River crossing with motorcycle to enter SENEGAL |S7 - E26|

- In this episode, I finally manage to cross the border into Senegal. But, with the previous video included, I rode 700 kilometers this day, with the river crossing at Bogué and then the hectic customs procedure at Rosso Border. I think I've never been more shattered after one day. BUT - I didn't have much choice. Due to no money (no ATMs or ways to get cash anywhere) and the customs procedure with the passe-avant, I just didn't have any choice but do it this way. As long as the plan works, it's all good in the end!

Noraly, I'm gobsmacked ... your incredible determination, resilience and stamina is next level. You're one hellova gutsy lady getting through this day ... +700 kms, heat, river crossing, borders, negotiations, language barriers, filming, feeding kids and everything else you contended with off camera. Throughout it all, you stay positive and keep smiling. Unbelievable characteristics under such trying circumstances. Respect! 🙏
Kudos to the sweet guy who took you across the river. He seemed so gentle, kind and concerned. Hope you had a fantastic, well deserved rest afterwards!
Very well said. She genuinely cares ... she did what she could with those children on the road and with it, she builds karma💖
Very nice how you put that all into words
Excellent thoughts and thanks for sharing them!
Bridget, you said exactly what I was thinking. This kind of a day would have wiped me out and then some.
In Europe, we have forgotten what borders and bureaucracy are. I think that her preparation and vast experience helps a lot in such nervous situations. Regardless, great respect for her positivity
Noraly I know that you aren’t the first person to have done these journeys but you are the first to have taken 1.65 million people with you , to open our eyes to the people and cultures that you experience. Many thanks .
Do you remember how excited and surprised she was when she got her 100,000 subscribers plaque from UA-cam? I haven't watched her enough to see her receive her one million plaque yet. But I am binging on her season 2, while still catching her currently. 🥺🙂
That's really awesome that we have her and she us.
That’s a great analogy! No one else has done that before! Noraly’s adventures are always educational and interesting!
The guy who lead her from market to boat is nice person, thanks for helping her man..
he was also at the river during loading, I hope he got something small for his efforts
I think people really underestimate how cool-headed you must be to successfully get through situations like this
I don’t think that they do.
Noraly handling the intense heat, the dust, and general chaos of travel in situations like this is so admirable to watch.
Again and again we’ve watched Noraly in difficult situations and she always manages to find a way through difficult terrain, water crossings, or borders - sometimes simultaneously!
Bravo Noraly!
Yes! She has earned quite the reputation!
she makes it easy and fun 😄
I was shaking , watching this unfold.
one of the tough trials is to get through the Darien Gap using a small boat
Yes, Noraly handles ever situation through her vast travel experience , especially the borders!
The ability to communicate throughout this series is impressive. I can’t image making these journeys only speaking your native language.
obviously they are speaking Pulaar
I worked in equatorial Africa in the 70 & 80’s. Nothing changes. I am a sincere admirer of your bravery.
You can't desert, been same since 1000s years
I am speechless. How you managed to navigate the border crossing in the midst of all of the Scammers in addition to the chaos that comes from the language barrier, trying to calculate the currency exchanges, figuring which import licenses you need not to mention insurance. And to top that all off….. trying to find a place to stay the night. I am in awe of your cool calm and collected manner and I am shaking my head in utter disbelief…..😊😊 Please be safe Noraly!!
All part of the adventure and Noraly always seems to make the most of every situation! This border crossing did seem to be utter chaos….
I know right. I'd be so lost.😂
Super women Noraly!
They are not scammers, on the contrary, they provide assistance despite the poor capabilities. Their livelihood and condition rests with France as an outdated colonial state and a corrupt government bent on ruling the country.
@@user-pk3wz8qr5o so how do you explain the rude names they called her and the horrible treatment from these people “Trying to help” as you say.
Phew! I guess I wasn't the only one holding my breath, first seeing Alaska being transferred over that river and then later Noraly trying to get rid of those fixers. She really is one brave biker! Safe travels, Noraly!
