rocket jumping in tf2 be like

- Everyone who plays tf2 and their mothers have heard of rocket jumping, but not just anyone can do it. You have to be a seasoned veteran, and what better way to become good at rocket jumping than to get a rocket jumping tutorial from a master on jump academy?
Special thanks to Octo for acting and voicing in this video, here's his channel: @Octoooo
Huge thanks to Megascatterbomb for building the modified version of jump_academy, here's his channel:
/ @megascatterbomb
Massive thanks to Cyberwizard and Usshii helping me out as cameramen
/ cyberwizardtf2
/ usshh
Also smaller thanks to elmaxo who is 6'10" 280 pounds and very very funny funny for voicing the medic: @elmaxoTF2
this video was largely inspired from McYum's "bad pvp tutorials be like" video
Songs used (in order):
Creative Exercise - Mario Paint
Bury the Light - Devil May Cry 5
Tom Fool - Ren and Stimpy
Soul and Mind - (from Getting Over It)
Valse Moderne - Ren and Stimpy
Able Sisters - Animal Crossing
Bury the Light recorder cover (by yours truly)
#tf2 #tf2skit #rocketjump #rocketjumping - Ігри
by collabing with octo, i was able to put his channel in my description and abuse the algorithm by riding off the clout of a bigger youtuber, truly the most diabolical of plans
and also by getting elmaxo to voice the medic I'm one step closer to growing my channel from a measly 5'8" midget into a full fledged 6'10" 280 pounds channel
Because of UA-cam's stupid 1984-tier decision to remove dislikes, I'll be putting the like/dislike ratio here, updating at the end of every day for the next week or two
Current: 3984 likes / 66 dislikes
As of 1/3/2022 I've stopped updating likes/dislikes, but at the end of the month I'll do a recap of the like ratios for all my videos in a community post
Irl Cheats?
@@9k111 its called life hacks
@@elmaxoTF2 terrible apologies mr "baby puncher" elmaxo who is 6'10" 280 pounds and very funny funny and handsome, i've fixed my errors
huh updating your audience on the likes/dislikes on your videos how unbelievably based
cute animation
"you can't aim!"
"that's... why I'm Soldier."
Holy shit thats so true
Except for direct hit
@@shookengie370 More like the direct MISS.
@@joonapukarinen1153 that doesn't have a good ring to it man
That'd be why I'm a beggar's soldier
Imagine putting all your skill points into rocket jumping… as the wrong class 8)
Yooo it's moooo? Who's that
critjump
surf pogo as medic
Engineer just casually insta builds lv 3 sentries with the wrangler as soon as he falls and then frame perfects it to keep up and not fall
lol
at this point, walking straight forward without rocket jumping with the soldier should be denied
unless soldier is almost dead to begin with
I hate that tho, they then steal all you’re metal and med kits for going 3 meters

my first 200 hours in this game were dedicated to rocket jumping, I got so good at role outs that I forgot to get good at other things like positioning, other classes, the game in general. so yeah don't do that
Same lol, well at least there's trolldier on hightower, which requires none of those
It's a good feeling that Machinima animations are still around, and the fact that it's with a game as old as them.
It's not an animation
@@random_number_sequence Machinima animations refer to video making within a real-time video mostly using video games. Pretty much they're scripted and acted out in game.
@@TheCupRamen Ah, ok. I didn't really know that.
I recall that Quake engine and Unreal had their own Machinima scenes in the early 00s. Probably the one and only series still going to this day from that time is Red vs blue on the Halo engine(s) since 2003 (fact checked the date). While the early works were largely pretty crude and the source engine brought about the golden age for Machinima with things like Gmod, machinima themselves have been around for much longer than tf2.
@@TheCupRamen Ins't still an animation, it just Machinima
This was the longest wait for a 5 minute video I've ever seen, still good though!
