This is definitely a job that you can do in the driveway provided you watch the full length video and take the necessary safety precautions. It's definitely not a hard job and of course will save you some money if you do it yourself. Thanks. Gotta change my fluid. I'm starting to get delay acceleration in the morning.

      Hey my friend just be careful it may be a sign that your transmission might be on the way out and changing the fluid May help with that. Good luck hopefully you don't need a transmission.

    Nice video! Do we have to clean the oil pan and replace the filter when we change the oil?

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  6 місяців тому

      Hey my friend, unless you have the pan removed you don't need to clean the inside or change the filter. Now if the fluid is extremely dirty and the transmission is still functioning normally it may be a good idea to remove the pan to clean it however it is not absolutely necessary.

    How do you cycle through the gears while idle?

    Hi I was looking to do this to my Mazda 3 since I put the wrong transmission fluid … so I hope this helps or maybe my transmission control module has to be replaced 🤷🏼‍♀️

      If you put the wrong fluid in you might need the transmission, the control module unless you have code usually doesn't give any issues unless you have an intermittent issue where you would still get some sort of code registering on your computer. I would have it scanned to see if there are any pending codes and definitely replace it with the dealer fluid, the cost is relatively cheap and it takes the whole guesswork out of getting the right fluid.

    I recently changed the tranny fluid on my 2008 NY Forester. Just took it to the mechanic for a NYS Inspection and was told the tranny pan should be replaced due to rust. Unfortunately, I didn’t look around the pan, it looked good around the drain plug area.
    - if I change the pan, should I reuse the new fluid or bite the bullet and change the fluid again? Thanks

      I would definitely just replace it with new fluid. I would also try to use the fluid as much as possible so that it doesn't its job cleaning out the transmission and mixing in with the dirty fluid that way when you drain it you will get more crap out of there and make more room for nice new fluid.

    Speaking of filling fluid - Power Steering.
    The Power Steering vessel states the cold fill level - what if it’s overfilled, but not filled to the top? Any issue? Thanks.

      Won't cause any issues. If it is overfilled eventually it will start to push fluid out of the top of the reservoir you can also use a turkey baster to suck out some of the fluid if it is too much or a vacuum pump with reservoir.

    In case we're wanting why it sounds like that??? You did a oil change?? Did you put oil back in

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  5 місяців тому

      Yes. It takes a little bit of time for the oil to reach the lifters after draining it.

    What about the transmission filter replacement?

    • @alexvillalobos7137
      @alexvillalobos7137 3 місяці тому +2

      Remove the transmission pan and replace the gasket and filter. A lot of 10mm bolts and probably 2-4 bolts to remove the filter. It’s pretty simple and doing so you can also clean all the sludge on the pan

      If your car has been neglected in the filter has never been changed or fluid then it is a good idea to go ahead and do that. However this was a lower mileage vehicle and the customer didn't want to replace the filter just a fluid. It is completely fine to just replace the fluid and not in the filter provided that the fluid is done in a timely manner.

    Too often fluid changes, other than the engine oil, are neglected.