St. Louis du Sénégal, a legendary place where pilots like Jean Mermoz and Antoine de St. Exupéry started or finished their Atlantic crossings to and from Recife - Brazil with the famous Aéropostale. So now you truly enter the world of legends, Noraly. ✌️
For us watching Noraly seems superhuman. For Noraly she does it because she loves it. She lays bare her devotion to adventure. Ultimate respect. Tipping my hat.
Noraly is really a fearless woman. Imagine the amount of planning done for customs clearance, immigration, motorcycle maintainance, food and fuel, going thru multiple countries currency exchanges etc most of us would give up after crossing two countries. I am a biker and I know the difficulties, yet she made it look easy !!
plus editing the video!
@@dollimelaine yes, editing is work, but it is also a way to create a visual that can be misleading.
@@dollimelaine plus producer, cameraman, drone pilot etc etc
when half a million people send you their impulses every day from morning to evening, you will be like in a reactor, your ass will burn faster than you cool it down😄
We only see part it's like you say I am an old biker but never did international
I have watched for years. I believe this episode is one of the best - it is what viewers find so compelling - Noraly, alone, dealing with the language issues and individuals who may not have her bests at heart. It is very compelling. It actually made me a little uneasy, but Noraly showed her metal and made it through. Ending the video without confirming she was safe in her room was a great Hollywood cliff hanger maneuver. Big thumbs up!
The fact you are watching this video means she made it through safely.
It gives us hope. We see good everywhere she goes. And her personal constitution teaches us how to be good citizens of the world. This is one woman who has taught many of us BY EXAMPLE!!❤🎉
What an adventure.. Languags barriers, cultural barriers, humanity is great.
OMG, nerve-wrecking! I'm impressed with how much weight that little canoe can handle!
700 clicks and a border crossing in Africa. Lady you got balls. Ride safe.
Out of all of your boat adventures around the world my confidence for a successful crossing was never lower. That was more of a canoe than a boat. 😬 Let’s go Senegal!
Those are step above from dug out canoes called piragua or pirogue or piraga
My worry was more like, "This is how to cross from one country into the next???" Worse, it didn't seem as though she had a choice. It worked out, but this trip on a whole has been a dangerous one. I cringed every time she hit sand on a paved road. A regular street bike would not have been so forgiving. The heat and the load on the bike are another issue. That can shut you down and put you in all sorts of danger. I hope conditions improve, for safety's sake 🐫🐪🐐🦂🪰🦂🪳🪱🦠🦟🦎🦧🤗
This certainly was one whale of a crossing by boat! In earlier seasons, I was surprised that her boat pilot made it across some of the waters that they did….. but, this one was a bit sketchy!
I just have to say, I actually started to get a little emotional when I saw them handling Alaska with such care getting it off of the small boat. It’s as if Alaska has become a living thing in away and they were treating it like a human. It’s amazing to think the stories that little motorcycle could tell. In a way it has become a living thing. Great video as always! Thank you 😊
I admire your energy and ability to adapt to daily challenges. 700 km on roads almost always off road, 12 hours on a motorcycle, two border posts, crossing the river on a boat and alone without logistical support is not for anyone. Keep Going!
When you gave those kids bread my faith in humanity-bar went up a couple of bars. Always be kind, people of earth, is the lesson of today.
Thank you Noraly for bringing us with you./Greetings from Sweden.
Here I am, sitting in my living room but my nerves are SHOT!! What a border crossing that was and well done to Noraly and huge thanks to those who helped along the way
I just woke up here in Los Angeles and I can't wait to see this episode later today. Noraly is a true adventurer and we're so lucky that she's taking us all in her journey.
Same here in the Calgary, I jump out of bed to watch the adventures of Noraly and what an adventure it was today!!!
@@AidaJof same here in Western Australia - 1 am. Been following her since her very first ride/video. She’s awesome.
Same here in Kuala Lumpur...Malaysia..
