I’m a total stamper, I’m almost breaking the paving stone, jack hammer style! I love the idea of seeing the jump as a number if jumps in succession. When the rain goes I’m on that! Thank you
hah! and yes, breaking the jump down in that way has been a huge help in teaching sessions in the past, so I wanted to share that particular aspect here as well. It's great that you're eager to get working on it - let's go! 🚀
I guess I have watched almost all video clips about Double Unders from all the rope jumping coaches here on UA-cam... And I really tried to follow the advices given... And continued to fail... Yesterday I watched your video clip and the explanation given about ascending A and descending B dawned on me and I realised that I started to twist my wrist too late while already descending... To cut a long story short, I am not there yet but I managed 3 - 5 x Double Unders without tripping the first time today. Thank you very much.
Incredible to hear your experience, Juergen. This truly gave me a good feeling to read. Although I enjoy practicing this form of training, it is hard work! Sharing these videos sometimes takes a lot of effort, so messages like yours are appreciated more than you might think 🙏🏾 And yes, you're right: you may not be where you want to be yet, but it's important you've made that breakthrough. The good news is that it steadily gets easier from here. Just out of interest, how long have you been following along with this channel? Also, if you need any advice or even a second opinion with your training going forward, feel free to drop a message whenever-I'll help out where I can. Cheers, -Glen
Thanks Scan Imal, glad you found this one useful! Honestly, this particular video type here is different from some of the others on this channel because it's really going through personal experience of struggling with this technique. I try to break things down in a realistic way on this channel, rather than giving vague advice, and messages like yours let me know the extra effort is worth it 👍🏽 Getting back to uploading on UA-cam today after 6 months out, and I can't wait to getting back to sharing a bunch of great stuff. Hope you're going good and training has been progressing well 🚀 - Glen
So I am in Texas in my shop and it is 10 pm. Being I know how to do one double under I watched this video using the "think two" technique and it works. In less than 10 minutes just a few minutes ago I did 5 double unders. You are a great teacher. I've watched so many popular people explaining double unders without results.. Thanks!
Great to hear about that, Corey - that's EXACTLY why this vid was made. Hope you've been going from strength to strength since 💪🏽 Also, huge apologies for the delayed reply here - the past few weeks were crazy getting things together for our launch of the Rope Rage training handbook last weekend 🚀 Looking forward to getting back to more workout videos soon. Cheers, - Glen
much appreciated Jaybo! Yeah, the whole concept of this channel is to get people to look at rope training differently, make it more exciting and engaging to learn. It's still early days in this vision, but it's great to have you join us for the journey. If you've ever got any questions or even if you just want a second opinion on something, feel free to let me know-I'll help out where I can. Cheers, -Glen
@@RopeRage Thanks for the welcome. I've been jumping rope for just over a year. Originally learned from JRD and Rushie. Not looked at any vids for a while as I've been doing my own HIIT jump rope sessions. I've neglected learning new stuff and stuck with regular bounce and run in place.
Ah, cool. Yeah I imagine that 63 Footwork Drills video was useful then - plenty to keep you busy as you start trying out some new techniques! Patient practice is all you need. If you’ve been focused solely on the regular bounce and run in place for about a year then it means you’ve got that rhythm pretty solid, downside is it means you’ll have to be extra patient when learning certain new skills because you’ll have to break out of the patterns. Excited for your journey 👍🏽
Yep, I have caught myself trying to force the rotation of the second DU and missing it entirely. Conversely, I found too that my non-dominant hand (left) will slow down during the wrist flip. I think that is some janky sub-concious way to slow down the rotation. DUs can definitely be a mind vs. body battle. Good tips here Glen 👍
YES, that’s a pretty common mishap - hands not being on the same page with those rotations. One thing I did to try to get my hands working on the same page was swinging the rope in one hand, switching hands and getting a feel for the rhythm that way (it’s a habit that has now stuck, and you might see me swinging the rope in that way in a lot of combinations I do. Another thing that helped me was nunchucks training. Great that you’ve been able to spot that because it’s a subtle fault that many people miss. I think self-assessment of your training really is the difference maker for progress 👍🏽 Thanks, Terry -Glen
Much appreciated, Rickk - and apologies for the delayed response here! Recently took some time away from videos production to focus on some things; but back to video uploads from tonight! And there's a ton more coming VERY soon 😎 Hope you've been getting on well, - Glen
@@RopeRage cool bro don't worry! I know how tough it's to take some time to answer comments! You're awesome and humble and a great guy +and awesome jump rope ninja! Big love man! Good vibes!
