So... Earth Mom died, the Foundation tried to resurrect her, but we ended up with Earth Step-Mom instead, so the Foundation created Earth Daughter to fix things. Neat.
Im fine with the step-mom :)
What are you doing Earth Step Bro?
@@VolunteerTiger CESSATION OF TOMFOOLERY IS A REQUIREMENT, NOT A REQUEST!
AKA nergl
This SCP is like a daytime soap opera version of some bad scifi channel movie.
The Foundation: “We finally get to create our own god!”
*Nurgle enters stage left*
The Foundation: “Put it back, put it back, PUT IT BACK!!!”
The Foundation: * _Creates a new mother nature that tries to genocide humanity_ *
Foundation: There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents
So, a Greek Pandora-/Mabel Pines-/Star Butterfly-/Marcy Eu-level accident?
Just shows that the Foundation is not as good in their job as they think, the Inka gods have destroyed the world 4 whole times before coming to the current one. xD
"Inca", you mean.
SCP 5000
@@PoppyDiaboliquewell that wasn't exactly the foundation operating as usual.
"They created Nurgle the Plague Lord"
Foundation: Brother, get the flamer. *_THE HEAVY FLAMER_*
We will win with the power of friendship. VULKAN LIVES!
Or just one of those Chaos hating Matt Ward-level entities.
@@michaelandreipalon359 you make it sound like his something from the ghoul sector
Well, reality in Warhammer and the SCP mythos is always screwed up, so meta moments like that are a given.
FOR THE ADMINISTRATOR!
Humans: Accidentally kills mother nature
Foundation: Recreates Gaia
New Gaia: Death to humans!
Foundation: We killed you once on accident. How well do think you'll do this time, when its on purpose?
The OG Gaia's death actually gave me some feels. Very well written and presented.
Same. They really tugged the heart strings
yea it made me cry at a time when i thought I wouldn't.
".. and consits of base instincts: primarily the urges to feed, fight, flee and/or mate."
Comedy gold delivered perfectly
I had a college textbook express a similar sentiment and I came here to say the same thing 😂!
Sounds like they got yaldoboth.
Oh I loved Gaia, Volgun has a great video on that one with the girl interacting with the AI. Really made it something else.
I clicked on this video within minutes of upload solely because TheVolgun's video on it was so good. I definitely recommend it to anyone else who likes this scip!
One of the rare characters he didn't voice himself.
It's a great scip! The story telling through it is great.
Now I remember. Thank you. Thought I was taking crazy pills.
If I had a nickel for every time the Foundation fought a vengeful nature god that was covered in an Exploring Series video, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I understand that reference.
@@eudyptes you would
If I had a nickel for every time I heard a variation of this commemt I would have 100,000,000,000,000,000,00 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened 100 trillion times.
What I love about this SCP is it doesn’t go for the “human bad” trope and instead holds us accountable for what we do to the earth
It does go for that fairly heavily... It takes its core themes from the sleep-inducing 'humans were the real monsters all along' trope. Without it, the plot beats and interactions wouldn't have manifested in this same way.
Don't get me wrong, this is a bizarre and interesting entry, but the narrative does rely on finger wagging at the human species to deliver home its existential punch.
@@grayfiresoul Sucks being on the other end of it for once, huh?
@@grayfiresoul No because 1. The misanthropic and vengeful nature god is shown as a threat rather than mankind just getting what's coming to it and 2. The ultimate solution is to make a HUMAN into the new nature goddess. The message is that just because humans have caused terrible harm to the environment, doesn't mean we deserve to be exterminated. Instead, we have the power to undo our mistakes and protect nature instead of harming it.
@@grayfiresoul I think the 2nd Gaia was more than just another comment on ‘humans were bad’, it’s also a contrast between life and living. The 2nd Gaia was the bare definition of living: to sleep, to hunt, to reproduce, and to live another day. It tries to kill humanity because it was killing it, and it wanted to live. The first Gaia was the representation of life, where it accepted all life regardless of how it killed her.
@@INFILTR8US wdym “for once”
I love it when you and TheVolgun overlap stories as it makes it so much easier to understand and consume. Yall are amazing, as you are every week and thank you for all the hard work you put in! Its amazing to see yall change, get better and spread the fun stories of the SCP Foundation! ♥️
This one has been in the polls for a looong time. I'm glad you finally managed to read it.
Same I've been waiting for this one
Interesting. What's the competition then?
