I love the MP5K Spec Ops. It is my favorite weapon. It's so versatile. It's quiet and you can zoom in with the optics. It's got plenty of ammo and it doesn't cost an arm and leg to repair. This video is terrific. You're the best at this RvidD!
I watched that. Learned something new. I favor crossbows in the higher difficulties tho. Only use pistols for crowd control. And am pretty good at acquiring parts, so I mostly look at durability for melee weapons.

I would agree with this if it wasn't for the latest update (well aware this is a month old video) but with .22 ammo being up to 60 rounds per stack the echo revolver is number 1 for me.
The first sidearm that I used was the RTX Cyclone and oh boy was it so satisfying in smoothening hordes of regular zombies xD But yeah, the problem you said did occur, I was getting swarmed by more hordes which ultimately resulted in me running out of ammo... but it was fun!

I’m putting the Echo-S1 Revolver as my personal #1 sidearm. As everyone knows, we’re unable to put suppressors on revolvers; so with this built on suppressor that comes with it is major. Also we’re able to zoom in on the crosshairs as you mentioned in the video which is super dope for a revolver. And last but not least, since it’s 22 caliber, it’s the absolute cheapest ammo to craft as far as the amount you get back. I believe it’s 75 rounds per craft & if you have backpacking talent, you’re able to store 90 22cal rounds per pocket/slot which is another reason I love 22 calibers in the game. And of course it’s a revolver, so it’ll never break/jam and is unbreakable 💯 I was thinking of making a UA-cam video on it, as well as what I think the absolute best rifle is as well. My #1 primary rifle is the Duval Outrider that is chambered in 5.56 and is a lever action rifle which means it’ll never break and needs no parts to maintain it. Holds 20 rounds total and reloading is SUPER quick, as well as very fast target re-acquisition (follow up shots). 5.56 is suffice enough for Juggernauts, so the Duval Outrider is my main favorite primary weapon.
My usual go to sidearm is the 870 sawed off shotgun because I usually run across at least 3 per community and i enjoy having a shotgun backup for if I run into trouble and my primary runs out of ammo. The Czech M8 is quickly becoming a favorite, though, because in my current community, I have tons of 9mm, and my go-to character is running the Czeck M8 with the MPX Competition. The 2 together have 68 rounds, so holding spare ammo is unnecessary in most cases, and if one breaks I can easily swap the ammo over and keep shooting.
The RTX weapons are my favorite! I had all of my best 3 Survivors use the RTX Piranha, I later found a modder how was willing to change the appearance of the weapons(No 1k Mag size or Heart killer) now my Piranha has a scoopp on it making it Number 1 side arm for me
I prefer light side arms because I don't use them that often. There are a few high capacity sidearms that come in under 4 lbs, with suppressor and zoom. P220 Elite comes to mind. 21 shots. As for taking out plague hearts, that is a specific task, so I don't use the sidearms for those.

If you have a RT workshop and use a ‘gun rotation’ strategy where you’re either swapping to a duplicate gun when your survivor returns to base, or turning all their weapons in and issuing ‘guard friendly’ guns until they’re ready to deploy again, the guns will slowly repair themselves, it it could be enough time to repair them completely if enough survivors are in a rotation.
Well, there are two sidearms I also like. RTX Rampart has enormous firepower and works well with NPCs because they don't consume ammo. Also P226 Elite is just a good all-around weapon.
I have a survivor who I use only the Red Talon gear (I rarely switch in case I start to lose ammo for such guns as I use this character for trader legacies meaning no amory) so it's good to know the RTX piranha is a good sidearm for my chararcter
Great guide! I personally like the CLEO Machine Pistol on the lower difficulties, Dread Zone and lower. For Nightmare or higher, I personally like the OSS Silent Night revolver.
Crazy Ex Red Talon Mission is the best way to get it in campaign. If you need it immediately, Dr, Hoffman in Heartland DLC (after she moved to fire station) will always be selling it. Buy it, ask anyone to join your heartland and transfer it to your campaign.
As you noted, not a good option for a new community due to part consumption. I agree 100%. It is a sentimental attachment (the weight benefit over the Piranha, at this point, is a nonissue) these days.
Its funny i always thought the Spec Ops MP5 Sidearm was Slept on love pairing it with either the Spec Ops MP5 Primary. Or a Auto Shotgun Depending on how much Firepower is needed and if going Loud or Not.
I don't know if they updated it... But there is a sawn off pump action shotgun that you can equip as a side arm...im going to say model 1840....i have to dohnle check.