I'm in Wisconsin. Grew up in Senegal. I can't wait to see where all she goes in Senegal.
Are you safe over there in LA ,
Patience, tolerence, courage, kindness, toughness and a delightful sences of humor... you're my hero!
Noraly.... you are the single most fearless person on the planet. Game over. No contest. I've watched all your trips, and I'm still routinely amazed by your pure confidence and fearlessness.
It is my pleasure to be taken along by you. Your video series is incredible.
Thank you ❤
Showing yourself friendly creates favor among morally upright people. Patience in trying situations and kindness to the poor reveal your true character. You're a champ, Noraly.
Definitely
The locals are so sweet. Accommodating caring and respectful. Love this❤
I am more amazed every episode! Now my wife is hooked on the videos, too. We’ll be sitting around and she’ll say, “should we watch some Itchy?”
Noraly clearly feels more at home on her bike than on a rocking ferry boat. 🙏💕
Wow, supreme patience and tenacity, Noraly ! That border crossing would have stressed me out to the breaking point. Personally I don’t think you have a limit, overheated and pushed by scammers, you are a LEGEND. I trust you are doing this for the experience and you appreciate how you deal with stress daily, well done, Noraly !…❤❤❤Rick
Nice
"They look hungry" Poor kids, you could see the plea for help in their eyes. Even after following Noraly around the world my liking and respect for her continues to grow. Well done madam. Well done.
What a day! People are amazing in so many ways. I have found that where travelers may be confused, local people will be there. Many are there to take your money. But there are also those who are there to help you avoid the others. You negotiated the border/river crossing and the customs chaos so well. "Welcome (Alaska) to Senegal!" after the customs success.
Nothing better to go with my morning coffee then an episode of Itchy Boots. 😎
Well, at least the boat ride over to Senegal was shorter, easier and safer than the trip around the Darien Gap.
Your so brave, I am a 42 years old man, 6’ tall and I would of been worried at going to places that you go! Hats off to you, you are an inspiration.
Noraly what an incredible, adventurous and intelligent woman you are. Can feel what you are going through in these videos and it's better than any movie or show I have watched. Great editing.
That felt like such a stressful crossing. With the language barrier, heat, heavy gear on, needing to load the bike onto a small boat. Extremely well handled.
They were so nice and helpful with getting you across. ❤ beautiful.
This is the most anxious Noraly has been in any of the videos so far. You can tell she really didn't feel in control there but she made it in the end. It's amazing how officials in every country are helping her in spite of their corrupt reputation. I'm glad of it. The alternatives don't bear thinking about but now she's entering deepest, darkest Africa where excitement and danger abound! What an adventure.
The PEOPLE (individual) are not the corrupt ones, it take a government. Heard mentality...corrupts.
Many Africans are good hearted people and they will protect her. She is a woman! The only challenging parts of Africa are war zones, the other parts are ok.
@@trishf2184 Cobblers. A government is made up of individuals who may or may not have a propensity for corruption. Some cultures accept bribery and corruption as a way of life. in fact many do.
@@trishf2184 It's not that simple. Governments are composed of people and societies are composed of individuals and there's a feedback effect in both directions.
@@slabrankle9588 you absolute know nothing about Africa buddy. Stay in your home .
What Bridget said below.👍Really, really impressive, Noraly! 👍 Your capabilities, smartness, friendliness, respect, humour, your guts, it all inspires us! You adventurous, strong, very able and friendly woman exemplifies so many aspects of life to us all!👋Good on you, lady!! 👋
That border crossing with all the scammers and thieves reminded me of Washington DC.
the man from last video stayed until you managed to cross the river . god bless him. what a legend .wow . there was something about him ... charismatic
Yes, a true gentleman
He definitely was in the right place at the right time!
he was just an NPC ...
Oh Noraly, you are absolutely amazing! Most of the entire day was very dodgy! I know in those situations you have to have all your spidey senses on turbo. And yet you still keep your sense of humor…cracked me up with calculation overlay! You and Alaska most definitely deserved a good place to rest….I hope you found one.