@@michaelandreipalon359 most likely a poll for patreon backers
Ah, OK, but I was actually referring to the competition SCP articles that were matched alongside Gaia.
Nice
Finally. My first read SCP. I was waiting for you to do this, man. Thank you!
it was beautiful, thank you
"ZEUS! YOUR SON HAS RETURNED! I BRING THE DESTRUCTION OF OLYMPUS!"
This is one of the absolute best SCPs and Exploring SCPs, like EVER. I'm incredibly impressed with the skillful description of psychic warfare in a way that makes this potential "new age woo" live up to the standard of Foundation technical writing. The idea of a sinister shadowy organization actually working for the ultimate good of all life (eventually)...it's amazing. And of course Mangg's Nurgle joke made me literally LOL. A brilliant piece all around.
Theory: what if this new Gaia isn't Claire and the Foundation is trying to gaslight it into being friendly to humans by convincing it that it's human because the last time they recreated Gaia without direction was destructive. My evidence nothing except wouldn't that be kinda fucked lol
Exploring Series: Lets find out if this is good or bad
Me, optimistic on a Monday:
Stuff like this is great but it reminds me that the SCPs I like are too short and too old to show up on here. But stuff like this is great because, well, it's great and your delivery gives it the tone and gravitas it deserves. Thank you for Exploring, Mr. Series!
I'd like to read some of those. Which would you recommend?
@@ciscodadisco6378 My two favourite oldies are Sentient Calculator and Heart of Darkness. Sentient Calculator is one of those things that's just weird with no answer to why it exists. It's not going to end the world, it's not secretly the newest god of the kaktusverse, it's just a calculator that's alive and misses its friend.
Heart of Darkness feels like it should be on par with 682, or have taken part in more of those omnipresent XK class scenarios we seem to get nowadays. It's a terrifying, nigh-invulnerable, mad gibberish spewing abomination that requires some damn heavy containment procedures.
Most of the original 2000 are good for this, back when you could find a weird goblin or a murderous chair and it gets locked up for observation and testing.
I remember seeing this on TheVolgun’s channel and listening to you read this it truly reminded me why I love both you guys. Thank you both for your work, truly the best work of SCP on UA-cam.
Thank you for my weekly reminder that it’s midnight and that I should, but will not, sleep
This is one of my favorite scps of all time. And I highly reccomend the Volgun's performance of it. 4043 directly inspired the scp I'm working on rn, which if it passes greenlight will be my first. And the AIC from it, Natasha, will have a corrospondence with the protagonist recorded in the addendums.
got a link for it?
@@Slaine969 My work? No. I'm working on it in google docs not sandbox because I'm more used to google docs.
@@Slaine969 very rough draft... aherm
The following is a communique from AIC Natasha, assigned assistant and translator for SCP 4043, formerly special agent Clair Yen.
Dear Lieutenant,
As per your request, I’ve asked SCP 4043 whether or not its possible to influence and reduce the effect of the anomalously enhanced strains of vibrio cholerae, vibrio vulnificus, clostridium perfringens, streptococcus pyogenes, and Paeniclostridium sordellii. The short answer is no. The long answer is far more complicated and comes with damage that goes beyond the scope of this operation. In addition, I’ve endorsed your preparedness contingencies regarding anomalous diseases. Calculations indicate the global health situation will worsen and will be worsened by human activity regardless of whether or not SCP 4043 is friendly to human and Foundation interests. To use a human saying, the horse is out of the barn, I cannot close the gate and have it actually help the situation.
To be more specific, if 4043 were to interfere it would likely make the situation worse and possibly kill all life in the Amazon Basin, or make it sick and weak, or make it hostile. She cannot favor one form of life over the others without not only harming the human race but violating the mandate of this operation. We must favor all life or no life, and we must do so with minimum harm to homosapiens sapiens. A previous instance of SCP 4043 likely did create the situation currently going on in that region. But the current instance is not capable of stopping it, the microbial realms have always been… moody, to put it mildly. What we can do is endorse responses and policies we believe both fit our mission and help humans combat the situation in the Amazon basin on their own.
SCP 4043, what is left of Special Agent Clair Yen also asked me to pass on the following warning, that 'Microbial activity world wide is increasing with the global temperature and permafrost loss. Using my connection with all life to attempt to identify whether or not scp 610 is conscious does not violate the mandate of this operation, however it qualifies as cross testing and carries significant risk of unknown side effects. If I am asked by our superiors, I can and will perform such a test, but will ask for multiple confirmations and register my own protest as it violates both the mandate of current operations and I believe could put the human race in danger once again.' End message from SCP 4043, previously Special Agent Clair Yen.
