Lyrics:
Dearest ones in an eye of a star life is brief
A speck of dust from grass to leaf
If on the ascendant your soul arises
And doesn’t contradict what your esence extemporises
I’ve been the hermit and the love thief
And paid for the privilege with tears of grief
Which soon by nature circumcises
This song will be brief
One day in the spring a question fell
And went straight through me
Do bleeding angels sing when close to tears?
I need the answer
So if you go before me would you let me know?
If you go before me would you let me know?
One day in the year a bullet screamed
And ripped straight through you
And I saw the sun begin to bleed
Above a flood of tears and sirens
And are spirit’s colour blind?
So if you go before me would you let me know?
If you go before me would you let me know?

Simply beautiful!
One of the all time greats right here. 🔥
It’s a shame he didn’t do the poem before the song began, this record and “it’s been said” are two of his most somber and beautifully sounding records
Hot damn! He is amazing 🤩
xoxoxox
It makes you truly wonder the state of the music industry when such talent is pushed aside. He was truly placed on this earth to do this and only this. Very underrated artist. Very underrated song.
+saturncrush Yes. I still don't understand why he didn't get any bigger.
Such an amazing talent.
Totally agree❤I adore TTDA❤❤
He said it saved his life to leave the industry, and that most of his peers are dead, so it was the best for him in the long term to not be in the industry anymore
T T D has one of the greatest singing voices over the last three decades easily.
This should have millions of views.this is raw pure magic to your ears.pulls the heart strings.
It most definitely should have more views. His talent has always been underappreciated.
When I first heard this song on the album, I thought of my mom who was still very much alive. This has taken on a new meaning to me since she passed two years ago.
I love that the mood of this song transcended my sorrow.
Thank you.
Thought of mine too who passed last year ❤️
That voice will never ever ever ever ever ever be topped.....EVER!!!!!
I saw a clip of this on Instagram and HAD to find the full version. This song has been on repeat for the last three days. I recently lost my grandmother nearly two months ago and this song... speaks deeply to me. Different circumstances of death, but still a loss, personified and put into soulful lyric and melody. Thank you for you artistry Sananda...
🔥🔥🔥
Brilliant
I hear a little Stevie in this, But this man stands alone!!! Extroadinary ❤️❤️❤️
I am so grateful he found peace.
And didn't give to the corrupt music industry of the US.
I just wish Prince And Michael would have followed Sananda.
They might still be with us.
Michael Jackson insecure, selfish ass pushed Terrence out the game, which was a blessing in disguise.
I PLAYED THIS SONG WHEN MY FATHER AND GRANDFATHER PASSED IT MADE MY WHOLE FAMILY CRY POWER SONG
Missed your voice King!
Deep brother with a true heart and voice....underrated in this commercial world that only wants to see naked fresh and skirts....come back soon Terence, we miss your voice!!!!
agree! absolutely underrated, such an extremely talented singer-songwriter.
Oh my goodness! I keep stumbling upon various songs from his tours and this song is fire! If only I followed him back in the day, I would have crossed the pond to see this performance. Amazing!! If he did a tour in the USA with all his love songs, it will top the charts. The newer and older generations who appreciate R&B would support him infinitely. I pray that God speaks to his heart to visit and grace us with his talent again. 🥰
The final vocal run on this song gives me chills everytime
Wow this is incredible
I'm getting a Nat King Cole vibe from this... I don't know why?
This is so powerful. What artist really thinks about lyrics anymore
Love, love, love this song. I wish I could hear it live. TTD's voice is amazing.
I love you Sananda. For your beauty comes from Heaven inside and out. God bless you & thank you for this song 🙏 as well as many of your classic songs! Lord keep him singing songs for the Soul.
Amen 💙
Love, the only sentiment that could possible explain how open and inspired my heart is after listening to this. It has been my fav song of yours for years but it has also taken me that long to truly understand the beauty and depth of the expression in your voice and the deeper meaning of your word. To truly lose a loved one yet still be connected by spirit just to know they are in the better place and they guide you. Love
Beautiful. Made the tears come.....
I knew you were very talented the first time I saw u on MTV many years back, but I did"nt realise
I could see u were very talented many years back when I first saw u on MTV,( I was instantly fixated ,u were unforgettable) ,but I have only realised what a great voice u have thru' listening to these slow songs, you're a Renaissance Man !!!