Noraly, you never cease to amaze your followers! No matter what you are challenged by, be it deserts, mountains, heat, snow, ice, rain, water crossings or wild life, you always manage every situation! Another great episode surrounded by great people! Ride safe…..:)
@@markmark2080 .. . Hey Mark! Yes, in the mid 70’s and early ‘80’s I was a Bultaco dealer in the southern part of East Tennessee! I also re-sold new Suzuki’s for a dealer about 60 miles away. I grew up in a very small town that only had one lawn mower repair shop, much less any place that repaired or sold motorcycles. I raced a Frontera quite a bit in enduro and even rode trials occasionally on Sherpa T. To stay in shape for reliability trials, we raced motocross a on a 250 Pursang. Later, we raced enduro on both Suzuki PE250’s and even snuck a Yamaha IT175 into the mix. I still ride off-road occasionally on my KTM 350 EXC-F and on road as well on whatever bike I happen to have. No racing though! Lol…. I buy “garage / barn bikes, restore and re-sale them. No longer have an open shop or business per se. Thanks for the reply and ride safe my friend! By the way, I’ve followed Noraly from the beginning of her channel and was in the first 6k subs and have seen all her videos at least once!
@@markmark2080 …. It must be fun to track the progress. I just haven’t thought about attempting to do that!
Wow! That was intense. Right up there with some of the South American crossings and sketchy moments. You got my heart racing girl! This season feels a bit more dangerous, you've been in incredibly remote places and this crossing was particularly fraught and full of lurking menace. I so admire your grit, along with your good spirit. This is real, courageous adventuring. And it's such a unique privilege to be able to take your journey's vicariously - and from the safety and comfort of our home. Thank you and safe travels!
Long ride...is an understatement. Ride safe, be well....get some rest.
The river crossing just took my breath away. Once again you found your way with the help, of very honest local people. 😮❤
On a trying day like this your true spirit was on display.
Fearless, capable, compassionate, determined, and always with a positive attitude and a ready smile.
You Awesome Woman!
I'm glad most of the people are super friendly and supportive.
Large hearted people❤😊
I felt like I was holding my breath the whole time they were loading Alaska onto the boat! Relieved when you were safely on the other side. What a chaotic mess in Rosso! The adventure continues . . .
Noraly you've got more balls than a whole would-be group of bikers. 😆
I’ve overland travelled in Africa in a land rover many moons ago what a great episode. Brought back all memory and anxieties of that situation big day well done.
Your a master traveller. You always keep the stress from getting ahold of you. This was a real episode. Love it.
When things go crazy and you deserve a good cry...you somehow get through in a relatively good mood with a laugh...and still have patience. You set a great example and are a true adventurer!
You had enough adventure there for several days ! My emotions got appropriately involved with you, even though I know this video being posted meant you made it through ok ! Always appreciate and enjoy your rides ! And a big THANK YOU to all who assisted you ❤❗
All the comments are so true! All I can add is “Noraly, you’re the most incredible woman on UA-cam!” Be safe!!!
Amazing, the kindness Noraly shows others and the kindness that finds her
but for the guy in Camo, she had to give him some money, 40 ouguiya (one dollar) would have made him very happy... NORALY you are really stingy...
Noraly is stressing me out (as I sit, safely, at my computer, of course). This was crazier than the confusion of entering/leaving Columbia. I'm glad she added a bit to the video to show that she found a place to stay.
How can i not give 👍🏻 everytime watching her video. If multiple thumbs up is possible, i would too....😊😊😊😊
700kms and a border crossing in a canoe! No wonder Noraly sounded truly wasted at the end. Noraly - Inspiring as always.
