When cell phones first became more user-friendly, my old VP (reported directly to the CEO) had Bill Paxon's "Game over, man - Game OVER!" as his ring-tone for whenever the CEO would call him. Always made me laugh.
Did that with my first android phone...!
They mostly come out at night....

Hudson had some epic lines in this movie.
"Game over Man! Game over!"
@G E T R E K T 905 Humbayaa humbayaa, love and light to all living beings *grouphugs some random rock because there are no trees anywhere*
RIP
I had that as my ringtone one time.
The laser tag place in my hometown used to play that line at the end of each game
@@XenoRaptor-98765😅😅😅 really. So when it rang it' said game over man game over
In an interview Cameron said he thought the studio had Weaver locked up for a sequel but they didn't. Not knowing this he went and wrote the sequel expecting she would reprise her role as Ripley. Weaver wanted nothing to do with it after reading Cameron's script and realizing she had to be a gun totting bad ass. She hated guns. However, she liked the relationship between Ripley and Newt, but it still took lots of negotiating and upping her salary to a cool million before she signed on. Best million the studio ever spent.
So her lines in Avatar like "one idiot with a gun is enough" were from the heart, haha
I still don't understand why they didn't build a campfire and sing a couple of songs. It would have cheered up everyone, including the aliens.
"It's worth a try, but we don't even know if it's going to effect them."
Yeah aliens could have stuck their tails up the humans butts then toasted them like marshmallows
Wow
Hahaha. Paul Reiser is a comedian by trade!
They didn’t have to, after the crash but all the marshmallows would have been onboard and fried.
I just noticed that paul reiser fully seriously said " make a fire and sing a couple of songs"
Whaha "build a fire, sing a couple of songs, why don't we try that?" That part always cracks me up...
"That's great... it's fucking great, man... Wtf we are supposed to do... We are in some real pretty shit maaan!
That's it man!... Game over man! It's game over!"
- Hudson - from his book "The Principles of Optimism for Space Marines"
😂
Newt was so brave, 🔥 and I have seen such Bravery in real life.
Greatest movie ever made.
Great scene. Classic! RIP Bill Paxton.

'Game over man! GAME OVER!!!' RIP Bill Paxton
Look at 00:20 the ship takes off in darkness then TURNS OFF ITS LIGHTS so it gets even darker. This is truly uncompromised film making

That alien clearly lacked long-term planning 😏
Alien: ok when she take off I’m gonna eat her with my mini mouth ok
Alien brother:yeah but
Alien: no but this is gonna be the plan ok
Alien brother: but bro I really think u should

In the grand scheme of things if they left the colony was nuked and destroyed so its sacrifice bought more time for it's queen and siblings
Xenomorphs may be individually dangerous but in a situation like this in a hive they are part of a Hive Mind. The hive may not have known everything about the technology but they would have recognized that the dropship was part of the prey's plan to escape. So sacrifice a drine to keep that from happening.
@@danielhaire6677 Totally strategic attack on their flight crew to prevent escape. The Aliens knew what the were doin
I love the use of practical effects. Sure, the backdrop doesn't quite have the realism of today's movies, but actual fire, a realistic model, etc... is my preferred way to watch a movie.
CGI - 👎
A CGI backdrop with models, prosthetic makeup and actual fire for close effects shots would probably be perfect.
I'm not a CGI hater, but to my eyes this movie looks better than practically everything made today.
Practical FX look fake in a GOOD way that fires up the imagination, CG looks fake in a BAD way- just some dork at a computer making a videogame
Practical effects + CGI to blur the lines. Fury Road did this perfectly.
Two classic lines in one clip. Bravo man, bravo.
That was great! Bill Paxton had most of the best lines...mostly.
It just had to have been written on set. The line "build a fire, sing a couple of songs". It's too funny and he IS a professional comedian more than actor. I suspect he came up with that line during filming and the director said "let's shoot it" and then kept it. It's too funny to have been written by a screenwriter. It's such a supremely smart ass line. LOL. Love it.
agree, that line always makes me laugh.
and yes hes a comedian, so i honestly think he came out with it.
The scripted line is "Maybe we could build a fire and sing songs," so Reiser did get to tweak it a little. Paxton's "Game over" line is not in the script.
This is as classic now as Gone with the Wind. Modern movies don't even come remotely close as they lack imagination. Everything has to be done in a rush these days.
Only Cameron himself never rushes his films. Case in point Avatar 2 took 13 years
So much epic dialogue in such a short sequence
This might be the most iconic 5 minutes in the history of movies.
Best war movie ever. You won't believe this, but it captures the spirit of the Vietnam War perfectly.
You mean the futility, the death and the corporate greed?
@@Anon_E_Muss More like how hubris and overwhelming technology is going to be defeated by unstoppable determination and a solid knowledge of the physical and social terrain.

