I agree with that. He plays HARD, seems like at the limit, never safe. Pretty sure he’s done records with Oats long time ago, and he’s one of my favorites for sure.
Love the contrast in this group - Terrell tearing it up and pushing hard and then Dick brings it down laying all the way back. Superb.

In addition to Tarell being one of my all-time favorite musicians, I also like to use him as inspiration for a student who thinks or was told his embouchure doesn't "look right" lol

Fate took from us an amazing trumpeter and the author of this and many other great bop tunes. We should have gotten at least another forty years of top level playing and composing from the great Clifford Brown.
