What potting medium ? Looks like soil? Not good.
Your problem is not having a large enough pot with the right potting medium …bark chips….fertilizer, and the pot needs holes so the roots can breathe. This plant needs air and a good pot to breathe.
What you do not know about orchids is a lot! Stop giving advice.
Will it hurt to cut off the damaged leaf in an orchids?
I’ve managed to keep this orchid alive in only water for 5 years now… One of the leaves was splitting for a while, but got worse when we moved from Washington to Arizona. Hopefully it’s not bad… It has a couple droopy leaves, some of the roots are short and withered… Some of them are way out of the pot and somehow still alive. Year 1 had 5 flowers, year 2 had 2 (forgot to water it for a long time, but was glad to know it was alive. This stem branched off the side of the first.) year 3 had 4 flowers, last year had 5 again, this year had 7, and an 8th but started growing, but sadly went out of season soon after. I’m just glad to know it’s still doing well. If you have any tips for me on how to keep it alive in Arizona, I’d really appreciate it!
Oh, and By The Way, 95% of people think I mean DC, but it’s not DC. I’d specify if it was.
But that’s besides the point anyway.
When you meant 7 flowers in a year, do you mean 7 individual flowers in one flowering stalk or actually flowering 7 stalks throughout the year. I have tons of moon orchids that was given to me over the years in decorative table pots, and somehow I manage to repot them before they died (my mom always complained that I kept in in the decorative pots too long and rot most of the roots. but moon orchid flowers look good for a month, sooo....) Anyways.. None has ever re-flowered. I need hints how to fix this.
@@donald1x 7 on one stalk
@@donald1x mine usually reflowers in the spring or summer. When it’s in season, its flowers bloom, when it’s out of season, it grows more leaves. That’s how mine has been. But all I’ve been doing so far is watering it and it usually would do the rest on its own
@@donald1x If you’re in a place that’s too humid or arid, try setting your dehumidifier to drop humidity to about 60%, or in an arid place, set the humidifier to add humidity until about 55%. Hopefully that helps
Are the leaves supposed to be erect or somewhat drooping?
Hi i have mini orchid .in which it has plenty of leaves ..but not flowered in 3 years .....help
Orchid fertilizer: weakly weekly
Cool nights, east morning sun. Better lots of indirect light that direct. Repot every 2 years in orchid medium
Thank you for this info!
Thanks for sharing.. I love white orchids but I can never seem to look after it properly.. mine looks like yours now 🙈🙈
Glad you enjoyed the video. There's only a few key things to know to keep them looking great. I wrote an article all about caring for orchids, which you might find helpful. smartgardenguide.com/phalaenopsis-orchid-care/
It covers all the basics.
Best wishes
