  • Watch this Rusty Small Electric Hot Plate from 1950. In this restoration project you will see Laser Cleaning rust and a few different restoration techniques. Enjoy !
I try to do my best every time and make this restoration videos more pleasant for you.
After I saw this hot plate on Etsy app, I knew it would come out a very nice restoration video and I bought it. This portable hot plate was made around 1950 and to restore it was in good condition. In my opinion it was made in URSS.
For this restoration project I put all my passion and dedication to come out the best of this video but every time I work much better from previous.
To removing rust I use the Laser Cleaning techniques and I think in conclusion this electric hot plate restoration it's a good video.
This restoration took me 4 days to restore from A to Z and the cost of this portable hot plate was 35 $.

    • @CoolKoon

With the intent of being fixed.....that exposed kanthal wire alone just screams electric hazard (plus it's grossly inefficient too due to the wire hanging in the air, which is a good heat insulator). And besides, in every single hot plate in the world the whole thing stands and falls on the heating element. Once it goes out it's done. While it's theoretically possible to replace it in this model, it probably wouldn't really be worth the hassle anyway.

An electrical note. You do want to shorten the lead wires so there is none exposed between the smaller ceramic insulators. When opening and closing the unit it was clear that a short to the metal around the hole would have been easy. The same for the coiled element wire, it should not be resting on the insulating sheet, it should be suspended by the ceramic pipe segments. You could see if distributing the ceramics could help with that a bit.
