Stevie is Stevie. He never fails to outdo himself. George Michael proved that he can hold his own with anyone. He was a great adaptable talent. At times, he even sounded like Stevie. Wow! May he rest in peace.
Sorry for writing you, just out of curiosity your page come up on my suggested friend lists so I was just wondering if I knew you from somewhere?!!!...
The most amazing thing about this is there was no rehearsal. I just read the 'George Michael: A Life' biography and had to look up this performance. It's even more incredible than described in the book. His voice was so soulful and gorgeous, and combined with Stevie, it is just a heavenly performance.
Stevie Himself, Daft Punk and Pharell were backed by great musicians including Nile Rodgers in 2014 and considered the second best grammy performance ever after MJ's 93' performance.
George is the only male artist with the amazing vocals able to pay due respect to Stevie's musical genius. This is one of the greatest live duets ever.
George Michaels was such a beautiful person, but didn't know and believe it himself. If only he had a true friend, he'd probably would have still been with us. RIP
The period of 9/11/2001 was one of the worst of my life. The Twin Towers fell. My wife and I were being challenged economically with the possibility of losing both incomes that put food on the table for us and our two young children. No one, neither of us nor the greater world around us knew where to turn for answers. We had no words to express what we were feeling as a family and as a country. Then in the televised 911 Tribute I saw Stevie Wonder and George Michael sing this song from Stevie's Songs In the Key of Life. Somehow I had missed this song when it was first released. But when I heard it that night in 2001, the song's words struck me to my core. I found a quiet place away from everyone else and I allowed myself to weep. I will forever be grateful to Stevie for writing the song and to George Michael for helping to deliver it so beautifully that night. That song said what many of us could not put into words. R.I.P. George Michael. You were one of the best singers of our generation. You were a great artist and a courageous human being!
PhilCherry3 As a fully awakened human being, how can the people who heard this, still believe that 9/11 was not a CIA/Mossad job. How can the people who love Stevie Wonder and George Michael and Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin still believe in Donald Trump?
Miss George got to see him three times .we were lucky to get very front row tickets st the Albert Hall London and I remember feeling that he wasnt enjoying the show although totally professional he seemed tired, something wasnt right
To think that George was only 20, 21 when this aired live. His voice developed into a velvety, soulful, silkiness that no one else had. He delivered his vocals with tenderness, vulnerability, and passion that shot straight to your soul. A rare one of a kind talent, that wrote arranged and produced all of his music. Love him always! No wonder he had the respect of, Stevie, Aretha, Elton, Whitney, Frank Sinatra’s ( considered him the best voice of the 20th century) and countless other contemporaries. ❤️
Amen! Look at the tender reverence he has for Stevie. Musically, he was always humble, and very organic and giving in his approach. Funny how after Faith was released, as enormous as it was, it took a while for people to realize the depth of his greatness.
Not many British artist, get to sing with so many American music legends, like GM did, which goes to show just how good he was, and these legends knew this man had soul, and I'm sure were as keen to work with him as he was to work with them.
The response of the audience was really important to Michael. That's why they applauded after his first prelude. They were convinced that "the boy can sing...."
IN THE WAKE OF WHATS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF ALL COLOURS IN THE MOVEMENT LET THE WORDS OF THIS SONG BE A REMINDER THAT WE WILL GET THE RESPECT AND EQUALITY WE DESERVE,
Beautiful duet!! People say he was a bit intimidated by Stevie but if they´ve listened to all George´s duets they´ve noticed George never tried to be better or be the lead one just "team work".He was respectfull. And as for Stevie....wow ..he is pure music from the age of 12 as i remember.
THIS IS A SONG THAT NEEDS TO BE PLAYED EVERY SINGLE DAY, ESPECIALLY THESE DAYS, WITH ALL THE UNNECESSARY HATRED, EVILDOING & BITTERNESS, TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER IN THIS PRESENT WORLD / PRESENT TIME. THANK YOU STEVIE & GEORGE ( RIP, MISS YOU MUCH ). PRAYING FOR THE WORLD.
this was the first time i saw GM. We were like, WOW he just blew the top off the apollo. i think the crowd was slow to get on their feet out of shock. This dude sounding like this next to stevie. it was incredible. been a fan ever since.
What an honor to have seen George for the first time at this venue. I did not see this video until recently, as I came of age when GM released Faith. I've always known George as an artist that can belt his voice on the turn of a dime. However, what a way to introduce himself to the world as a soul singer coming out of WHAM! days. And next to Stevie Wonder at the Apollo. Stunning. Watching this recording is a spiritual experience on so many levels.
Oh my goodness, I love that story M.H.Lewis. I saw George live a few times and his voice and and what he could do with it was like no others. I loved him then, I love him today and I will love him until the end. :)
OMG, love George Michael he is so gorgeous. Love his hair like this, and his earrings. His voice is always so perfect, he makes everything he sings his. He is excellent live...one of the few performers who actually sing their way through a performance.
And that's not the only reason we love him. Remember, Stevie also made some of the best records of all time within a short span of time. This is my second favorite Wonder tune of all time, barely less than "I Believe...."
Wow. To be invited to sing with SW at the Apollo when he was still with Wham! I guess SW recognized immense talent even then ... and GM kept getting even better as a singer and composer while he grew into a beautiful man and magnetic performer.
Im 51 saw george on faith tour i was 19 hes simply flawless voice im lost rip my friend im always going to let ur music play on sing on in heaven george michael love u paula
Two LEGENDS!!!!!! I'm so glad I was able to see George Michael in concert at Madison Square Garden. He was a PHENOMENAL vocalist!!!! Such a huge loss!!! Continue to RIP George Michael. ⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
Knowing how much George admired Stevie’s music, it is just fantastic to see him perform next to his hero, and dare I say it absolutely hold his own in that duet. Peace out George.
This is a tough, tough time... But when I see Stevie at the keyboard and I hear his blessed words, I feel like everything is ok in the world for a moment.
Stevie is not only a brilliant songwriter, but also a brilliant singer, so of course he is magnificent here. The amazing thing about George is the fact that he is NOT overshadowed by Stevie, as pretty every other white singer would be, but stands alongside Stevie perfectly. That's why Stevie respected George so much. An amazing accomplishment.
I was very young when this was one but it was an event. George tore this up. You can tell that George was a bit nervous but happy to be there of course. He LOVED Stevie and you can hear it in his vocal styling.
I'm from the uk and GM was and remains hugely l8ved and missed. HmThis performance would gave been a dream come true for him and if he was nervous it didnt show x
Stevie and Michael, two of the nicest humans to ever grace the earth. They are both genuinely nice human beings with wonderful hearts, souls, and voices. They are not about race or hate or anything but love. Why compare their voices, it's not necessary. Just like Rodney King said, "Why can't we all just get along?"
GM was so young, amazing performance at such a young age.GM was still trying to find himself personally. He still was heavier here and the blonde hair. Thank you, Gm for letting us get to know you.

