    Omg the crossovers are becoming my nemesis! I had some initial success but now just keep on getting whipped. How wide should you extend the arms before crossing? I’m flailing all over the place.

    • @RopeRage
      @RopeRage  2 роки тому

      crossovers are definitely tricky to learn, you'll find that your arms are extended wide when starting but don't worry! this will correct with time as you get more comfortable.
      It's the mind thinking "I need to keep this rope far away so that if I mess up it doesn't hit me", hence the extension

      @@RopeRage Hei Glen nice to hear back, it is no problem. The last 10 months I have devoted only to the Double Unders case. I have a whole room in papers, the chair has already been a shelf for several days, so I write this standing. I have 2 notebooks dedicated to skipping rope. They are so good, I watched the materials about skipping rope in math lessons also yours, some of notes are from your materials.
      A few days ago I decided to make a profit out of them, I started writing an audiobook about double unders. It will be called: "Be king of Double Unders". This is the biggest project I have done so far, it was supposed to combine the knowledge of the world about double unders, but also my two years expierence. I believe you are involved in skipping rope and you have a high level of knowledge. I would like you to honestly and personally evaluate this audiobook. Then I would start working on project 2.0.
      I want to finish before the summer, I don't know exactly when. It will be on UA-cam, then I will send a link for you. For now, keep making good clips and teaching others! Best regards from Norway, - Wiktor S. Kelpie (17).

      @@dennorskeoffisiellehoppeta9243 great to hear about your progress and your passion for the audiobook project - sounds very cool. Evaluating the book sounds interesting; however, these next few months are going to be chaotically busy so I don't think there will be the free time for me to be able to do that.
      Glad the materials have helped you out in some way though, it's all about sharing knowledge! 🙏🏽

      thanks Konstadinos, it's always good to read your comment. Glad you enjoyed this video! More of these to come in 2021 😎
      The crossover is definitely a tricky one to learn because when you make a mistake, the rope is highly likely to whip the body. I've actually recently finished writing the section in the upcoming Rope Rage training handbook that looks at the crossover in detail, but there is more to it than being lazy. Timing is a big factor as well, and it really is important to get the hands fully across the body.
      The reason is that if we don't get the hands across fully (which is what we can do when tempted to take a shortcut), the rope doesn't give us enough space to jump through - and so the rope will hit the body.
      Will be going more into that, but I hope this helps out for now.
      All the best with your training 🚀

    Thanks for tips. I'm sure I read/saw somewhere that handle length is also a factor..i.e. longer handles allow more control?

    • @RopeRage
      @RopeRage  Рік тому

      good question. handle length doesn't necessarily allow more control, but it increases your room for error. Because the handles make a wider rope arc, the rope is less likely to hit you - hope that makes sense, lemme know how it goes 👍🏽

    • @RopeRage
      @RopeRage  4 роки тому +1

      yeah, I'm sure it would be. But try not to think about that sort of thing; we can't really control how long our arms grow! 😊

  • @teresafielm

    I can do double unders and lunges or squats jumping the rope but I can't do crossovers, I always get hit with the rope

    • @RopeRage
      @RopeRage  3 роки тому

      Yep, the crossovers present a slightly different challenge because those other techniques don't involve jumping through the rope while crossing it - important to take it step by step with this one, and I hope this video here helps you out with your training.
      There should actually be one or two other videos on crossovers as well, but it did take me a bit of patience when I was learning it!