Noraly, your spirit is amazing. I don’t have the words to say how much of an inspiration you are. God bless your beautiful soul ❤❤❤
I am always amazed how Noraly has a positive attitude and keeps on smiling through the most difficult times. I hope someday to meet her. 🇺🇲
Just as well it was just a short boat trip😂Great work beating the scammers Noraly, so proud of you☺Giving the kids your bread made my heart melt, you are such a kind human being Noraly☺12 hours on the go is very hard going but at least it was all worth it, get a good rest and I'm looking forward to Senegal👍
Iam here 16 April 2023. From indonesia. Really love this channel ❤
Its so wonderful to see human being of different kinds working together to achieve something.. Fantastic! What a brave woman! Got through the border.. Yippie!
Noraly never disappoints.❤
Once you're south of Saraha. That's when the real adventure starts. Be safe !
Hello, I follow your journey since in morroco it's really nice to see that all! I am senegalese, I could advise you to pass the boarder from Saint Louis because I think there is a barrage where cars and all can pass. It should be safer for our dear alaska😂. But really happy to see that you join my country. Huuuge welcome to senegal, the country of teranga, (Teranga means hospitality😊)
A struggle all day . . ..
You must have been exhausted.
Kind of you to pass the bread to those kids. 😊
I like the way you kept your cool at the border crossing. You ROCK!!
You're a very strong person, I can't get over your stamina, all those hours on a bike, well done Noraly 👍
Even with all the unrest in that part of the world, Noraly manages to bring out the best in people. Extraordinary!
😲 the Number of people that is "travelling" with u is impressive!!! Im One too, every day i come home after work and watch your daily video...and its impressive your guts/crazy the way you handle!!!!💪🏆 Love from Lisboa - Portugal 🇵🇹 Stay safe girl😊💋
Oh goodness! 🥴 After having watched a couple of hundred of your videos a couple of times, I know what exhaustion sounds like with you. That was a day tougher than an rally day, hm?
You still made it an enjoyable watch! 🥰🤗
…and those were remarkably perfect gentlemen operating the boat there, hats of to their good manners! 👍
I shall learn from their example. Well, try to. 🤷♂ I'm German. 😵💫😇
Thank so much to those people that made possible that Noraly crossed to Senegal.Oh!! Noraly. Unbelievable, when things seem to be a debacle and then you made them look so easy.
I have travelled in Africa for more than 6 years in my Land Rover. Border crossing days were always a hard day. The fixers and money changers can test your patience, and corrupt officials also spice things up a bit.
But, imagine if it was easy, then you wouldn't have interesting stories to tell...
Agreed Cedric. Sounds like you had quite an adventure for 6 years! Where did you go of I may ask?
I also traveled overland through Africa in an old Land Rover series III. Back in 2001/2. Sadly only 11 months though. Was a truly exceptional experience! We opted for smaller border crossings where possible for these very reasons. Regardless, it was always stressful. Paperwork. Language barriers. Corruption. Money changers. Queues. Heat. Dust. No sanitation facilities. Etc. Luckily we never had a single anything stolen on the whole trip. And, never paid any bribes, not even $1. We just refused. Very trying at the time, but fun times in hindsight. Exceptional experience!
@@bridgetedwardsmentalhealth409 I travelled mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa, but went up to Egypt via Sudan. I travelled in a 1957 Series 1 Landy.
The best years of my life!
Wonder Woman defying the odds yet again. Absolutely incredible. Just when we think we have seen her at her limit as far as a mentally and physically exhausting day, she raises the bar again!! All in brutal conditions. Woo what a boat ride! Short distance, but being so top heavy in the skinny craft it looked like it could have tipped with one wrong move. At least the mental boat rides around the Darien Gap we re in a slightly more substantial boat. Angels are with you. Peace, rock-on Noraly, we ❤❤❤ you
Noraly, all I could do was shake my head and admire your tenacity. Unbelievable !!!
Alaska has no problem with cable crossings, ocean crossing, water bars and now river crossings… with Noraly as her guide, anything is possible 😂👍👍
Long day for you both.. sleep well 🛌😴💤
Another remarkable episode! Noraly is very experienced, prepared and one tough cookie. Good people will always come her way to help her out.
it's beautiful to watch how you let others guide you with complete trust and utter chill. Truly awesome ability you have
With your videos it feels like we are actually there. And also so good that you keep giving general knowledge about the areas you visit. Another great episode loving your travels , ride safe.
