Man us new inventors are under stress, it's really nice to see all these serene cut away shots of your travels. It really helped me relax a little while I learn.
Jeez, the intro to this video confused the heck out of me. Luckily I made it to 1:48. I thought there was something wrong with youtube, showing one title but displaying another video. Glad to see UA-cam wasn't scrambled.
Absolutely best advice. Pay attention very closely. Companies WILL exploit your ignorance. They will write the entire contract to their maximum advantage and your maximum disadvantage. If you have a winning idea that you have invested a lot of time or money, spend the extra by contacting InventRight before signing anything. It's something I wish I had done. It could save you literally millions.
Wow! This video was really pleasant to watch. I came for the valuable information and was just blown away by the intermittent cultural shots and incredible backgrounds.
Great video, Stephen! I learned a lot. Thank you! ....... Stephen do you have a video on how to hand hold or guide a good manufacturer to licensing if they have never done it before? I know you don't advise the inventor to do the licensing ( good advice! ) and a seasoned manufacturer is probably the best route but what if you comes across a good manufacturer that happens to be a group of good people but they are just green. Also, once I get my sell sheet to the manufacturer how long do you recommend before I fallow up with them? Thanks! ....... That floating island was really cool!
That was a awesome take on your travels.. Janice and you are great together. I remember our 5th grade teacher telling us about Lake Titicaca and just the word made the class giggle a little. That was my first encounter that I wanted to learn an travel outside of my surroundings.. As for the new book can't wait... Jan needs to start a travel channel ~~
Thank you Steven for sharing you life time wisdom You are both beautiful .And thus lake I heard is a very special place - hope you have got it' s good vibes .Best wishes from New Zealand !
It all depends. Companies that work with inventors all the time it could be very quick,a couple weeks. Companies that aren’t familiar or don’t do very many licensing agreements could take a couple months.
Hello Gilbert, Thank you so much for commenting and watching. There’s no such thing as a fair licensing agreement. What’s fair to one person may not be fair to another. There’s no such thing as a boiler plate licensing agreement. Everything is negotiable. There’s literally thousands of licensing agreements on the Internet. But I would never use one as a template. My best advice is to work with the licensing attorney. -Stephen
Typically it’s on the net. You have to be careful how this is defined. People make a mistake all the time when negotiating a licensing agreement. Years ago someone reached out to us after signing a $10 million deal. I asked him why are you signing up. I said you don’t need us. He said yes I do. I made one of the biggest mistakes I did it myself. I left $5 million on the table. I don’t understand sub licensing. This is one area you do not want to do it yourself. -Stephen
If we can help you in anyway, please let us know. This is a wonderful industry. It has changed my life. It’s incredible to see something you have made and people sharing it. For more free information. Please visit our site.InventRight.com
Can I ask if I license something to a company in a different state than my LLC will I need to have another LLC in the state that they are operating in? I was listening to a past podcast and I think I misunderstood.
Thank you for sharing the importance on licensing agreements. I appreciate the beautiful sceneries in Titicaca, Peru. Amazingly beautiful. Stay safe. Maggie
I love how some of your subtitles are: (energetic spanish guitar music) when in fact it is: (energetic piano music).

When negotiating a percentage with a potential client, are we referring to a net percentage or gross or is it something else?

How is the negotiating book coming along?
It’s done. Just waiting for a big announcement on a project I’m working on.
Is this something you help with and make sure when your students get a licensing agreement?