After doing some calculations, I have reached the following conclusions; outbreaks, including outbreaks of anomalous disease are likely to increase over the next century and increase the likelihood of a broken masquerade scenario by 30% due to the increased likelihood of global anomalous disasters (GADS) below the threshold used to classify an XK end of the world scenario (increased to 10% over the last century as knowledge of the anomalous and anomalous activity have increased.)
@@AnimeShinigami13 i like it so far, my suggestion is to better represent more anomalous diseases created my the second gaia construct.
@@Slaine969 its a minor side attraction. the story is the lead up to a massive 610 breakout and the new scp is discovered in the chaos.
*When I was reading it before translating it to the Spanish Branch it became one of my favorite SCPs, I'm glad finally you made video about it!*
Thanks, to all the translators out there.
Had to get the Patreon just so I could get these earlier
Hey, that's me.
Not me. Am content on waiting.
@@michaelandreipalon359 bruh, support content creators. I literally pay $1 a month to a guy who’s videos I wait for every week.
I wanna hear this guy talk about the Chaos gods
Mother’s keeper is my dream job
The Aztecs also conceived of the Earth as a single female deity called Cipactli, but she's an angry half-dead crocodile that requires constant blood sacrifice or she'll wake up and destroy the world. Sounds like plenty of other SCPs. Edit: and apparently this one too lol
Ah yes, typical Aztec deity.
An angry half-dead crocodile?
Now where have we heard of that before?
23:15 "Instead of recreating mother nature, they accidentally created Nurgle the Plague Lord"
Ohh this one is dope, heard it before but I'll listen again. Good choice
Turns out that Nurgle gag here was foreshadowing for his move into W40K content.
There are SCPs where Foundation screw up everything by acting like total assholes or by completly disregarding danger of bad treatment of anomalies, which is dumb in my opinion, especially in case like Notes from the under. Here Foundation screw up, while trying to do good, simply becasue they had no idea that new Zombie-Gaia will turn completly hostile. They fixed this in the end, but to be fair, death of Gaia was not their fault.
A nice subversion, you're meaning?
They were enablers, and took funding and backing while looking the other way from industrialists, who exploited not only their fellow humans but the earth itself while recklessly polluting and enabling this behavior. Basically, a critique on capitalism while not outright stating so, I know that’ll trigger alot of meek minded people saying that but the truth is often bittersweet.
Like many others I first heard of this SCP from Volgun's video. It is still one of his best and I highly recommend watching it even if you don't want to read it yourself.
I'm only a minute in but mad respect for using a Princess Mononoke image!! That's my favorite Miyazaki movie
There are a bunch of other Ghibli scenes, too.
Still my favorite Miyazaki movie a well, and also the first one I ever saw. :)
Are you talking about 1:00 ? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that image from Princess Mononoke, certainly not a scene of multiple elk in a herd. 🤔
Make sure to watch The Volgun's vid on this. The voice acting is good.
This was an interesting story. Neat. Mother Nature essentially during in your arms is pretty intense. I'm glad it worked out in the end.
Love the videos as always! Perfect way to start the week
This SCP doc is literally this is not my final form and keep going.
I really like this one!! I love how diverse SCP content is. No matter what mood/genre you’re looking for, the Foundation has it somewhere. It’s beyond cool to see a collaboration with so many authors and contributors still going strong after all this time.
This has been one of my favorites ever since mr Volgun did the fully voice acted reading a year or so ago, I know the scifi psychospace lingo is supposed to go over everyones head but I just eat that shit up, prob one of the best written and structured articles imo
Always amazed how you do this as quicky as you do.
I encountered this SCP on another channel a few months ago- and it reduced me to tears. I can't say exactly why it had this effect on me, but I do know this: like the 'Tree of Life' SCP, it resonated with something deep inside me.
Easily one of my favorite articles on the site after I saw TheVolgun’s video on it. I’m glad you’re covering it as well!
As soon as she was the one that sat with Mother Earth as she died, I knew Claire would end up becoming the new Gaia.
So basically when Gaia went wrong they used the tried and true IT technique. They turned her off and on again.
I love how the Foundation's plan was to literally DDOS God
I see what you did there
"Feed, fight, flee and/or....... Mate"
its too bad that since this article was written The mega island of Borneo has been all but stripped of its natural forests due to palm oil plantations and logging. Theres nothing left to save.
