As an amateur watching this video in anticipation of doing some of this myself I have to ask the question if the car had been in a bad enough wreck to have bent the hub which had caused some issues...maybe this is a good time to fire the parts cannon? As a DIY I would just replace the damn ball joint anyway. While you are in there you may as well replace the stuff that is due to be replaced anyway on a 20 plus year old car. In other words fuck that ball joint comment at 4:15 in the vid

Switch to amsoil cvt fluid. Much smoother and Transmission will run 10-15 degrees cooler

went to car dealer ship for oil change they end up taking my trans plug out causing fluid to leak out they said they filled it back up car was ok just riding 10 miles but when i drove it for 4 hrs the dash lit up with warning AT TEMPHOT CHECK ENGINE several others now the dealer ship said they didn't cause the problem. I am lost on what to do

This is why I take the hub assembly to the machine shop and have them press out the old bearings and put new ones in for $50. 😆

Jimmy, you're a goddamned savior! My Forester took a crap and wouldn't shift in gear. I assumed my clutch finally went out, so I got to researching and found this gem of a video. I ordered a new clutch and clutch fork ('cause why not), added at least 100 views to this video, and then started tearing the 'ol Subie down. Thankfully I don't live in the rust belt so everything came off perfectly and easily and the clutch looked fine but the fork was exactly like yours. I got everything back together and the Subie is running better than ever! You saved me a couple thousand dollars and a ton of time by recommending buying the fork. I cannot thank you enough and would also love to buy you a case of beer!
