filming how the pre-production is going right now for sure.
Making a big story about what was not elaborated nor written by Tolkien
Ignore much of what was written (Tom Bombadil, Goldberry and the Barrow wights)
Gollum is a great character and I hope the movie turns out well. But I would be interested in a movie about Aragorn’s youth.
They are just "milking" the franchise. That's what they did with the "Hobbit" when they stretched it out to three movies. That said, I'll still probably see the Gollum movie.
There isn't enough information about the pursuit of gollum in the books for a single film yet alone two!
Fan fiction, hopefully I will eat my words and it will be good but I highly doubt it.
Gollum was a polarizing character who at the same time was both evil, but sympathetic because his evil was due to the corruption of the ring.
He's also, at least the way I see it, the ultimate hero of the story. He got Frodo and Sam into Mordor, and in the end, when Frodo succumbed to the ring, it was Gollum's attack on him that caused the end of the ring
Having said that, they will mostly be making this up from scratch so.... not sure how this will turn out, but at least the source material will be taken seriously, unlike the Rings of Power
Gollum was imprisoned for eight years in the Barad-Dûr? Brutal
After Rings of Power....Im not so hyped. Plus with the myriad of other tales that could be told like the kinslaying and wars of beleriand this feels meh
Rings of power isnt made by peter jackson and writers of lord of the rings movies
@@prodigalfraudaddy-es1gl Yeah, but still the subject matter is still odd to me with the other things in the lore
Explain to me! Because I’m struggling to understand why Aragorn brought Gollum all the way in to the dangerous Mirkwood while he could chose Lothlorien which is more well protected and safe? In addition the power of Galadriel could also probably heal Gollum?
Whilst TLOTR is a cinematic masterpiece, we all remember what Jackson did with the hobbit. Is this gong to be another soulless cash grab filled with characters that didn’t exist and extended way longer than it needs to be?
I thought they obly attached his name to it but they were directed by soneone else
Would have preferred a trilogy on Thorongil (young Aragorn)
yeah dragon gullom should have his own movie and maybe see the narzgul and orcs go after gullom to
The hunt for more money
Hope we can get a Morgoth movie
And yet Peter Jackson made three bad films out of a single Hobbit volume. That should give everyone pause.
Gollum’s story is interesting but not interesting enough for a movie. If they made an anthology series one episode could be about him but that’s it.
They should make a movie about the War against the wainriders and the founding of Rohan.
No I think it's an interesting story. I just don't think they can it any good. Maybe an 80's AI film could do it. I like your idea
it's 2024. Maybe he'll marry an orc for diversity
What is The Hunt for Gollum? It's a cash grab. There, simple and easy.
TAKE MY MONEY
If they wanted a cash grab, they’d go back to their roots
Gollum is so boring of a character. No faith in movies today.
There are better Tolkin novels to write about, it will flop like the game
Please dear god don't make this. It's just gonna be silly
Such a odd decision the amount of lore from the entire history of middle earth they choose to turn the "hunt for gollum" into a movie the recasting of Aaragon will not sit well with alot of lotr fans amongst others
They picked Gollum because he’s got the most brains and money so he could fund it and get the story right