Burke “ sing a couple of songs”
Hudson be like “ what the fxxk is this guy talking about right now man~~
I love how vicious the alien looks, it’s all snarl and tension. Looks like they sped the shot up to give it a more creepy feel, too. God, I love this movie so much. It’s imprinted in my subconscious.
I love that LV426 is so lovely that _THIS_ is when you have bright daylight. Literally can't see shit and the wind is constantly howling 40 miles per hour. Couldn't find a better place to terraform, really. I assume they aimed for the difficulty just to show-off with their atmosphere processors.
the installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it
Burke's happy bc his precious alien site wasn't nuked from orbit.
The metal pipe flying through the air and making that CLANK sound was perfect.
2:25 So that was a day, such a great place to live for humans :D
I wish they explored Burke's idea of building a fire and singing songs more.
🌈🤣👍
Intruder sensor or heat sensor install, once the door is open. Every one should have his own signal on his side, so incase of any intruder, the ship will activate a alarm.
Two of the best lines in the film. "They mostly come at night...mostly.", and Paxton's immortal "Game over man. Game over!"
The disposable characters always have names like Spunkmeyer....might as well have worn a red shirt if it didn't clash with the grey aesthetic of the film;
poor Spunky didnt even get killed on screen!!!!!!!!!!
They mostly come at night, mostly was sampled on a techno record in the 1990s
That "Run" line was later reused in the Rebelion developed Aliens vs Predator on PC. I believe it was on one of thr multiplayer maps where it was used as an easter egg, probably the Hadley's Hope map, which requires you to shoot the ceiling in the control room to activate it
Hope you enjoyed your flight, please fly drop ship again
This is mostly a great and epic movie. Mostly.
Am I the only one who noticed hicks almost got blown up just so he could protect Ripley from the explosion?
Scariest creatures in the cinemas. They haunt my dreams.
lol people think that xenomorphs are dumb beasts but these things are smart and cunning, look at that bad boy how he hitchhiked on the dropship and destroyed it
Nobody:
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire - sing a couple of songs, huh?
"Build a campfire sing a couple of songs!" Whaha.....the whole cinema erupted when he said that when the film first came out....
Your a lucky person to see this masterpiece in the cinema.
@xctkillaprodigyx2586 Yes thanks.....it was definitely the best Alien film out of all of them.....I also saw the original first Alien film at the cinema too.....but then I'm nearly 60 lol.....
We'd better get back because they mostly come at night.
Mostly.
Nit- picky I know, but I always struggled to believe that the professional hard ass hot shot drop ship pilot would have allowed her ship to be left open and unguarded permitting a nasty critter access. And she wouldn’t have been so dismissive of Spunkmeyer’s observations in such a dangerous environment. I’ll see myself out. ... 😆
Don’t forget tho - she hasn’t seen the critters yet SO she’s still at the jokey stage the others were at initially - full of bravado and disbelief … maybe lol
@4nd12006 Hmmm, actually you’re quite right; well spotted! 😊👌
@@4nd12006 Also she was one of the more skeptical ones towards Ripley's account of the alien. Now most if not all of the marines were skeptical to an extent, but Ferro appears to be more so than many of them, so she would've been dismissive of the xenomorph' s terrifying capabilities!
@@jmwoods190 good point - and, rewatching it, spunkmeyer never made it clear what he’d seen…..so, being unaware, sceptical, parked outside and experienced - she had no reason to think anything was wrong
That always bothered me...poor operational security by a professional soldier..
its her fault. he already said "that there's something" but she ignored it
I love this movie but as an old army dude, I shook my head. My observations: (1) This is NOT a military unit. More like a gaggle of hunters. (2) Why was there not a staff left on board to run operations on the mother ship, as well as additional Marines held in reserve for backup? (3) Why is Lt. Gorman sitting back while his unit is well forward? Gorman and his XO should be with the troops to make quick decisions. Notice when they had problems communicating because of the mayhem, Gorman could not make critical decisions. If he needs someone to sit back at that command control, then have an operations guy oversee that position. Lt Ripley had more instinct for leadership and cojones than Gorman, who initially panicked to the point he could not make decisions.
I suppose the whole point to Gorman's character was that he was meant to be somewhat incompetent to allow Ripley's character to shine. I think also that this was Gorman's first experience with this kind of mission and couldn't predict how he would react under these types of circumstances. Just my guess.
Good thoughts. And why would Gorman's command send such an inexperienced officer in the face of the unknown? Another thought: why would the Marines send in Hudson, a short-timer on this mission?
@@dink7278
It was a setup.
Remember: Burke KNEW about the aliens at LV426. They *wanted* the mission to fail - that's why they sent a wet behind the ears greenhorn like Gorman to command the mission...
Prometheus was worse. In that movie scientist played the stupid guys.
This was Gorman's second active combat mission. But even if he were very experienced, it doesn't change. A commander at his level cannot lead sitting in the rear.
The alien was quite intelligent
Yes intelligent enough that got himself killed 😒

MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!
The second best movie after the first
Incredible film, but if you have a Bishop droid...why not just send in an army of them in full combat gear.
Besides the likely high cost of producing such advanced androids, there was originally a scene (which the novelization retains) where Bishop is crawling through the tunnels to reach the colony's comm array and runs into a xeno. It ignores him because, as he theorizes, it doesn't read him as a living creature, let alone a viable host for more xenos. W-Y doesn't just want the xenos brought back, it wants them to impregnate humans and other hosts to see what happens so if Bishop droids are a no-go there then there's no point sending them in.
@@draconusfrigidus The point was that the idea of having humans with weapons is meaningless when you have that type of technology.
I think because they've seen The Terminator in the Alien universe and nobody wants a machine uprising. Bishop is pacifistic and three rules coded by programming. He noted Ash likely malfunctioned but even with android strength Ash was hilariously inept at murdering Ripley. It would find it reasonable that to prevent any possibility of androids starting a machine war, they'd just as soon be programmed to be non-violent. As Ripley 2 later said about Call, "No Human is that Humane.".
In the scene when Ripley first learned that Bishop was an android, he said that the earlier models were unstable and that the current ones had safeguards programmed in to make sure they would not hurt any humans. That would have made them useless for most combat situations since they would probably be against humans.
@@3Rayfire Yeah didn't Yaphet Kotto bust Bilbo's head open with something, just WHACK
I would watch it in theater, the movie even should get a good 3D conversion. The best in the whole series.
but the beauty of the original alien is- when the viewer goes in blind to the Alien universe, has no knowledge before hand what the movie is about- it starts off jovial and then the unaware viewer is presented with the chest burster at dinner, and suddenly the viewer realizes its a parasite in play without it having to be explained. the shock value and repulsion from that scene cannot be redone in a sequel because the viewer already knows the biology.
Aliens Dark Descent deserves a lot after Isolation.
I want to know why they landed that vessel the APC, and opened the door and roamed around outside especially when they knew what was going on inside with aliens running around, I also just realized that she reached for her gun her side arm, that would’ve had no effect on that creature, and she would’ve splattered acid all over the place. They should not have been roaming around with the door open unattended, they were in cryo- stasis or whatever that was for how many days weeks or months and traveled how many star systems to reach their destination only to be careless 😊
She's cocky and hasn't actually seen the xenos yet it what they can do. Earlier Spunkmeyer brought Bishop some gear in the lab which is why the ramp was open. She never believed in the xenos at all before the landing.
I thought the same thing. But in a way, it's the analogy again of the Marines over confidence in the face of inexperience with this foe. 'Oh, we're away from the colony itself parked here, we're safe...'
Plus, it's subjecting too quickly to authority - Spunkmeyer following orders without question. A more experienced officer would have stood his ground, and realised the potential danger - again, the dangers of inexperience and blind loyalty.
Its actually more credible than it might have seemed, at first glance.
I'd like to know what the two pilots were doing and why they didn't close the access to the ship. I love this movie, I know I'm nitpicking, but I still would love to have it explained what the hell they were doing with the ramp wide open.

Listen to your Crew Chief.

I love how they look like the Marines from Halo
Actually, the marines in Halo were inspired by this film.
I would think they would have left a pilot on the ship that could fly the other drop ship down in case of emergency, like this. It doesn't seem like they would've left the ship completely empty with no one on it.
That's come up with Cameron as well, who conceded it probably was a plot hole, but would have obviously made the story less exciting.
However, it's feasible in the narrative they could have figured this was another straight forward 'bug hunt' cleansing, so they didn't need orbital support. The blind arrogance of the Marines towards their foe was a critical theme of the film.
I'm surprised that there wasn't anybody on the Sulaco. Why leave it totally empty?
Exactly, or have a few other marines, pilots etc on standby awaiting on the ship in orbit. But hey its movie afterall so who knows.
@hardstyle905 Still seems kinda dumb not to leave somebody, what if the original dropship had a mechanical failure? Best to have a backup always just in case.
What happened to spunkmire? Did the alien waste him first or just go straight for the cockpit and splatter farrow all over the windscreen
Since he's not responding i would assume the alien got him first, before his remains blew up with the ship.
@@Lachgummei The alien should have tried to capture him and take him back to the colony, maybe it incapacitated him but with the ramp closed it was trapped so it went up and the door opened automatically on movement and things went as shown from there.
