This is fantastic. Thank you. 😊 I love how dropping in a theme automatically applies all aspects of the theme to your clips in your timeline! And makes it so quick and easy to go back to "No Theme".
Thank you so much for your tutorials! I never used themes so far but am definitely interested in doing so in the future! I really love listening to your explanations, you make it so easy to understand all the features of iMovie - even for me as a non native speaker. I missed your videos and was already a bit worried… Stay safe!
I haven't used Themes before, but with the flexibility you're demonstrating, they could be really useful. Excellent! The only thing I don't understand is why you don't have a million subs.
Outstanding video!! Very helpful and this video is going to save me HOURS. Your simple to understand approach and explanations are one of the main reasons I started to make videos. Thank you and please keep up the great work!
0.49. Second in to your vid. OMG. That is so COOL! Thanks Buddy. I wondered how my competition where doing these cool effects. Thanks a million Buddy. Steve Video editing, when I am not collecting up fallen leaves for customers as they are falling fast here in England.
Great video 🙌🏼😃 I have one question. I recently started my new UA-cam channel using iMovie. If I use the iMovie trailer templates for my video project for UA-cam, will my video be eligible for monetisation? So far I have uploaded bunch of videos on UA-cam and got none copyright issues.
One of iMovie’s biggest downfalls is it’s lack of decent transitions and titles. Most are very amateur looking or cheesy. I really wish they’d improve on a lot of things because capcut is looking more tempting. Thanks for showing how to get more choices 👏🏼👏🏼
Agree. iMovie needs updating. Thankfully, you can import titles and animations made in other apps, like Keynote. There are a lot of interesting choices out there, including Capcut. But I enjoy the challenge of trying to create as much as possible in this little iMovie - Keynote - QuickTime Player - GarageBand sandbox. 😅
Great video, very insightful. By any chance, do you know how to create phone Text messages that pop up on screen? Just to be clear, my character is texting someone and it would be cool if the actual text message pops up on screen.
Great video as usual, Michael. I'm so thankful to you for learning a new thing every week. The thing is: why does Apple use automatic content by default and not the other way around? LOL God bless you.
Random iMovie question. Two days ago I downloaded the most recent iMovie update on my 2015 Air and now, whenever I’m doing a long export, my battery is crashing suddenly from 100% to 1% while plugged in. Do you have any idea if it could be related, as in the update changed something about the demands of the export process that my older machine now can’t handle?
iMovie used to have a Sports Theme, but Apple discontinued it! They should bring it back, because it’s great to use for sport highlights, or anything with competition!
HI I NEED HELP I'm making movie for my sister service and I came accross a probem when I was trim the movie I noticed the music that i just entered cant be stretched to cover all the pictures its just stuck cant be moved right or left wha did I do wrong? PLS HELP i have to finish this before the service THANKS
Not for most videos, in my experience. I started using Final Cut when it came out in 1996, and Premiere before it was Pro. Sure, iMovie is limited, but it can do a lot. And a lot of creators just want something simple to use.
Oh, man I was gonna cover that, but was trying to keep video duration down. Only way I could manage to do it was have a separate project for each theme you want to use, then copy paste elements from each separate theme project into your main project.
@@MacVideoMagic I do things like that quite a bit cause I force iMovie to do more things than it should. My latest was having 3 of me doing something in a video. Had to do the cloning trick twice
This channel continues to blow my mind
100% agree
Man I'm learning so much from your videos. Trying to improve my metal detecting channel. Thank you so much!
A very useful and informative tutorial. Thank you for sharing Michael.
👍🏼
Thanks Michael, another very informative video!
Cool! I’m new to using iMovie and wondered what themes were. Thank you! I’ve learned so much from you. You are an excellent teacher. Much appreciated.
Happy to help!

Need to make more videos.
This was great!! Thank you so much. I love the trailers! How can I get more of them to choose from?
I just ran across your channel, this is great! Thank you for the information.
Thank you so much for these videos!
I’m trying to grow my buddy’s UA-cam channel for his LCS and these videos and tips have been a big help!
Super, thank you.
You're welcome!
I thought I'd seen a lot of your content, clearly not! I really like this feature - thank you for taking the time to explain it so comprehensively.
I have watched a lot of tutorial videos and you rank at the top in simplicity and teaching in a way that really makes it easy to follow
Very clear, I can now put Themes into operation immediately. Thanks for another truly helpful video!
Glad it helped!

Always, always, a great video/tutorial. Thanks so much!

@@MacVideoMagic Mike, is there a tutorial of yours for multi-cam editing? Thanks a lot.
@@fabiocarvalhoenglish Multi-cam editing in iMovie? How many cameras?
@@MacVideoMagic Just two, three tops. Homemade stuff.
@@fabiocarvalhoenglish Two is simple enough. Three would require a little extra work, but doable.
Off topic. Michael is there a way to rename individual clips in a timeline without having to export each renamed clip? TYIA
Awesome video! I will have to re-watch tomorrow without a double vodka martini in hand!
Good choice!
YOU ARE GREAT!
Thanks for continuing to make videos.
More to come!
Very useful. Thanks
Very cool stuff.... thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks! Plz. carry on👍
Do you use FCP or just iMovie ?
Just curious cause FCP is so much more powerful
FCP IS much more powerful. I just don't find myself needing all that power (or complexity) as much.

Don't know. You could try running Activity Monitor while exporting from iMovie and see if it's using a ton of resources.
Amazing
you are awesome
Any idea on why iMovie themes are not working on iPad or iPhone?
iMovie used to have a Sports Theme, but Apple discontinued it! They should bring it back, because it’s great to use for sport highlights, or anything with competition!
I'm old enough to remember when you could buy third-party themes and assets for iMovie. Would love to see those days again.

Why iMovie in the Era of premiere or final cut? iMovie is not too basic?
Not for most videos, in my experience. I started using Final Cut when it came out in 1996, and Premiere before it was Pro. Sure, iMovie is limited, but it can do a lot. And a lot of creators just want something simple to use.
Is it possible to use features from multiple themes in one movie?
