Oh I'm so excited to have come across your channel! Got even more excited hearing you're australian and love I'm not the only one with heaps of BWM yarn haha! Will binge watch your videos now!
Your joy in your accomplishments brought a smile to my face, thank you. Some thoughts on the issues you raised. 1. machine washable yarn will always pill, because the process to make it machine washable removes the protective scales on the hairs making them more vulnerable to friction. Removing the scales also makes the yarn more inclined to 'grow' with wear and wash, so I often make a size smaller to begin with. The machine washability does wear off too, so eventually garments will felt unless you switch to hand washing when they start to feel a little more coarse or stiff. 2. Rather than reducing the number of stitches to cinch in your waist, you can drop down 2 needle sizes - gives the same shaping without the hassles of reducing then increasing. 3. If you think a neckline is going to stretch out with wear, or when you notice it is starting to, chain crochet along the inside of the row where the rib meets the body - it limits the amount the stitches can widen by. If you are into felting, you can needle felt the inside of that same row/join to get the same benefit. I look forward to seeing more of your knit adventures.
Hi Beth, thank you for your kind words. I’m trying to think which sweater you are talking about - maybe my very first one? I’ve learnt so much more since that sweater I knit maybe 15 plus years ago. I find some machine washable yarns don’t pill at all so I tend to stick with that brand. I’ve only had to shave a sweater once in the 4 years I’ve worn it, so that was good! I will keep your ideas in mind for felting. Thank you!
Your Jupiter Crop looks great! I also did this pattern and I like it sooooo much. I'm sitting here in Vienna, Austria knitting "Braids of Grass", I wish you a very happy and "busy" New Year.
Thanks for your “sweater catwalk” Wonderful to see them on a body. I love Caitlin Hunters designs. Find it hard to find my right size though. I have a finished Nordiska, I like looking at, but not wearing😢
I hear you on sizing and fit with some patterns. I’m not sure what the appeal is with the long and low armpits with some of these designs. They are very wearable. I’m finding myself adjusting the patterns too often. I have the Nordiska pattern awaiting me and I think I’ll split for sleeve much earlier, but I’m sure there will be a lot of trial and error.
loved your sweater video! We appear to be the same size, so your try-on's gave me a good idea of how the sweaters would look on my body. Thank you! All your sweaters were beautiful!
Thank you! That’s so good that you’ve seen them on someone around the same size as you. It can be hard when there’s not a lot of bigger sized people out there showing what knits look like on them, so I’m glad to be showing off mine. ❤️
If you do another buds and branches, I would do a provisional cast on for the neck and then you can pick those stitches up and knit up, decreasing to cinch in the neckline. Beautiful journey into your hand knit sweaters! I’m a fellow lover of Caitlin Hunter patterns. 🧡
Oh thank you! That is great advice! I’m going to do that and now I want to cast it on straight away. Ha ha! Aren’t Caitlin Hunters patterns just lovely. Thank you! 🌸
Another lovely video :) I have an idea re the first jumper you made....how about making some mittens for winter from it!?! It's already felted should be easy just to cut mittens out of it!! I LOVE the Branches & Buds jumper, to be honest I love all your makes but my faves are Branches & Buds and the Sipila jumper, just love the colours!!!! Have a lovelyweek!! Samantha xx
Love your pile… i knitted nordiska from boyland.. its so pretty in the pattern, but Way to low under the armpits for me and my size.. and a bit to snug in the v-neck.. so its a showpiece ☺️
Thank you! I don’t really get the low armpit style. There are a few patterns I want to knit that have low armpits and I’m going to split for the sleeves earlier to avoid low pits. 😉
I love all of your sweater choices!! I have knitted the Tegna….alas in a size too small for me and had to rip it out….I have started it again and have completed the lace and the body up to the armholes and there she sits. Your colour choices are lovely too! Thank you for sharing. I’m so happy to have discovered your podcast this morning. I have subscribed and hit the notifications. All the best, Jackie from a small village near Ottawa Canada

I think the word you are looking for is “cinch.” Great to find an Aussie podcaster, loved it!
Thank you!
Enjoyed seeing your sweaters, so lovely.
Maybe you could make a cushion out of your first sweater that has felted?
Thank you for watching! That’s a great idea to make a cushion cover with my first sweater, thank you.

Love all your sweaters! I have been knitting for a long time but haven't made a sweater for myself yet. After seeing yours I really need to make one .
Thank you! Yes, you do need to make one for yourself! Enjoy your knitting 🌸
