This is a guy who loves every aspect of the drum kit.
He uses literally anything he wants, infinite possibilities
"This is a ride...but I use it as a crash".. Because he is Thomas Lang. that is why.

This cat would've taken Dream Theater to a whole new level.....For a lot of people, Mike Portnoy, Mike Mangini and Thomas Lang have all reached greatest drummer alive status in their own way.....to each his own of course, but I would've really loved to hear the power and groove Thomas plays with applied to Dream Theater's stuff.
His personality would of clashed with them!

This guy really puts brains in his kit every piece of the drum set has a reason to be there, is not an ego thing, it has to be really fun to play it

1st off, I've been a Zildjian player since the early 80's. I just love them. But after hearing Thomas' Meinl cymbals, I'm really giving serious thoughts about buying a full Meinl cymbal set up for my kit. Gorgeous sounding cymbals! That ride is just killer sounding. Love the dark / dry hi hats. I even picked up a tip from this video. My primary ride is a 22" K Custom ride. My secondary ride is a 20" A Medium ride. My third ride, which I rarely use because it's so "washy' is a 20" A Custom Ride. I now use that as a crash. Thanks for the tip, Thomas!

LOVE that 18 inch classics custom china over the 19 inch generation x china crash. That stacks got a lotta balls to it. I have to buy those cymbals and make that stack now.

They're his signature sticks. Vic Firth Signature Thomas Lang (STL). Beast sticks.

I more prefer this setup gear 2015 than 2018 setup,