Thank You , Thank You Man.🙏🏻 Was struggling from the previous three months at Double Unders, every other video talked about technique which I was Correct at. After watching the Mentality part of your video I just gave a try and exactly after five minutes, it was done. My First Double Under 🙌🏻❤️😌
It's great to hear this Purusharth! Yes, you are right-the mentality part of training is something that many people don't look at, but it really is the most important. You might be excited to hear that I'm putting a lot of this kind of mentality and technical information in a Rope Rage training handbook that will be released soon - I can't wait to share it! 😎 How has your training been going recently? I hope you have been progressing more and more, Cheers, -Glen
no problem Gerard, great to hear that! Yeah, these really are the main sticking points I had and I've seen in people I've taught, so I'm glad they've been helpful here. Keep at it, keep progressing 🚀 Cheers, -Glen
Great stuff Richard, good to hear. These messages make the long editing process worth it 😅 Feel free to shoot a message if there are any questions/requests you've got; I'll do what I can to help out 👍
no problem marc, great to hear this video helped out! How are the double unders coming along now? (P.S. Apologies for the delayed response here; very hectic times with new projects here lately) Cheers, Glen
I need to relax my wrists more and stop "snatching", as you call it. You did a great job breaking everything down. The graphic with the 50% to 100% was also really helpful.
Much appreciated, Brandon. Yeah the snatching is such a pain in the neck 😄 as I've said before, relaxing and just settling into a flow is a huge key to progressing with jump rope training. You'd be surprised! Even though it's important to relax, it's also important to be mindful of what we're doing. I thought adding the graphic about jump timing would shed a little light there. Thanks again for such a cool comment; feel free to let me know how you get on with your training 💪🏾
I decided to finally tackle DU last week. I hesitated to start thinking it would be very difficult and concentrated on lots of other moves. Im glad I did because DUs are coming to me very fast and you vid will make it even easier! Thanks!
thanks Nimeu, yeah jumping rope is a hugely effective form of training for weight loss. So, my diet is mainly intermittent fasting (I say mainly because it was much stricter last year, but I've cooled down on it a little in recent years). So I eat from about 12/2 p.m. to 8/10 p.m. each day-last year I was very strict and only eating in a six-hour window. This helped me get in really good shape as a method of calorie restriction. But actual food-wise, I cut out bread when I want to lose body fat. That's a MAJOR one for me. Maybe even pasta as well, but I started eating less meat as past years as well, and LOTS OF FRUIT. I'm not a nutritionist, so can't give expert advice and only go by what I have researched and found works for me. Coming up to summer now, I'll be cutting body fat a bit more and hopefully it will be evident in the videos! 😀 Hope that helps, let me know how it goes. Cheers, -Glen
@@RopeRage Thank you for the quick answer. I'll definitely give intermittent fasting a try, I've heard so many good things about it. Bread and pasta are my biggest weakness. From that I get too many calories. 🙄
Thanks for another great video I have been trying to snatch those reps all this time 😁😂 And the 'J' in my name has 'J for Joker' kinda tone not a 'H' sound😀 Love from India
Half the battle with jump roping is getting into that mental zone. Sometimes it 'clicks' and you can do tricks and a ton of reps without issue, other times you feel like you cant make any progress as youre constantly screwing it up, even if youre not actually tired or sore. Its like a sport more than just a physical exercise. Like in baseball you can be the strongest player, but if you cant time when to swing your bat, its meaningless. No amount of leg strength and endurance will help you jump rope if you cant mentally keep the pace of when to jump and how fast to swing the rope.
that's right - it has a huge mental aspect. One thing you realise, though, is that if you do it enough, you don't have to think as much. It's a transition from conscious competence to unconscious competence 🧠⚡️