He does have a point. You could probably narrate the intimate details of someone getting dismembered and disemboweled by a juggernaut and make it sound like a calm, clinically educational film.
Tbh I have the police desert eagle as a backup if my marksman rifle or police sniper runs out of ammo so really I only carry 1 stack of ammo for my primary and if I don’t have a fully auto sidearm i don’t carry extra ammo for it i only have a full mag
Very good list. Also yeah bullet consumption can be a killer in this game. This is why I rarely use assault rifles because some of them don't have single fire and their ammo is rare that it feels like a gun you'll only use on either juggernauts or ferals. So the G18 auto's ranking is justified.

I have to second this. You’re becoming the ‘Cromulent Archer’ of SoD. Great content and strategies that everyone needs to know about, but doesn’t yet. Try doing at least a few partnering with other YTers and the Devs to cheese the algorithm.
There is a ‘reliable’ variant of the 870 that is better than the FGBD and 1887. Faster reload and rechamber time. I personally place it slightly higher than the RTX but still wouldn’t use it above NM.
Why is P5K Spec Ops better than Sleeper Cell PPK? The PPK weighs much less P5K (1.5 vs 5 pounds), has the same damage, have faster reloading with same rate of fire, and most importantly, .22 ammo stacks up to 90 bullets (assault skill), so you have enough ammunition to kill plague heart with only 1 stack of ammo. Yes, .22 guns less durable, but repairing cost also cheaper than P5K, and only one member with "Weapon Handling" skill can repair guns for free. PPK obliterates that submachine gun in almost all aspects. But i still prefer glock special, because i can easily shoot only one bullet per click, rate of fire is not a problem for a good mouse.
@@StateofDecayScience , 6/17 after 20 shoots, and 124/90 after "Field repair". Repair PKK is cheaper and its durability is enough to destroy two lethal hearts.
With sleeper cell, you can only fire 98 shots and will have to spend 163 parts to repair it. With Spec Ops, you can fire 370 shots and will only require 222 parts to repair it. (Guns attached with Adv Suppressor)

G18 Auto is a 100% guaranteed find in Heartland. Dr. Hoffman will always sell one or two G18 Autos. You can buy it in Heartland and transfer it to your campaign

After all, I have seen on the Internet that the found information with the time stated is only limited to 2018. Recall all the RT agents I recruited while playing and never found the RTX Cyclone Tactical. Including killing enemies.
@@StateofDecayScience Also I found out that only the tradeable reputation merchant always has the off-hand weapon. The other two follower always have the primary weapon. So far except RTX Cyclone RTX Rampart RTX Piranha No other weapons were seen other than these three weapons.

How do you kill hearts with guns? I don't understand how this happened in this vid as well, was it recorded on green zone? No matter how much I shoot it when it "bleeds" it has invincibility frames or something. Just like you can't bomb it with 3 c4's at once.
I've watched this vid literally 30 minutes before I found G18 in my leathel game. And threw it in my locker because I thought it was garbage. And then I see this vid where you kill heart in two seconds with it. I instantly load my game equip this gun with advanced break and go for the heart. Aaaand? Nothing happened lol. I shot the full 50 rounds in a sec and the heart didn't even start the 1st bleeding tick. I had to smack it with melee few times. And then repeat two more times. So what am I doing wrong and how do you guys kill it in one go?