So very true, under rated isn't the word. first privileged to hear this true raw talent and I only a kid no more than 5 or 6 years old , 30 years later just listening to him still get that very same feeling given only given by an inspirational artist and vocalist. very few out there can or have given us as much.. bring it back ☺
Chris is sexy af 😍

Love
I only saw him once, he came to Chicago in the 90's.
Bless my ears, bless my heart, bless my eyes!!!!!
Beautiful!!!♥️🙏
my favourite song of Sananda..
Un Genio oculto al gran público!
The record industry in America was not ready for such talent, if Black owned
As good as Stevie Wonder who btw appreciates Sananda’s talent!
Baby, Baby, that's all I can say!
There is no music in the charts anymore. Just people creating things to fill voids in other peoples life's
Here because of the Instagram posts of the victims of the Buffalo shooting…
this is a time you want to remorselessly kill the ad. then, WOW, wow, wow. -retract that, "bullet" is just a little bit...distorted as to disappear the line a bit. u know which comment to keep...
Somebody tell rolling stone
@alvinriggs Im jealous I would have killed to see him there. How long ago was that?
BAD ASS! :)
how do I find this piano chords?
such a great singer its such a shame he dropped out the limelight, although back in the day he may have had a pretty big ego he deserves to have one, its no different to Kanye West today, the things Kanye says and comes out with are a thousand times worse than what Terence ever said, yet nobody seems to bat an eyelid at Kanye in fact you get people calling him silly things like the next Jesus, this world is in just though and always has been when it comes to talent, if someone like Terence with his musical ability can just be overlooked and treated like old trash. Either ahead of his time? or just a straight up shame.
Terence Trent Darby reminds me a lot of somebody like Maxwell not vocally or musically but in the paths they took Terence had a unique maybe even strange sophomore album as did maxwell but max compromised himself and went back vanilla with his third album and career , Terence as you can see here did no such thing ( I respect him tremendously because of it ) and he fell into relative obscurity I'm not sure how old you are but you might remember new jack swing al b sure , boys 2 men , guy ect... Terence didn't fit in and didn't try to also hip hop was on the rise , it's almost like he said " oh you didn't like my sophomore album cool , well your gonna hate this one " Terence was a victim of circumstance and well ahead of his time I still don't get all the intricacies of his music but it is a shame he isn't more known.
Nat turner21 Thats a great comparisson between Maxwell and Terence Trent Darby their careers did pan out fairly similar to each others, i guess its just life in general individuality is never admired by the guys in suits wanting to make money as its not going to sell big numbers, they want to put you into a mould and churn out same song after same song because it makes money, at least Terence tried to do different thing's with each album and keep the listeners interested thats while i'll always admire him he experimented and i think vibrator is one of the greatest albums ever, period! the instrumentals and the lyrics to it are phenomenal. and yes i remember the days of new jack swing, Bell Biv Devoe etc. guess that was just the masses taste back in the day, if only Terence could've invented a time machine I'm sure today he'd get the recognition from everyone that he so truely deserves.
Interesting you say that about record executives I call em empty suits lol but if I'm not mistaken Terence was signed to Columbia with Michael Jackson ( might have something to do with his lack of promotion if you know what I mean ) but all in all I think Terence was tired of the whole hardline gimmick after about 88 but A&R's and Columbia wanted another wishing well but they got faith in these desolate times 😂 , Terence kept getting better sonically with each album but ( I love Symphony or Damn personally ) he was outcasted because he wouldn't play ball , reason I mention Max besides being my favorite soul singer this side of Marvin Gaye is because I remember distinctly Embrya and how it was received how it was called "artsy" "pretentious" the 6 minute non radio friendly singles and all similar things Terence got flack for plus that damn dream Hampton article that drove the poor guy in a depression , Max got saved by R Kelly writing fortunate and giving him a number 1 hit , imagine if say after neither fish nor flesh Terence had a song written for him by say babyface , he may still be around or had more mainstream longevity but maybe not been the artist he ended up becoming.
He changed his name to Sananda Maitreya and is still creating music. This is his UA-cam channel.