I only just started this video on my commute to work. While on the train, I looked out and someone had graffitid "GIA" on the side of a building, small but very clear from my spot on the train. Spoopy. Cool.
I do think it would be cool if the lords of chaos were all a direct result of The Foundation fucking about and the Emporor is their unfuck it plan
YES!!! just finished at the Gym come back to new TES SCP Thank you mate
I ran across this one on one of the other SCP reading channels. Nice to hear it here as well.
I always find the self-importance humanity imposes upon our relation to nature funny.
Looking forward to you telling of this scp. A favorite. Thank you.
Aw hell yeah finally getting another video
what a great thing to end my work day with every week :))
Is this related to SCP-166, "Teenage Gaea"?
"An answer to a problem..."
Sounds like the Architect's speech to Neo in Matrix Reloaded. "You...are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts, I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision."
Fantastic submission, Brilliant reading and just an amazing reading,. Thank you.
Mangg uploads on mondays to trick us into looking forward to mondays
I just listened to TheVolguns version of this SCP and it’s so good. Glad you’re going over this ❤
wow i just listened to your 3069 video half an hour ago, impeccable timing
"Gaia died a few times before"
In terms of SCP-Universe they might be talking about the previous times SCP-2000 was activated, but I think they might also be referencing to the 5 Great Mass Extinction Events of our universe where over 90% of all life on earth was wiped out in each great mass extinction.
Best time of the week ❤ big love, mangg, big love 🇯🇲
In my headcanon, millenia pass before new-gaia passes on as well, meeting the original mother nature who tells her she's proud of her daughter 🌳🌱
"But rather than restoring mother nature, it seems that they created nurgle the plague lord." - Haha classic humanity.
Hey my first ever video I watched from you was on SCP 093 I was just gonna say that you make amazing videos and your voice is beautiful
Time for my climb to Silver while I got this on.
i love catchin the late night upload.
this feels how a darker version of Captain Planet would go down
Oooh. This SCP is a favorite of mine. I’m excited to hear this video.
0:28 I’m from Bolivia and we actually still have cult for Mother Earth “pacha mama” but mostly older people keep the traditions.
Iv’e been waiting for this one for forever! Its my all time favourite, both positive and hopeful, but also uniquely dreadful and sad. Woohoo!
this feels like an episode from some kind of episodic show. It has that formula to it
My absolute favorite SCP.
You knew I needed sleep, god bless you.
Like I always say: I live for these.
Literally searched exploring series when this turned 30 seconds old
23:12 Cheeky lil Warhammer Reference...
Nurgle in SCP. pogchamp.
Arguably the most powerful and important entity
Love getting here early
Really well done presentation! This seems like it would have been tricky. The whole thing is either a conversation or a modified repetition of the same document. That said, I think it’s a great article and very creative.
Undead Mother Earth? Not something we see everyday, let alone see beaten afterwards.
This is one of my favorite scps❤ I’m getting caught up. Slowly and surely.
Second time an article has made me cry.
We need a showdown between Gaia and the Neon God... maybe in the form of an epic rap battle? Or not...
"She asked about her name, since she didn't have one"
My eyes went wide.
I remember the volgun doing a vid on this scip, probably one of his best vids
I remember The Volgun covering this one along ways back
You can't really blame some GOIs for wanting to destroy the foundation. The foundation fails more than it succeeds and those "successes" are also often... questionable.
Awesome
brilliance all round i like this vid
Just had an Ad about Mint Mobile where Ryan Reynolds was talking... Now I can't help but think it's that same actor asking questions during the interview
"Nuuuuuuuuuurgle~!!"
Having someone die in your arms is already bad enough, especially if you have known them for a long time. But if that dying one is the literal manifestation of all life on our planet? I am surprised that telepath is doing alright-ish.
Extra emphasis on "-ish".
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yeaaaaah, I wrote this before I finished the story.
Gaia: nature as some doofus hippy believe it to be.
4043: nature as it actually is.
sometimes you make 100 mistakes until you make that one right thing
To be fair, the Foundation making their own god is fairly reasonable considering they have a several gods hellbent on their destruction.
I hope the long articles come back.
Love the reference lol
Bruuuuuh no wonder all the comments are about how you upload late at night. My first time actually being here for a midnight release
ah yes, the four F's Feed, Fight, Flight, and Mate