How do you put the Mac 10 over g18? Wow you put a revolver as number 2 sheesh. Anything under 20 rounds isn't a good side arm to me. When I pick primary and sidearm I'm going for 100 round primary and 30 to 50 round sidearm it's about not reloading and not having to have a bunch of ammo on me

I tend to get them after recruiting Red Talon Operatives or Soldiers. However, the drawback on this weapon from my experience is that it's extremely loud. I've used it a lot on lower levels, but on lethal it can bring more problems than solve them.
To my knowledge it's pretty rare. I got really lucky and one of my survivors brought it back from a scavenging run. Its my main sidearm. Not because it's phenomenal...but because I only have one sidearm. Still pretty good.
Crzy 50 round mag kills the plague heart in 2s is crazy. years back full auto felt like the bullets wouldnt all register so it would take twice as much ammo to kill something compared to single shot, has that been fixed then? need to run through the heartland campaign for getting all 7 echo weapons in one run too, will see if i get an echo 1

The RTX Cyclone Tactical would be good as an emergency weapon for Lethal Zone's Blood Ferals. But I've only ever seen the RTX Cyclone. Only way I got the tactical was from a friend. How do you get it?

Interesting take on side arms. Honestly i was a bit surprised with no.1. I dont find much use of burst or auto fire except when taking out plague hearts and that is quite situational. Having auto and burst on 15 round mag is quite underpowered for me, plus the gun breaks quite fast. In my opinion P220-9 elite would make it on the list too. Its quite fun gun to play with.
@@StateofDecayScience in my experience parts are an issue only early on in the game even on the highest difficulty so durability is kind of obsolete. In those starting hours i would stick to unbreakable weapons anyways. Mag capacity and quietness are the only true stats that matter. Sight is always a plus too. I never stated that p220 is better than your no1, i just said its a good gun, for sure better than rtx cyclone for example.
Also full auto & burst on a 15 round mag gun is not underpowered... It will really be useful to take down a juggernaut quickly in a tight situation where meleeing is not possible
Of course this is your list and your preferences which means you tell us what you believe to be better. While I understand that. I would recommend future guide videos to include all weapon possibilities regardless of durability issues. Exploring the damage/usefulness of any given weapon should not be shut down simply by durability. My point being if a weapon hits like a mack truck but breaks faster, some people would still like to know how to shoot diesel.
A lot of players love Sleeper cell PPK. It is 7% more ammo efficient than MP5K.. But 300% less parts efficient than MP5K.. I will totally use a 7% less ammo efficient gun than a 300% less parts efficient gun. Besides, there's nothing special about PPK, MK3 and other handguns. They are just some ordinary handguns. Why would I use them if I have something better? No handhun hits like a mack truck.. Guns from a same caliber will always deliver same power (there are few exceptions)
No accounting for taste I suppose. You wouldn't catch me dead with almost any of these guns unless I had nothing else to work with. My top 7 list would look absolutely alien to you. As far as I'm concerned, everything in this list apart from the Cyclone is just suppressed gunslinger trash that doesn't accomplish anything I can't accomplish with a screwdriver. (Except at least the screwdriver would be fun to use.) Cyclone is NOT the only sidearm shotgun in the entire game. How could you forget about the sawn off 870? THAT'S a gun that brings some actual, unique capabilities to the table. What other, easily accessible sidearm can utterly trivialize triple-ferals in lethal on a a fresh, 0/7 stars survivor? AND it's indestructible. In contrast, Cyclone is great but you're rarely gonna get one early game and it's gonna cost you a fortune to upkeep. Cyclone is worth mentioning but the sawn off 870 is a bread and butter sidearm for early game lethal and it's egregious that it didn't make the list. Especially considering trash like the Mares leg made it in.

