HI :)....hard to believe the FPS with this relative short draw lenght. Maybe the rubber is going into the way of measurement and give the chrony a wrong impulse? In the vid it looks a bit so. Shooting slingshots for years, mostly 8-9mm steelballs. For me its hard to get over 360 fps..with fast release shooting tappered theraband black. I allways stay 1-2 m behind the chrony. If your measures are right...these metal springs seem to put a lot more speed in the shot.

I like this design but it would be a heavy piece to carry around , perhaps you oculd use some high grade alluminium piping to lower the over all weight? Good work though your a very inventive person :-)

147.4 feet per second. NOT METERS. That should be obvious by the relatively small amount of force to load it. Rubber does not contract fast enough to reach the speed you posted. The steel coil springs were not stressed enough to add any speed whatsoever.

He says he uses 8 mm steel ball that's 1.25 grams. This corresponds to 19.29 grain. The velocity is 453 ft/s. The formula tells us that Energy = 453*453*19.29/(2*32*7000) = 8.8 FPE. If you do a quick Google search on standard 8 mm steel ball. It should be around 2 grams. That's around 30 grains. If we redo the math with this value, we get Energy = 13.7 FPE So you can say that the energy in FP is between 8 and 14. That's not bad for a slingshot.
Your slingshot is very interesting and I would like to make it too. But apart from the springs, I don't know where to buy the other components. Would you please give me some advice?

Its outer diameter is 25mm. It is mainly used as an inlet pipe for household heating. I believe you can easily find it at your local hardware store. If you can’t buy it, you can use pvc pipe, aluminum pipe, copper pipe or even wood. I believe it will not have any effect on the launch speed, but if the pvc pipe is too thin or too soft, pull the rubber band. The pvc pipe may bend at the time, which will affect the accuracy of the slingshot. Similarly, the corner code used as the trigger part and the front connection part are common parts for woodworking and daily work. They can be easily purchased from local hardware stores or online stores. Finally, the bracket for the trigger part may be It’s not easy to find, it’s an uncommon part, google "Electric push rod motor heavy linear actuator bracket", You can find it

That has roughly the impact power as an licens free airgun with a 8mm 1.25 gram steel ball, 13.5 joule, or 10 ft-lbs. Well, a bit over that. But i get the weight of an 8mm steel ball to 2 grams, that will be 21.5 joule, or 16 ft-lbs.
I think the speed ja measured im fps, I mean there's 147fps and that's 161kph. I don't believe that this slingshot accelerates those projectiles to over 500kph.
