Prog Jazz Big Band....you have my attention
I love that you're early to Adam Neely videos

Just saw Thank You Scientist the other day. I've been inundated with Jazz Prog Pop recently 😂

I friggin love this!
12:47 Pro Tip:- if a Jazzer asks you what key you are singing in, never answer with anything that isn't a flat key.
Abb?
@@Opuskrokus ABBA?????
A#b?
Well played sir. Perfection. BECAUSE ITS TRUE. You owe me a keyboard (I snushed...)
Just don't say sharp keys that make no sense. Like A#. That isn't a realistically used key, it would be better to say Bb.
1:25 “Kids are the least judgemental”. Unless you’re another kid. Kids are absolutely terrible to each other.
they're naive judgemental thats even worst :D
Kids are actually pretty nice to each other until about grade 6 or 7.
Guitarisforgrins lol maybe it’s just me, but I had bullied at like 3rd and 4th grades.
this comment brought to you by kids
I can confirm based on life experience
“Yeah, I’m available”
Imagine being this professional. Being able to not just READ the music but actually MAKE music out of it this proficiently. That’s the goal
Practice. It'll happen.
5:15 glad this moment was captured cuz i almost said no to a gig that later on opened many doors!!! fun to be on here thank you adam and sara!!!!
At like 11:25 the spice level just kept getting higher and HIGHER and HiGhEr
it's these damned keyboard players. once they get going they can't stop no matter what. once they start to reach for that whammy pad/button, you know you can get something to drink at the bar
I easily rewatched that about five times
Gig was fun!!!!!!!!! 🙏🏽
It must floooooooow
That’s such a sick synth sound too. Adds a lot!
Where is the 16 minute Tuba solo?
this is jazz, not mariachi.
@@Krieghandt Mariachi uses guitaron, not tuba. But idgaf, liked your comment anyways.
@@matthewsaxman1028 progressive mariachi uses tubas as well.
You mean 16 whole notes?
Ask Theon Cross
Great vid. Really enjoyed them at the Stone Church in Brattleboro the other night.
"I'm working now"
He learned his lesson from last time he got high.
every youtube "doesn't smoke weed" ;)
Something tells me the band leader would make a lot more money with a much smaller group... Possibly less work/stress too managing it all
@@arxsyn yeah but then it would be boring af
1:42 "Mr. Adam Neely is expected for his flight at gate E dominant 7, thank you"
It was amazing playing violin in the Minneapolis show! Honored to be part of this small moment in jazz rock fusion history
"...and by way back I mean four" 😂
Heyyy... Nice to see you watch this stuff :D
If only Chill-harmonic groups existed everywhere!
My goodness, I would love to play with an ensemble like this.
Looks like there's some crossover between smash, speedrunning and music :)
What instrument do you play?
bro same im a bassist and i just wanna fuckin lay down some sweet drop B for shit like this
@@kirjian What do you mean by the crossover?
There's the LA Chillharmonic run by guitarist Richard Smith too. Very different sort of band but he's a top bloke and a lot of fun to play with. He comes over to London and play with a Big Band I'm in here every so often.
Emm Bee Sea yo hi
That synth solo at like 11 minutes is classic prog at its finest.
Synth solo was crazy :D
That's what makes prog prog bro
10:52
Props to Sara! It is hard enough as it is to run a small group, much less an 18-piece big band! It's not a money-making situation but very much appreciate her efforts and her music!
NYChillharmonic was the most unique band I've ever seen live. Absolutely surreal ❤️
Did you see them live?
He just said he saw them live ._.
Can you analyze how “Jazzy” the Jazz is in Disney’s “Princess and the Frog”
Josh Bailey is a drumming god, like holy shit
Thanks for reminding me that the best thing about music is making it together... now I'm going to crawl into my wee corner again, crying that I gave it all up
I feel you
9:55 I need a few seconds more before and after this moment. It's so good.