Just shoot them if strictly necessary, you can use wall as your alliance and without the primary weapon the execution is really fast once they fall

I don't know how I manage but even in a nightmare I very rarely repair my fire arms, however, don't talk to me about my cars

what about sp5k custom， I have compared this with mp5k spec ops and found that the former gun's attribute is higher than the 1st rank one.
My personal preference is the P07-Pro.

I usually find the mp5k fron those hostile red talon soldiers or off trader sometimes like the spec ops vec. Great list fo these sidearms.

I have to second this. You’re becoming the ‘Cromulent Archer’ of SoD. Great content and strategies that everyone needs to know about, but doesn’t yet. Try doing at least a few partnering with other YTers and the Devs to cheese the algorithm.

Didn't forget it. I narreted this before update 25. They were moved to sidearm category only after update 25.
So added a text in 3:14.
There is a ‘reliable’ variant of the 870 that is better than the FGBD and 1887. Faster reload and rechamber time. I personally place it slightly higher than the RTX but still wouldn’t use it above NM.

Why is P5K Spec Ops better than Sleeper Cell PPK?
The PPK weighs much less P5K (1.5 vs 5 pounds), has the same damage, have faster reloading with same rate of fire, and most importantly, .22 ammo stacks up to 90 bullets (assault skill), so you have enough ammunition to kill plague heart with only 1 stack of ammo. Yes, .22 guns less durable, but repairing cost also cheaper than P5K, and only one member with "Weapon Handling" skill can repair guns for free.
PPK obliterates that submachine gun in almost all aspects.
But i still prefer glock special, because i can easily shoot only one bullet per click, rate of fire is not a problem for a good mouse.
Fire 20 bullets with both Spec Ops and Sleeper cell and compare how much wear they both have got!
@@StateofDecayScience , 6/17 after 20 shoots, and 124/90 after "Field repair". Repair PKK is cheaper and its durability is enough to destroy two lethal hearts.

With sleeper cell, you can only fire 98 shots and will have to spend 163 parts to repair it.
With Spec Ops, you can fire 370 shots and will only require 222 parts to repair it.

I realized the piranha actually doesn't have full automatic, only bursts.

G18 Auto is a 100% guaranteed find in Heartland. Dr. Hoffman will always sell one or two G18 Autos. You can buy it in Heartland and transfer it to your campaign

After all, I have seen on the Internet that the found information with the time stated is only limited to 2018.
Recall all the RT agents I recruited while playing and never found the RTX Cyclone Tactical.
Including killing enemies.

The other two follower always have the primary weapon.

No other weapons were seen other than these three weapons.

How do you kill hearts with guns? I don't understand how this happened in this vid as well, was it recorded on green zone? No matter how much I shoot it when it "bleeds" it has invincibility frames or something. Just like you can't bomb it with 3 c4's at once.
I've watched this vid literally 30 minutes before I found G18 in my leathel game. And threw it in my locker because I thought it was garbage. And then I see this vid where you kill heart in two seconds with it. I instantly load my game equip this gun with advanced break and go for the heart. Aaaand? Nothing happened lol. I shot the full 50 rounds in a sec and the heart didn't even start the 1st bleeding tick. I had to smack it with melee few times. And then repeat two more times. So what am I doing wrong and how do you guys kill it in one go?
@@t.viktor9880 I think it cheats. This not lethal difficulty on the main game cause in nightmare mode you can 2 s no plague heart
@@sir.roe-say ya on lethal difficulty I always just unload it whenever I clear a plague heart and it still needs me to unload 2/5 of my eternal guards infinite rage magazine on it afterwards

How do you put the Mac 10 over g18? Wow you put a revolver as number 2 sheesh. Anything under 20 rounds isn't a good side arm to me. When I pick primary and sidearm I'm going for 100 round primary and 30 to 50 round sidearm it's about not reloading and not having to have a bunch of ammo on me
G18 cannot be used as your regular weapon. Only for Hearts and Juggs.
I don't like to tryhard on this game, also i only play on terror having fun with friends, and pick the weapon i like the most, But this video is useful

