The thing I love about Ripley is she's not some badass space marine, trained for combat and all that. She was a commercial flight officer. But when the spaceshit hits the fan she's smart and capable and won't let anything stop her! Great character and Alien and Aliens were fantastic films!
She is military officer always. Because she is Lt. Ripley. That's the true story, why she can use all the weaporns and rule the vechiels.

She's basically a space trucker forced into the boots of a Marine. And might I say she does it better than the actual trained grunts.
Remember, she has survival experience, as well. She was an invaluable source of info.

As far as I'm concerned, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection never happend. Ripley, Newt, Hicks, and Bishop make it safely back to Earth and live happily ever after. The End.

They fill in some events (albeit officially noncanon now) that transpired for Newt and Hicks after ALIENS.
They were released 2 years before Aliens3 ever came to be.

Alien 3: We don't do that here
Exactly the reason why I hate Alien 3. It would be good without killing off the two amazing characters, I have no problem with the dark atmosphere, but I will always dislike this movie because of its beginning. Also the egg on the Sulaco is a huge plot hole.
@@Meteor_555 Biggest reason why I still refuse to watch that film and probably never do it, ever (just watch reviews to know it). The first two movies were just so fantastical. They completely ruined it in Aliens 3 and later titles. Guess the only redeemable modern take on this classic is Alien Isolation, which follows the story of Amanda Ripley, Ellen's daughter. Story's more fleshed out and probably the best 'continuation' to the series (it's a prequel but better).
Aliens 3, was an awful and unnecessary sequel and cash grab - as far as I'm concerned, it does not exist.

Bishop saved Newt while already powering down from damage, and afterwards on his deathbed gave them both one last blood smeared smile to let them have a very needed human moment for tension release.
As a Trekkie i will always like Data, but Bishop man... Lance Henriksen did the greatest of jobs to make his android interact slightly too wooden and calculated for being human, but same time giving the feeling he had the most human heart one can imagine.
In space, everyone can hear the Alien Queen scream...

This is an amazing scene for all three characters. Bishop finds new respect for Ripley, Newt finds another mom, and Ripley has closure for losing her daughter.
In fact Ripley also gets over her hate for synthetics and has a newfound respect for Bishop as well, as he saved Newt twice.
This is why I kinda hated Aliens 3. It's like they went thru all this trouble yet the Queen Xenomorph still won in the end.

You don't have to accept 'Alien 3'. It's a film created because the studio wanted to make money, not because there was always a story that had to be told (and a story that definitely continued from 'Aliens'). Cameron obviously intended this to be the end of Ripley's encounters with the aliens. And the clumsy way 'Alien 3' just jettisons characters to set up the mood/story decided on means that you can ignore it.

Well a few things to factor here. So, the Xenomorph Queen (without the egg sac) is about the size of a T-rex. A T-rex is roughly 17000 lbs, however, T-rex’s have much denser bodies; a lot of heavily packed muscle, dense bones, more organs, ect. So, let’s knock off 5000 lbs. so now it weighs 6 tons, which is a little less than the weight of 3 cars. The way her elbow was locked, most likely the weight would help anchor her arm a bit which would help, though 6 tons of pressure would definitely break her arm (though probably not tear it off or anything)
Now, three more factors. One is the wind. Air flees into a vaccum at about 940 MPH, but obviously this gets less intense the further you are from the vacuum so they MAYBE could have held on with a good grip of the grate, but given that Bishop is an android, he probably has a very strong grip. Now, the other, less obvious factor. Since nobody on the ship is floating around, there’s artificial gravity, and since the queen floats away right after letting go, it’s a fair guess she was atleast part way out of the ship and weighing less (or nothing besides the force from the wind if she’s already out)
The last factor is that it’s a movie and it doesn’t have to be realistic
I always thought that she should've wedged her body through the ladder with one leg hanging out. Then if they'd have her knee dislocate and the shoe yank off leaving a broken, bloody, dangling foot. Then have her drag her mangled leg up the ladder and pull it with her arms out of the way of the closing bay doors. That would've rocked.
Looks like the buttons from the side panel next to the airlock to manually close it are from a fruit machine (gambler) because they all say "HOLD" lol. I never noticed that in the 80's with grainy VHS

I really love sigourney ever since the first movie 1979 alien and aliens 1986 they were the best movies ever made until this day and still the best.
They're completely separate. You don't need to pull one down to elevate the other.
I really wish that the "Alien" franchise would have ended with this movie. How could anyone think they could possibly top it? But you know Hollywood---if there's a chance of making a quick $$ off of past glories, they'll find a way to do it.
Bishop is a real one, almost destroyed and still saved Newt.
When Ripley 'jumps' from the loader to the ladder at 0:07 you can just get a sense of how this scene was shot. That is you can sort of tell that the ladder is actually on the floor of the set, and that the air lock is actually horizontal, not vertical.
Still looks great though. Not a single frame of CGI in sight, all in-camera, practical effects!

In my imagination Alien 3 never happened. They simply made it to safety and Bishop was repaired.
Seems to me that the whole ship would have depressurized in a few seconds.
The spacecraft's environmental system was replenishing the atmosphere all the time during the leakage, duh, ;-)
The novelisation by Alan Dean Foster mentions that the environmental system was synthesising new air and otherwise replacing the lost atmosphere, or rather that it would replenish the lost atmosphere in time once the inner door was closed (in the novelisation, the outer door wasn't manually opened... rather the queen's acid blood dissolved through it).
Also, it's a large ship with a fairly small opening. Imagine water in a bath draining down the plughole... it takes several minutes to fully drain, but any small particles caught near the vortex quickly get sucked down.
For a personal critique, I'm surprised there was no interlock that prevented both the inner and outer doors from being opened simultaneously, but this could easily be explained by Weyland/Yutani's shortcomings if they were a contractor in the construction of the Sulaco (a military vessel rather than one of their own)... or there are legitimate reasons where both doors are open simultaneously like if the Sulaco is in dry-dock (either in orbit or on a planet) and it's easier to pass through equipment and cargo with both doors open... given its size, it looks like a maintenance or small cargo airlock rather than a primary entry/exit point (being located in the floor makes it inconvenient and physically demanding for personnel, it's too small to fit a vehicle like a dropship, and red warning lights on all sides are asking to be damaged by anything large and unwieldly).
Plot armor protects against lung damage from explosive depressurization.