Feels like waiting for LazyPurple

I am not gonna sugarcoat it
Prepare to be amazed when you see this new generation of UA-cam
That pro rocket jumper guy is exactly me. It took me nearly one month to finish half of jump Academy. I will say I am good and rocket jumping but I absolutely suck at fighting.
i took 4 years and haven't completed it and i still can't rocket jump properly
@@jaburu4230 I have been playing this game only for one year
@@jaburu4230 I have a little trick for you; if you know how to Bunny hope you can go at super speed. Bunny hopping is really easy. Maintaining Momentum is the hard part. But if you practice long enough, you will get the hang of it.
@@thelowspecpc9582 it's hard to do it with 30fps and constant lag
@@thelowspecpc9582 you can't maintain momentum with bhops in tf2, something in the code of the game restores you to regular speed when you land a bhop
Rocket jumping is one of the best examples of TF2’s learning curve being a *brick fucking wall*
3:45 they have mobile TF2 in TF2. This is almost like a reverse breaking of the 4th wall and I like it
The ramp up in difficulty in "easy"/"beginner" maps and servers is insane. I feel it way too much.
Even had 2k hour rocket jumpers telling me "what do mean it's hard? This is easy stuff".
For some reason every maps version of easy/beginner means different things.
I know. there's a map with a sync jump or some shit after 3 jumps. Do any of the best not even ponder what or how a beginner would view things?
@@ItsYee64 A regular sync is definitely a super beginner technique though.
@@mooncalf_4534 nah, a super beginner technique is getting your jump to give you more horizontal momentum than vertical.
@@buns9022 In terms of learning to rocket jump (the movement tool), yeah. In terms of rocket jumping (the activity) though, a pre-measured double sync is definitely a tier 1 activity. You can see Syncs on maps like 4starters course 1, Quba/Baqu course 1 and hell, even jump_beef decided the sync should be in course 2 not course 3.
@@mooncalf_4534 see, you've lost me.
i can't use it as anything but a movement tool, anything extra is boring to me. so only movement relevant techniques, and even then, raw essentials to keep my HP up, are all I use.
Next up: mge mains
read my mind
next up: what was it again?
mge mains when they fight in a 1v1: god
mge mains when they fight in a 1v2: shit
I remember learning to rocket jump on jump academy and this nice soldier taught me the ropes and I've been practicing and getting better ever since
Sameeeee personal shout-out to MY soldier mentor
I must be that one dude who went with the default skill point options, where everything was equal, because I can do basic rocket jumping, and I can basically aim.
same here but I play typical colors 2 on Roblox.
Same
That fucking Getting Over It sequence was brilliant
4:17 “I am Teh stoooom witch is aprooooooching”
Provoking
Black clouds in isolation
I am reclaimer of my name
It feels like those machinimas from 2014 and its awesome.
I came down looking for this comment and I'm glad I found it. It really feels nostalgic in all the right ways!
2:44 that gave me itsjerryandharry flashbacks
Legend says that Raw will never learn how to play Team Fortress 2 correctly...
The editing, references, and everything in this video. This video DESERVES more views
3:18 *BIG SHOT starts playing*
This is an actual S+ tier video, I was extremely entertained throughout. Deserves a fat sub
'Getting Over With It.'
That's the most perfect description for rocket jumping i've ever seen.
The music from getting over it killed me inside, all those painful moments
1:46 DO NOT BRING BACK THOSE MEMORIES OF THAT GAME THE PAIN I WENT THOUGH WAS HORRIBLE
Im an egyptian pharoph and i aprove of this good job raw the egyptian dynasty is pleased with you
My Experience with Rocket Jumping:
*_Dies in mid air because everyone is too good at this game in 2022_*
I was not expecting bury the light playing at the beginning
3:23
"Free your mind."
"Whoa."
1:40 When I heard the getting over it I kinda felt bad for the guy
We need a
Trolldier vs Demoflight
match
0:32 I like how the newbie improves on every try
YOOOO FINALLY AN UPLOAD!! glad i was there to witness some of this
jumping actually improved my aiming skills. When i decided to go back no normal tf2, i was getting loads of kills with the direct hit(which i was pretty shitty before)
The production value on this is amazing
miss rick may, thank you soldier for making my childhood better
I loved teaching people. even though I'm not that good at it, it was always a blast to see em get the hang of it after spending days on walls 9
Seeing Rocket Jump Academy mentioned makes me nostalgic because i was there on their opening day and spent a good amount of time jumping
i love this its old school as hell but with more modern elements!!!!!! so classic and inspired and awesome!!!!!!!