I tend to get them after recruiting Red Talon Operatives or Soldiers. However, the drawback on this weapon from my experience is that it's extremely loud. I've used it a lot on lower levels, but on lethal it can bring more problems than solve them.
To my knowledge it's pretty rare. I got really lucky and one of my survivors brought it back from a scavenging run. Its my main sidearm. Not because it's phenomenal...but because I only have one sidearm. Still pretty good.
RT traders will sometimes sell it.. Sometime they come equipped with it.. So kill them and loot it from their body ;)
Great list, but the #1 sidearm for most FUN is RTX Cyclone Tactical by a mile. Just don't hand it to your new community member on Lethal, lol...
Crzy 50 round mag kills the plague heart in 2s is crazy. years back full auto felt like the bullets wouldnt all register so it would take twice as much ammo to kill something compared to single shot, has that been fixed then?
need to run through the heartland campaign for getting all 7 echo weapons in one run too, will see if i get an echo 1
Do it. Latest patch made it much more likely you’ll get all of them in a single run.

You can get it in the Crazy Ex Red Talon Mission. You have 33% probability to get it in that mission.

I don't remember correctly. But I think SP5K Custom and the non Spec Ops version of MP5K are the ones you can get in plague hearts. Not sure.

Interesting take on side arms. Honestly i was a bit surprised with no.1. I dont find much use of burst or auto fire except when taking out plague hearts and that is quite situational. Having auto and burst on 15 round mag is quite underpowered for me, plus the gun breaks quite fast. In my opinion P220-9 elite would make it on the list too. Its quite fun gun to play with.
MP5K is a durable firearm but P220-9 is fragile. You can check my weapon durability video and its pinned comment.
@@StateofDecayScience in my experience parts are an issue only early on in the game even on the highest difficulty so durability is kind of obsolete. In those starting hours i would stick to unbreakable weapons anyways. Mag capacity and quietness are the only true stats that matter. Sight is always a plus too. I never stated that p220 is better than your no1, i just said its a good gun, for sure better than rtx cyclone for example.
Also full auto & burst on a 15 round mag gun is not underpowered... It will really be useful to take down a juggernaut quickly in a tight situation where meleeing is not possible

While I understand that. I would recommend future guide videos to include all weapon possibilities regardless of durability issues. Exploring the damage/usefulness of any given weapon should not be shut down simply by durability.
My point being if a weapon hits like a mack truck but breaks faster, some people would still like to know how to shoot diesel.
A lot of players love Sleeper cell PPK. It is 7% more ammo efficient than MP5K.. But 300% less parts efficient than MP5K.. I will totally use a 7% less ammo efficient gun than a 300% less parts efficient gun.
Besides, there's nothing special about PPK, MK3 and other handguns. They are just some ordinary handguns. Why would I use them if I have something better?
No handhun hits like a mack truck.. Guns from a same caliber will always deliver same power (there are few exceptions)

No accounting for taste I suppose. You wouldn't catch me dead with almost any of these guns unless I had nothing else to work with. My top 7 list would look absolutely alien to you. As far as I'm concerned, everything in this list apart from the Cyclone is just suppressed gunslinger trash that doesn't accomplish anything I can't accomplish with a screwdriver. (Except at least the screwdriver would be fun to use.)
Cyclone is NOT the only sidearm shotgun in the entire game. How could you forget about the sawn off 870? THAT'S a gun that brings some actual, unique capabilities to the table. What other, easily accessible sidearm can utterly trivialize triple-ferals in lethal on a a fresh, 0/7 stars survivor? AND it's indestructible. In contrast, Cyclone is great but you're rarely gonna get one early game and it's gonna cost you a fortune to upkeep. Cyclone is worth mentioning but the sawn off 870 is a bread and butter sidearm for early game lethal and it's egregious that it didn't make the list. Especially considering trash like the Mares leg made it in.