I hope younger singers up and coming, especially those who are teenagers will NOT do any drugs, and NOT smoke too, and perhaps lengthen their lives. Once you have made it and people adore you, it really saddens them, when you die too young. RIP GM, and thanks to Stevie Wonder who trusted in this talent to invite him in to sing with him. Very awesome!
I agree he was gorgeous and drop dead sexy. Always love listening to him sing....he sounds so good in my Convertible! I can’t believe I’ll never hear him sing live again.
It is truly amazing how this song resonates today with everything that’s going on in the US and around the world love is in need of love today. Thank you Stevie and RIP George Michael.
This program aired when I was 16(the 80's was a great time to grow up at the time with great music, movies & T.V. programs) George killed it that night with his performance. George had the talent & the pipes to duet with best like Stevie & later on Aretha Franklin. George will be sorely miss.
Beautiful message. great performance by Stevie Wonder & George Michael. Thats why I LOVE music, it is unirversal. ENJOY the performance. They get a standing ovation!
Stevie is Stevie. He never fails to outdo himself. George Michael proved that he can hold his own with anyone. He was a great adaptable talent. At times, he even sounded like Stevie. Wow! May he rest in peace.

This performance, by itself, is better than anything we've been seeing on the Grammys for the past two decades!!!

The boy's smile at the beginning when he watches George says everything!
Actor Emmanuel Lewis at 14 y.o. (born 1971). Look up the show "Webster" and he made other appearances elsewhere. He stood 3' 6" full grown
This is fantastic. It is Church music, it is a Hymn, it is a devotion to love, kindness and altruism.
Georgios was generous , had many charities he supported, he wrote, arranged, his music, grateful he left a lovely body of music

George Michael did a duet with Aretha Franklin another with Whitney Houston and one with Mary J Blige. This man had soul in him! Miss him!
