    For the brush roll measurements you need to bear in mind the circumference of the roll, a roll twice the diameter will have twice the surface speed at the same RPM so the new fluffy roll will probably have a significantly slower speed at the point of floor contact. Might be worth crunching those numbers?

    When testing the spins of the Fluffy v11 (1210 RPM) and v15 (1190 RPM) from minute 27:44, you have to take into account that the circumference of the v11 Fluffy is bigger than the v15 (right?), So it travels more distance with each lap . If we compared 2 cylinders with circumferences of 20 cm and 10 cm at 1000 RPM, the first travels at (1000 * 20) 12Km / h and the second (1000 * 10) 6Km / h.
    If you look at the difference in RPM (~ 20) + the difference in circumference, you can probably see the difference in speed by eye.
    Personally I think the lower speed on hard floors is more efficient. Too high RPM in the Fluffy brush could throw larger pieces of dirt away before being caught by the suction.

    Try this - can you perform a particle emission calculation? Whereby you place said device over the exhaust and determine the quantity of particles emitted from the “HEPA” filter? From what I’ve understood, the Dyson vacuums are sealed fairly well. However, the v7, v8’s exhaust had a large emission of particles (>3 um/microns)

    Have they fixed their carpet destruction problem yet? I bought a V11 a few months ago and had to return it because the torque drive head ripped up my carpets (I have a mix of oriental rugs, area rugs, and wall-to-wall carpets). I'm surprised that when I see Dyson reviews no one talks about it…
    I ended up buying a Miele and it's also cordless but doesn't eat up the carpets to the extent that Dyson does

    I personally think that dyson could improve the v15's overall performance by doing 3 things. Making the cyclones smaller to filter our more dirt, add a second tier of cyclones like on their current cylinder corded vacs, and reducing the metal shroud size like on the outsize and their cinetic upright. That will do 3 things, reduce the amount of dirt that passes through, increase the dirt bin capacity, and will increase the velocity speed of the dirt and air mixture within - separating more dirt from the air flow

    Particle counter feature suggests some additional tests. Start with empty flask and vacuum a defined area, record the particle counts, empty the flask back onto the area and repeat comparing the counts. Vacuum the same area several times recording the count after each pass. Compare the count vacuuming the same area on each power setting and with each head. These tests should reveal if this feature actually works or is just a gimmick!

    • @moritz.9725
      @moritz.9725 3 роки тому +1

      This test can't work properly because you would need to get all the particles out of the vacuum. But some particles will stick in the filter or at the walls of your dust container. So you would never get a perfect result...

    • @john_hind
      @john_hind 3 роки тому

      @@moritz.9725 Not expecting the counts to be exactly the same, but the results should be revealing all the same. I often wondered what the minimum size of particle that ends up in the bin rather than the filter. I never got beyond the V8 but certainly that was not much use for building dust as the filter would quickly clog.

    Like to have seen you do a full vacuum and then demonstrate the emptying process and how to not breathe in any dust during that operation. No good having the best filter system, if when tipping it in the bin, you get a lot of dust, which mainly seems to be from skin flakes. I think the Dyson cleaners have been very useful. Bought my Mrs. one and she said send it back, so I said they will let you use of for two weeks and no questions asked. After the first use, I said do you want it sent back. No was the answer.

    • @SamRickerd
      @SamRickerd  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the subscription! Just subscribed to you as well! Honestly, I would say to stick with your V11 Outsize. Although the particle counter is nifty at first, as I’ve used it more it becomes annoying since the machine is constantly jumping around power levels when it senses a rise in particles (which can suddenly make it difficult to push on carpet). The performance compared to the Outsize is essentially the same, and although the new fluffy head light is cool, it doesn’t actually improve the cleaning performance at all. My favorite feature thus far is actually the anti-tangle Torque Drive head and mini motorized tool! I vacuumed the whole house yesterday and not a single strand of hair got tangled which I was very impressed with. The V11 Outsize is already such an impressive machine and the upgrades on the V15 are generally insignificant so I’d recommend you hold on to your’s for now. Thanks for watching!

