Good to see you back to knitting, Kathy! Your blues and purples always make me smile. Love that you got side tracked from organizing your yarn by a new cast on😁. I take that as proof that having stash is a source of inspiration!
What a relief that you can knit again. I'm sure you will be very careful going forward. I had to smile at your yarn colour choices in your cabinet. Blue, Purple, Green. All the colours I love. The teal in your older sweater is wonderful. I heard Carson in an interview and it prompted me to finally buy chiaogoo needles and they definitely cause less strain on my hands.
I'm so glad (too) that you are able to knit again. (Whew)! Thank you for podcasting and sharing your knits. You mentioned that you have a lot of yarn and don't feel that all of it will be knit. I will mention that you could use that yarn to hook with like coasters, little rugs, little chair pads, etc. You could hold it double or triple if it is thin....of course donating and giving to friends as you mentioned is very good too. I don't know if hooking with it would be easier on your hands/shoulders, etc but it would be different than knitting. A long time ago I hooked with fine strips of wool....hadn't given yarn a thought until someone mentioned it on a podcast and unfortunately, I do not remember who that was. I have not checked out Norwegian purling yet but it is on my list. I look forward to your future podcasts and hope you have a healthy 2023. 🧶
I was relieved for your sake to hear you're allowed to grab the knitting needles again - nothing worse than that ban. I wS so tempted by that colour of Nutiden when I saw it, truly glorious. Thanks Kathy, looking forward to your next episode.
I'm so glad you are back on your knitting journey. I can definitely relate to being more intentional in my acquisitions. For me, as I age, I am getting much better with the "want vs. need". We all have those "what was I thinking?" yarns.
Happy to see you back and knitting. Hope you find the knitting style that suits you best and that you take things easy. I imagine the temptation to overdo things would be enormous.
I don't know how I missed this episode until today! So happy you're back to knitting. I know I should take a break to heal the wrist pain I've been experiencing. I believe mine occurred with the gift knitting I did for Christmas. I knit the 6 stuffed animals for my grandchildren out of that same Scheepjes yarn you are knitting the Flax with. I thought maybe it was the cotton content that caused my wrist strain, so be careful....but who knows, really. I'll have to watch the second half of your episode later today, but just had to comment how nice it is to see you back 😊
Thanks for your kind words, Sandra! I saw those animals you made on Instagram, and wow! What an accomplishment. I hope they were well received! I am almost finished with the sweater and have to say that although I love the colors I'm not enjoying the process of knitting with this yarn and will be really glad to return to wool, alpaca and mohair. And I found so many knots in the skeins. 🤨
i'm so happy for you that you're back knitting again. your idea for the vest is great - thanks for the idea. happy new year to you, and i hope it's a happy, healthy one for us all 🤞🏼!
Glad you are back and feeling better. I'm struggling with knitting right now because I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand. I would love to knit the Pressed Flowers cardigan. I am working through my stash too!
Your wool pantry looks lovely. I have knitting supply shelves (cubicles on the wall). My shelves have neatly organized cone yarn (mostly Holst Garn SuperSoft) that I enjoy looking at it as well as using them for colorwork garments ❤. Although I do not like clutter or abundance, I like having knitting supplies visible and tidy so I can be inspired to be creative. I hope you wool pantry becomes the size that makes you happy and inspired
Life is too short for yarn you don't love anymore :) I purchased a LOT of cheap, ugly yarns when I was a baby knitter. I tend to acquire and acquire and acquire when I start a new hobby. Did it with cross-stitch, did it with button-making, did it with knitting. I'm currently doing what Kate at @hawthorncottagecraft calls Lucky Dip. I pull random yarn out of my stash, look up a project, and knit it. And then I either gift it to someone, or I sell it on my etsy shop. Or I give it to charity. Some of the yarns have been going to charity as well.

Wendy, I really need something blue going very soon!

Thank you! I'm practicing gentler techniques and they're getting easier.
Glad to see you back.

Thank you! It feels good to be knitting again.
@@northwestknitting5993 I’m really happy to hear that! I was badly injured when I was 30 and stopped knitting until I was 50. It was not fun😢

Thanks so much, Teresa!

Yes! That's the goal: to have enough yarn to inspire.

Kate's idea is a great way to make some headway with those single skeins especially.
@@northwestknitting5993 She's going to be running a Lucky Dip KAL all year - you should check it out! :)