Oh My your calmness in the river crossing, your endless energy you show to all you come across is fantastic, Bravo Noraly.
Wow wow wow wow I can’t believe you actually made it through all that. You are tougher than you think. You kept your head level and perseverance and got through it. Wow wow wow. You are amazing Noraly. Amazing. ❤
Many congratulations on another border crossing Noraly.. but sure it came with a lot of hard work and a marathon ride. Not surprisingly you were totally spent by the end of the day. This vlog had every level of hardship- chaotic border crossing combined with absence of customs, taking a dicy boat ride across the border and getting the bike legalised in a new country. Having to find a place to stay in the dark added up but overall everything gets forgotten at the end of the day when the job is accomplished. Bravo Noraly ! You are an inspiration 👍
Well, that was action packed. I'd take the wild compared to the chaos and scammers of a bigger city. 12 hours of riding is in my territory, except mine isn't filled with a water crossing, paper work spread out by hundreds of kilometers, and language barriers. Good on you giving the kids your bread. The kindness will take you further. Ok, you can take a break now. Hang in there kiddo, and stay safe out there.
The Queen of boarder crossings is Noraly.
What a trooper. Bet that aftermarket seat made the ride a lot more comfortable, to make a twelve hour day in the saddle.
Noraly, You continue to amaze as I have previously commented. One your strengths, besides your physical endurance is your ability to radiate this amazing openness to everyone you meet. I must also say that the fact that you have edited and uploaded your segments in such a short time is commendable. Thanks for taking us along for "your ride".
Nurali, I call her the adventurous lady. I like it when you give the kids bread. A simple act, but a great joy
I'm impressed how you are able to show composure with all this stress at the boarder! Thumbs up!
Was surprised to see they left the baggage on, but to go for 100-200 meters maybe not. Alaska has some stories to tell, doesn't she? Can you call Charly and see if he can help with the customs?
I LOLed on the calculation graphic. I love your sense of humor. I hope you were able to get some rest after this. Well done. Thanks for this video, Noraly!
What a fearless woman, there is zero content that comes close to yours. Unreal bravery.
Alaska has lots of river crossings under her sprockets but, a river crossing in a canoe takes a double dose of talent and the balance of a trapeze artist to complete successfully.
The river crossing was smoother than I expected. Perhaps because there was much discussion and every detail was covered. However the customs check was much more difficult than expected. Glad you made it through.
I appreciate all that you do and go through to make these videos for us Noraly. To so many amazing places that we would not probably ever see. Thank you very much. Those river crossings in small boats has got to be nerve racking. But you always do it with a positive attitude. I hope you find some time to get some real rest. Lots of love from Gene in Tennessee.
Truly amazing person Noraly is - guts, determination, inner strength and a resolute will not to be beaten - and oh yes, an adventure rider extraordinaire. 👏👏👏👏
I think we are all witnessing a new Marvel Superhero....ITCHY BOOTS...VROOOOMM!!!! Heat and dust....KAPOW! River crossing in a canoe.....KAZOOM!! Villainous scam artists....ZAP-POW!! Noraly...simply amazing!
What a day, What a day!
Was biting my nails when they load Alaska into a small boat. Glad it turned out well and good, but the bigger Senegal boarder, with mobster of fixers and scammers was crazy and scary...energy draining BUT happy you came out of it in one piece and gracefully done what you came for... Hats off to your bravery Noraly.
I was worried for you noraly, you are very brave, I didn't think your bike was going to fit in that boat and then all them men circling you had me worried.
Hope you got fuel and found a safe guest house.
Love your adventures 💕👍💕
Great work itchy...but hard day..thank you 😊👏🌍🇬🇷
Thank you for showing us that you found a place to stay. What a day. A bit extreme in the stress spectrum 🤦♀️. Love and prayers. ❤️🙏