The song is called "To Cover a Quiet Mind' and it's available on UA-cam ;-)
@@slowculture5903 thanks god
One of the best vlogs I've seen in my life Adam Neely. A snippet into polished performance juxtaposed with you guys trying to catch the hat on your heads first take style really made me smile. You create so much quality and positivity and I really appreciate you for that

"You don't want no part of this shit, [Adam]"
For every gig-vlog you release my urge to move to the US just to be able to experience all this awesome music grows stronger. Damn!
Visit sometime! Where are you based out of?
@@forgetful9845 Sweden. Yeah, I absolutely will. :)
You guys had a “Cory Henry” moment
Wow I love the New York Chillharmonic. What a cool sound, and the composer is awesome for handling such a complicated setup with all the local musicians coming in for different gigs and everything. Great voice too. Thanks for the vlog Adam! Loved it!
When is this music gonna be published in streaming and downloading platforms such as Spotify and iTunes
Ur mom
Is fingering herself
This is interesting.
They just need an celtic flute now.
She should learn flute and be like prog rock Peter Gabriel!!!!!!!!!!!
@@jameswkr7177 I'm more of a Jethro Tull man when it comes to flute
These are really well edited, no fluff and straight to the point. I have a hard time imagining how you can even think about creating content while you're out touring. I can barely make myself post a pic on Instagram when I have a local gig. But props to you man.
Gotta watch those bets. I lost my entire gig pay one time betting a guy was gonna hurl; and he didn't. Not there, anyway...40 bucks it cost me, and when i go to leave, he's out in the parking lot yacking - on the front bumper of MY car.
Guy was definitely in on it.
Thank you! I love this kind of format. Also, NYChillharmonic sounds like AWESOME music!
Beautiful. What a concept of band leadership and organization. Musicians will always find a way to put it
out there. I´m an old guy and it puts a smile on my face to see how you triumph. I absolutely dig your music.
Keep spreading the word.
You know, I think I figured out why I love this channel. You can really see how much Adam and his guests really do love music. It's just .... good stuff, and it feels genuine
Adam I like your face at 11:37 so much. It is pure joy expressed with such a large smile!
This video as a whole is so much inspiration to me as a music student. Do whatever you want to do and live through your music. Even if it's prog rock with a big band. Everything is possible. Thank you for this video!
Bro this is wild! I'm from Minneapolis and played a lot at Jazz Central in college. So surreal seeing a place I spent so much time in on your channel. Love this
The NYChillharmonic looks like an interesting band. I might have to check them out now.
There's some stuff on Soundcloud.
You're here too?!
Same
This is Wondrous, great sound!
the network works!
Man I haven't been to a show in so long. This channel makes me want to go see some live music like right now.
This channel makes me want to play out again right now. But I'll stay home with my young kids and baby for a few more years :D
Go
About that 👀
Fantastic editing/pacing in this video!
And the ambition of that band is commendable.
I really liked that, good to see/hear modern take on big band. Excellent!!!
Thank You Scientist x NYChillharmonix would be the greatest collab!
I love her personality. She so chill and transparent
That's crazy! What an amazing group of musicians!!!
Josh Bailey is the unsung hero of your gig vlogs. What a legend and smashing drummer.
That baseline you play at 10:33 could probably wipe out a building, good *lord*
oh my gosh yes!!! it's a KILLER
We can't ignore that keyboard either!
Damn, can't believe I missed that, thanks!
Anyone know how he gets that sub sound? Is it a pedal? Or midi triggering? Or whattt
Thanks
@@ottocox_ I know he uses a boss OC-2 on his board, might be that?
love these gig vlogs
11:38 KENNEEEEERRRRRR!
I'm a musician in Minneapolis and it was a pleasantly startling surprise to see familiar faces and places. Love the content! Thanks again for everything you do
Question for next Q&A: what do you think are the best/most essential apps for a professional musician?
Super close to one million subscribers and one hundred million views!
Truly love this, great song writing... Thanks
The edits are fantastic i love em
HE CAME TO MY UNIVERSITY OH MY GOD
:O
Dam that synth solo locked right in with the rest of the band. Particularly your bass was the shit
Super interesting timing on this because I'm actively working on a video about putting on a show with a larger band as well! Should be up tomorrow.
