she's a grumpy old girl , love your videos buddy :) keep up the good work, how many times the wasps stung you? if I had power at the landfill I could sure kill alot of them lol they're thick out there bad
Great videos, Looks much like the compactors I saw @ the old Lancaster NY landfill we dumped at. Loved watching these old beasts beat down the waste we hauled in.
up here in Canada when I worked in the woods we had a 60s cat d8h we used to push brush with and sometimes after -20 we'd have to light a small log fire under the block to get her going!
Matts Madness I hate when people constantly crank till it starts. They don't understand the concept of not cooking the starter, wiring, and running the battery down. I have started many cold engines just by short cranks, and using the glow plug systems on diesels if they work, and maybe a short burst of start fluid, but never much.
the glow plugs work not too bad on this one and it gets hooked on starting fluid and ether locks real bad so I never use the stuff on anything unless its for cleaning parts lol
7 років тому+1
Yeah. Start fluid is not recommended, but a quick burst can help. I had a smaller tractor engine lock for a bit because it had higher compression, but it did start cranking again, and started. It was a 3 cyl diesel. Using too much fluid washes the cylinder walls and bearings down, so shouldn't over use it, like some people do.
Little trick..... just as the RPM's are starting to really rise, pull the fuel cut off for a half second or so then push it in again. It'll settle right into a steady idle.
lol doesn't matter it runs off its own oil for a few seconds if the fuel is on or off thats not me flooring it thats just revving up on its own unburnt oil
yeah treehugger prius drivers and people that think I'm being hard on it people thinking I'm dumb all that good shit, what nobody gets is I still operate this pile of shit everyday and its fine
"...old video I found from a while back figured it might get some views..." Well, I'd say it certainly did get just a few???☺ I guess we all just love to punish ourselves, to get that satisfied feeling of the start, esp. under those less than ideal conditions! But, admittedly, I'd sure miss just about ANYTHING that even resembled a heater, in that weather! And, y' can't beat those "Flat Free Tires", for dependability, "in the rough"! Although I'd bet they are a literal pain in the ass on frozen ground, not to mention a pain in the head during spring thaw, when it's "Mud Season".....! ☺

Excellent, love the sounds and how the cold engine slowly comes awake.

well I think your winning lol that thing makes a good healthy snap when it pops them
Love that type of weather
After a days work
Some hot food and a cozy fire
Yeah makes you enjoy and appreciate your home that much more.
I love it when you can hear an engine picking up cylinders one by one.
Now THAT was a cold start!
Brings back old memories, worked landfills for 19 years, loved it.

this one is covered in about an inch of grease and insulation dust lol it would warm up very fast
Matts Madness sound like it needs a hot water pressure washer bath lol
every other week to do it right but that costs money and time we dont have
Matts Madness not even once a year?
if something breaks or it starts running hot we wash it out lol
When its that cold Cat recommended holding glows plugs on for two minutes then start and return to glow plugs till it runs evenly.
lol yeah and the wires get so hot they start to melt , this pile is old used and abused
The glow plugs must be shorted out then.
mice ate most of all of the wiring
Oh ok gotch ya.
Here I am again, watching diesels come alive lmao
The ol Cat's are tough. I remember the old 3304's. Hard starting out in the frigid temps, but very reliable.
yeah she don't like the cold thats for sure
Matts Madness Lol!

Better check the air pressure in that rear tire. Looks low. Must be from the cold temps.
lmfao
Sweet an old caterpillar with a turbo.
Still run better then my '09 Ford Escape V6...
lol

Awesome video. Would love to see some stuff getting crushed under the compactor!

and yeah I know this was a 3 year old comment lol
Why did I find this so therapeutic lol
Kind of reminds me of me in the morning, take ages to get going and some backfiring but ok once up and running.
Just curious shouldn't you not start it and hold ecelorator while it's still cold shouldn't you try keep the revs low since its cold??
buddy you let off and it will die and thats it no runnin that day
Any heater in that to keep cab warm
nope
sounds like popcorn being made
Awesome cold start
Made my day
It's a curiosity to me why someone would down vote this video. Tree-hugger types?
yeah treehugger prius drivers and people that think I'm being hard on it people thinking I'm dumb all that good shit, what nobody gets is I still operate this pile of shit everyday and its fine

Is the turbo exposed at the top near the air intake? Or is the piping just playing tricks on my eyes?