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans 3 роки тому +1

      @@SamRickerd that’s for the recommendation. I lasso want to say that the Dyson cordless Vacuums were already really good at resisting hair tangles. My outsize has only ever had 2-3 hairs on it. But in my experience, the outsize doesn’t clean carpet well. But I have so many vacuums that I can just pick whatever vacuum I really want.

    • @SamRickerd
      @SamRickerd  3 роки тому

      If they’re the same price, definitely go for the V15! The V11 Torque Drive does not come with any sort of fluffy head for hardfloor cleaning so the V15 is really a steal (especially at that price)! They’re both similar in terms of performance, but the fluffy head is truly invaluable for hardwood floor cleaning. Thanks for watching!

    • @SamRickerd
      @SamRickerd  3 роки тому +1

      This is actually incorrect. The 111 inches that was measured on the Outsize is directly from the motor unit (not at the nozzle). As I showed in my chart of measurements at the end of the video, I got 112 inches of lift directly from the motor unit which is only a slight increase from the suction of the V11 Outsize. Since suction is a pressure measurement and not a measure of how much air is moving through the machine (which is airflow), the position of the suction measurement device is irrelevant as long as there is a good seal (which my airflow box has). Thanks for the comment!

I vacuumed the whole house yesterday and not a single strand of hair got tangled which I was very impressed with! The V11 Torque is already an incredibly good cordless machine, but it is only a $100 difference in price between the V11 Torque and the V15 so if you can justify the price difference (and can still return it ;) )I’d definitely go for the V15. Thanks so much for watching!

      Good point, but as I’ve covered in my videos, suction is not they key to removing dirt, but rather airflow. In terms of airflow, as I mentioned, the V15 is only a slight improvement over the V11. I also compared my suction values to Vacuum Wars’ tests on his V11, and they’re essentially the same. Not sure where Dyson is getting the “24% improvement” number🤔.

    My friend has a V15 and I have a V11 sitting around. The attachments are interchangeable. The particle counter is a straight up gimmick, you won't look at it again after 5 minutes. The anti-tangle tool is really that good, I would purchase that separately if available. The fluffy head is nice, but there is no ball mechanism on there, so it will not fit under low beds/couches. Hope this helps! Also, check for marks and scuffs on your "new" items. Due to stock shortages, there are rumors that some people are receiving refurb units sold as "new". The clear plastic on all my V15 pieces had gouges and scratches.

      The brushroll speed is relevant to how well it cleans. A slow brushroll will not agitate the carpet enough to dislodge debris (especially sand). So if you care about performance on carpet, you should care about how fast the brushroll spins.

    • @kryptoniteee

      @EbonySeraphim 3 роки тому +3

      @@SamRickerd sort of to Fluterra’s point - and it would be helpful to say this to viewers - RPM isn’t the measured relevant result. It’s how much dirt/dust whatever it can pick up. Another vacuum can have higher RPM but pick up less due to a worse brush design, or some other aspect of engineering that makes it do the job worse. These raw numbers are only relevant when a customer can potentially make choices around the data. For example: maybe I have a higher RPM vacuum with a worse performing roller, but if I can simply get a better roller, now I have both better RPM and a better roll so that *should* be the best. But anyone’s who’s done a good amount of experimentation in all but trivial matters knows: you still test in these situations because you might still find surprises and this is when we learn and make better choices because we don’t just operate on our assumptions

      Since the fluffy head only works on hard floors and not carpets, I wanted to use it on as smooth of a surface as possible. The tile floors in the rest of my house have a lot of texture which make it much more difficult to see the dirt particles and not just the texture of the floor so I went with the (mostly) smooth concrete basement floor (which ended up being cleaner than I thought). After doing a whole-house cleaning with the V15 last night, I still think the light on the fluffy head is a bit of a gimmick. Unless your hard floors have a large amount of dirt and dust particles hidden on them, the light doesn’t really reveal that much.