All of these gig vlogs are SO FLIPPIN' GOOD
Cool, lol is on bass, he's my favorite
The Minneapolis Show! I went to McNelly Smith with Afro guy!! Hes an amazing dude!! Glad to see him still at it!
I dig seeing all the processes of bands and musical groups I would never be in. Super cool!
Freaking love this channel.
Affinity One the best
Adam I LOVE your editing. Bravo dude
Rock, Jazz, Country and classical is often really stuck in their ways. I love this where we borrow from each other. This was fun.
I’m so glad PROG Rock INDI Jazz is becoming a thing again. Keep on Touring!
good fun, great people, thanks so much.
Wow it's so crazy to see a place I've played at in one of your videos. Love jazz central, dope couches and a lot of killer local players
That was awesome. I dig it.
Love it!!
I love gig vlogs and I think you should do more :) love ya Adam
One of the most interesting videos I've watched in a while. A lot of interesting new music with networking and organizational tips spiced in. Great job!
You played in Allen Hall! I lived there last year. My band played a few gigs in that main lobby so it’s rad to see your band playing in the same spot. Much love from UIUC 💙🧡
Love this kind of video
That synth solo at 11:30, and the explanation afterwards, was the height of musical mysticism.
Damn this band is amazing and huge respect for a Sara McDonald to both be such a talented singer and composer as well as organizing all the gigs.
Thank you Adam! This video was very insightful for me because I have always asked myself what it means to run a large ensemble in today's music business but I would have liked to know more about the financial aspect and how it all comes together at the end.
Jazzrausch Big Band is brilliant! I have never heard a better blend between big band instrumentation and electronic music.
Got to love people who are willing to execute on ideas like this for the love of the music. This won't make you rich, but at least she will be my hero! Keep it up and maybe you'll stumble out of the US and get I to go watch your show live.
Happy to hear this!
I have my first NYC big band show in two months and I'm super pumped for it. Just like Sara I was really surprised how many people you don't know are like, "Sure, I'll play this gig."
holy hell the production value in your videos is insane
She is strong woman
And this band is amazing!
Hello from Russia. I hope someday i will see and hear the live performance.
what an amazing musician and bandleader!!!
That was pretty damn cool! It seems like a fun gig!
Love the videos you make keep up the good work
This dedication to touring and playing lots of small venues is really important. In Australia the distances between towns can be huge! But the live playing creates it's own art form. "Pub rock" bands of the 1980s worked hard and learner a lot about meeting expectation of tough audiences. Some went on to international success: AC/DC, INXS, Men At Work.
Its not only about what you know but who you know that can get you connected if you are a working musician.
Loved this! Wish I lived in any city that could see this....
I’m loving it!
I love these gig vlogs! I miss being in a band
I need more of this please
I really love these gig vlogs, especially if Josh is involved.
I used to play with a funk band. Somewhat large band. Slowly, I became the person who booked the players.
One night..I didn't realize until we were there. It was like all subs...no one knew anyone, except me! 🤣
Full introductions all the way around. 💫
That looks so fun omg
The Minneapolis gig sounded great, and it was cool to meet you. It made my nephews' day.
I was at the Minneapolis show! It was awesome!
That’s crazy...my school plays at jazz central all the time
Great experience
Davie 504 and Adam Neely post nearly half an hour from each other.
Double win.
Checkmate guitarists
@@jackalterman Why doesn't he? He has good sense of humor and he plays bass probably better than Adam
@@jackalterman yeah, I used to like him years ago. Now he's really overrated. The same jokes every single video, plays the bass like a guitarist, begs for likes, etc... Even guitar videos from other channels are plagued with unoriginal 6 strings bass comments.
bass time
@@jackalterman You can just let people enjoy things!
@@jackalterman He's just a troll... and that's okay.
This big band reminds me of Thank You Scientist. Great prog rock jazz band
Champaign Urbana in the house!
That looks like a blast!