That soldier is really motivated
"you expect me to defy the laws of physics?"
the other guy 10 secs later: [ques for a match on mobile]
R.I.P Rick May 1944 - 2020 "A man dies when he is forgotten!" "You were real good son maybe even the best..."
I love when the noobie dies and revives like spy when he has the dead ringer
This was great, love it
Bro this is literally what i experience when playing jump academy, Constantly saying it's easy.
0:10 "Rocket jumps controls EVERYTHING pyro"
*DEVIL MAY CRY REFERENCE cuz the song is bury the light from dmc XD*
You've all met that guy that can rocketjump good but can't aim for shit! It's called "That guy that can rocketjump good"
I enjoyed the getting over it section, very nicely done.
If he never countered a spy then he never did met a medic before to
bruh I love that getting-over-it section xD
Me rocket jumping: I am a dumpster fire
You are the destroyer
I like how someone made those Mc yum videos but inside of TF2 of all things.
octo: i havent left jump acadamy in years
raw: mets him in a pubs match
1:19 true, thats why i abandoned the idea to learn how to rocket jump (stuck on easy walls 8 or 10)
This guy is literally McYum, but if he played tf2 instead.
Soldier is indeed the storm that’s approaching and he is provoking
3:10 obviously yes
What a wholesome little tf2 skit
This summed up my journey
Now im halfway decent
I love how the noob soldier is wearing gibus and pyrovision
1:58-2:22 nice Getting Over It With Benett Foddy reference. I didn't know that you know that rage game lol
When he said it's just some simple jumps it reminded me of its just some simple Redstone
great animating skills man
I remember being stuck for 40 minutes on last jump in jump academy. It was *""""easy""""* jump
Airstrike users reaching speeds no other class can and having pinpoint accuracy to hit a scout in the air: 🥵
Listen man, I’d be scared if I saw “THAT” thing standing behind me
Rocket Jumping Is Really Hard… also, I love the Getting Over It reference.
I like the reference to getting over it with Bennet Foddy
This was a really good video ! :
I can definitely see the inspiration in the the thumbnail
I like how it was like zero to hero in the start
4:25 elmaxo cameo!?!!1!
istg this actually feels like starting rocket jumping
Sometimes i remember not to feel too bad about not being able to rocket jump, i can always switch to medic and pocket a scout to get to the battlefield. But being a trolldier is so fun
Finally someone that understands me and the "simple distance"
Now you chance to be a Mr. [BIG SHOT]
hold on, i remember the SFM video one, holy shit you're bringing old memories
Reminds me of that rocket jump sfm like 10 years ago
2:45 bro they just went to a different universe
the way he tries to do rocket jump at first time
its so damn relatable
This vid is really good
Every time I pull out rocket jumper and try to crit people I just die till I say screw it and just pull out direct hit and kill everyone.
Rocket jumping is important if your roaming or if your a trolldier but other than that you should only rocket jump when you need to
absolutely brilliant video.
Some say you can see a shooting star that’s just Rick may definitely subscribing
I've never felt so personally attacked before
sticky jumps: the exact opposite
This feels like a mix between SoundSmith's tutorials and the SFM Zero to Hero
the getting over it part sounded like a clash of clans animation's narrator
_Getting Over It_
With -Bennet Foddy- Octo The Famous UA-camr
best funny video tf2 i ever seen
Would quote a joke but everthing is so on point just gona say amazing video
Worth the wait
Quick note
No matter how much you hate someone you can’t call them “useless” as if they’re an inanimate object
the only experience i learned from rocket jumping academy is discover i have motion sickness and i puke after practice for 1 hour rocket jumping
I just like learning in game, i never go into jumping practice maps and i just get a bit better as i play soldier overall
so THATS how soldier did it in pootis engage extreme!
school be like 1:17
Tried this a couple a times. Gave up. I just became the shoulder that doesn't rocket jump
RIP Rick May. He will be remembered forever as soldier.
“God speed you magnificent bastard.”
