They're so rare that they're practically irrelevant unless you're playing on Meagher Valley. My forever community has cleared out about 4-5 maps so far and when I checked my stash just now, I had less than 40 of them. That's enough for less than half the plague hearts on a lethal map. If they get added to the list of armory craftables in U30 then things would change significantly.
Unless we are in Meagher valley, we can carry smoke grenade instead of Plague cure as an emergency life saver. If we are in Meagher, it can be used as the ultimate plague heart destroyer!!

Why do you need powerhouse? Honestly the powerswings are not that special.. it will save 0.5-0.8 seconds compared to regular swings. Flashbangs are not this powerful. They just stun the zombies and humans!

I've been using smokes n flashbangs for a couple of years now. FB are also powerful. They as you said stun human/non-human enemies. Disorient them, cripple their legs, ignite bloater gas.

Don't know when it was changed (or if my game was bugged), but they would attack me despite standing in the cloud sometime before the Trumbull update. I mean, it made sense. They're completely blind, and they'd track their target(s) based on sound and "scent".
I remember it was like this since Lethal zone. But the graphics will turn orange when the camera is inside the smoke even when we are not. So that will give us an illusion of us being inside the smoke. So the zombies will attack. The cloud is not very wide so we should be careful about where we hide!

That, or it could've been the XBox One it was running on at the time, as that's the console this was happening on. SoD2 would be chugging along with a framerate of at least 20-30 FPS on that one.
I've always used smoke grenades on my marathon/stealth survivor when going to grab cars to bring back to base. Stay light carry and if the car is surround, throw the grenade at it and hop in and drive off, or use repair kit/fuel then drive off.
I play Darkside Mod in Lethal Zone so this is like a game changer for me, thanks RvidD! I used to stupidly throw the smoke nades at the zeds and decided they were useless as they had no effect 😅

In U30, Armory will only be able to craft the military explosives and workshop 3 explosives. But not smoke grenades :(. If they add smoke to armory, LZ will become a joke!!! For the 2nd question, yeah you can even dance with a bloater inside smoke cloud as long as you don't melee them!!
Scentblock is unreliable. Sometimes too boring to use. If you have advanced biochem station, craft bloater cloud grenades and use them against hearts. They are very powerful! If you want to kill hostiles in the easiest way, smoke grenades and bloater cloud greandes are the way to go!
@@broskie9362 fire crackers. but they deliver damage to the hearts. which means, when damage hearts during bloater cloud explosion, the damage delivered will be suppressed (because multiple damages at the same time will not stack against hearts) so throw firecrackers (or any other incendiary that can damage hearts) slightly to the side of the hearts and throw bloater cloud
Brutally OP. If you want to get smoke grenades without the police station always recruit characters who have a police baton...they are former cops and always have a few smoke grenades.
The Duration and effect seems fine, honestly, but to balance it there should be a debuff, like you take small amount of damage over time while in the smoke yourself (its smoke) and if you stay too long you get smoke inhalation injury. Maybe put a new item in the game a gas mask to make this mechanic and the gas / pathogen mechanic even better and deeper.

I never thought to go in the smoke myself 🤦♂️ haha i wish i watched this last week . I just lost 2 of my red talon contractors from my 180 day group . It was a sad week lol both i completed their legacy missions .
I "cheated" in an insanely overpowered enclave for a save I was doing. I exactly positioned them on the "best" possible base for the region and gave 3 of them around 700 HP and the rest 120+ HP. I also gave them A BFG, 2 rotary grenade launchers, 2 bolt scouts, and 2 FBI fighting rifles _(Basically a 7.62 gun that the AI can fire in burst only instead of semi-auto)_ And I will say one thing... *Mistakes were made* My 1st survivor died cause I thought, "Hey surely they can't be that crazy right?" I didn't even get near the front door and the guy with the BFG downed me and another with the bolt scout finished me off. The 2nd survivor died cause I got pinned down by their FBI fighting rifles as soon as I was driving up the road to the base. (They blew up the car that was already smoking in 3 bursts) The 3rd survivor died but not before taking out their two bolt scouts. Also did I mention that the people with 681 HP can take two whole mags to actually kill when THEYRE IN THEIR DOWNED STATE?! The 4th survivor got blown up since they used the grenade launchers as a mortar... And the 5th survivor, along with 2 other randoms I invited _(And also warned beforehand of what they were getting into)_ took out the whole base, huge thanks to one random who tossed smoke grenades, that actually got us close to the door, we cheesed the AI since their pathfinding broke due to the smoke. So in the future... *DON'T GIVE ENEMY AI HP TRAITS THAT GIVES THEM 500+ HP* *DON'T GIVE ENEMY AI GRENADE LAUNCHERS* *Having 6 AI in a hostile enclave is a death sentence... for you, they've became the main characters*

I cheesed through lethal zone using the duplication glitch and getting on top of my car to shoot or grenade the crap out of them. Getting resources on lethal zone is too sweaty so i opted for duplicating everything 😂
Not working for me. Just tried it with a heavy weapon in lethal zone on Trumbull and got my ass chewed up in seconds. Zombies and feral ignored me for as long as I stood still, 100% in the smoke cloud. As soon as I took a swing at the heart with the sledge and hit them, they grabbed my character. It worked flawlessly with a firearm - threw the grenade, shot the shit out of the plague heart, bailed, no prob. Similar crap with the scent block. I used it to clear some infestation and hearts in Marshal. Effect wore out mid heart attack, so I took another one. Tough titty - zeds got a scent of me and all 156 of them targeted my character like scent block was not even there (plague zeds and freaks). Tried again with a different character - same crap, they just see me like scent block is not there at all after reapplication.
I think I made some once just to trade cause like some others here I thought it was just effective on humans. Considering I so rarely meet hostile enclaves n when I do its not exactly hard to kill. So I figured these things were pretty much useless. Was playin with a friend of mine the other night n nearly died after she ran over a bloater and a pack of ferals ran up to give me the bad touch. We both barely survived, wish I knew these were fucking S tier material then.
"No one likes cheesing the game using the Pyro Launcher" I hate that thing, I like playing an apocalypse game with it being realistic. I just learnt to Git Gud....instead of just always using that thing!
Most mature players I have met never even consider it because calling an OP supply drop out of nowhere feels cheating. The supply drop has to be earned through gameplay. That's the exact reason, I don't use the Impaler vehicle delivery!! Or did I miss anything specific in that timestamp? Any pronunciation mistakes? It took me 10+ tries to pronounce that to understandable level lol

I'm curious how well they work VS hostile humans.
Hostiles are not fooled by the Smoke. They'll still come for you, but they won't use ranged weapons as long are you're in the smoke screen.

in their PTR load the armory can craft any explosive ingame, that awesome to me.

Scentblock is unreliable. Sometimes too boring to use. If you have advanced biochem station, craft bloater cloud grenades and use them against hearts. They are very powerful!

Ferals work based on noise. So smoke grenades shouldn't work on them. Simple

That's complicated. If there are ferals, it will be very difficult.
If there are not any, you can always outrun them all even without stamina!
What is the lethal zone? Is that a difficulty setting, a game mode, or an area on the map ?

Hardest difficulty: big damage, big infection, more zombies, stronger special zombies, less resources, Dangerous enemy humans, 30 plague hearts

So I figured these things were pretty much useless. Was playin with a friend of mine the other night n nearly died after she ran over a bloater and a pack of ferals ran up to give me the bad touch. We both barely survived, wish I knew these were fucking S tier material then.
