I agree that Susan knew the two boys otherwise she would not have let them in the house, so must have trusted them. The description that the man gave is very convincing that he could be responsible. Such a shame that the police dismissed it.
Hi Chris and Vicky. Your Channel is my most favourite of all. With lesser known murders and mysteries and in beautiful locations you have it all !!!! 👍👍
Hi Janet, we noticed on the old OS maps that Holme Mill was owned by Entwistle, which does tie up nicely with where we think number 24 was and the home of Susan. We know there was a communal back yard (as the map shows on the video) and that her cottage was directly opposite Entwistles Mill (as the newspapers called it) . Its amazing how so much has changed in that area of Accrington and everytime we drive along that road (Hyndburn Road) I always say to my wife; "this happened here" or "that happened there".
Great story .. I grew up living on hyndburn road in the 70s and people talked about that murder then …. Sad ending for poor Susan . There used to be an old small cemetery on hyndburn road too ? Anyone remember that .
Hello there, just came across your channel last night and I'm really enjoying the content, horror stories were never my thing but the way you come across is compassionate, especially to the victims, I'm hooked 😊
Hi Cheryl, many thanks for the kind comments and coming on board to our little community. We try our best, sometimes we may get things wrong but we do try and research as much as we can form each story. We also do random videos such as abandoned places and the paranormal, but we mainly cover stories of the darker side of life, especially backing the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Such a sad story indeed 😥 to murder an elderly lady who was so good to the community is so disgusting to say the least, and equally sad that the perpetrator or perpetrators where never found, so whoever did this awful crime got away with it. Very interesting thanks for sharing once again. 👍👍
Hypothesis: she feared being killed because she was engaged in a dangerous business. The two "boys" weren't boys, but women. Susan was assisting them in fleeing domestic violence. She gave them aid that night in fleeing the area or even the country. And she was beaten to death by the man or men they were fleeing. I'd like to believe that she died refusing to tell where the women had gone, and that they escaped and lived full lives blissfully unaware of the price paid for that happiness.
I have done nothing today, apart from walk my dog a couple of times. I've sat on the sofa binge watching your videos. I've not done any cleaning or cooking. 😂
Me and my husband love all your videos we have only just found you as I was searching for jannet preston as am reading a book on Lancashire witch craze thank you for all your content it's so interesting
Hi Mandy, thanks for joing our little 'ol community and for the kind words. We still have loads more places to visit and retell the stories in the. Next year is already looking exciting for the channel, with some stories coming from outer countries we are visiting 😮 and we also have plenty of events now booked and paid for, so keep an eye out for those.
I really enjoyed watching your new video tonight why would someone do that to an old lady😢😢 I hope you do more videos like this keep up with the good work guys x ❤❤
Great video! Interesting that she was related to a Jackson and the man at the infirmary used Jackson as a surname at times. I know it's a common surname, but it does make me wonder if there was some sort of connection.
I enjoyed the video again thanks. It's such a shame that the murderer/s were never convicted of this awful crime. I'd like to think that these days with CCTV, advanced forensic work and the advent of DNA analysis that the perpetrators would have been caught fairly quickly. It sounds like the police inquiry wasn't the best but then again they had only limited means to work with back then.
I don't think the two boys were guilty of the death of Susan, though it is highly likely that the other man who was an inmate in the workhouse was the culprit. It is just too much of a coincidence that he mentioned that he killed an old lady with a blunt instrument. There surely would have been blood splattered on their clothes too.
If the two boys were innocent as may well be, in those days, i don't think i would have gone to the police as life behind bars or a hanging, for being in the wrong place at wrong time would be a worry.
I really enjoyed this one you worked hard on this thank you a very sad tale though that poor woman was at the latter end of her life as it was. I think it was the man who did this he knew too much although he could have heard about it 🤔. It's a horrible wicked thing to do to an old woman. Thank you Chris well done 👏👏👏
Many thanks! Im torn on either the two boys doing it or the guy from Newcastle. Both seem plausible suspects. The lads though, they may well have gone to Susan's house to either borrow or repay money they had borrowed, as from what we have read, she very rarely, if ever, let people inside late evenings. So I think she knew them well enough to trust them 🤔
I loved this vlog. It was so interesting. Thank you to u and Vicky for your hard work and making these great vlogs. I don't think the boys did it. I think someone else murdered Susan.
It's an interesting case this one. Like a few have already said, it seems Susan may well have known the boys as she had let them into her home at a later than normal time of day for her. Normally her door would be bolted shut. But it's a frustrating one as I highly doubt it will ever get solved. Also, thanks for the kind comment at the start, we do appreciate people's kindness when it comes to the videos and stories we cover.
well done and you found susan final resting place we done vicki and chris very interesting and all the info you found out for us on the damp day all the best from trev and chris down here xx
i feel for her i grew up in the late 70s with an old lady as a nabour ,we had a gate between both gdns and she used to invite me in and gave me homa mase apple pie.she had lived there from the 1920s and her hse was the same as when she had bought it fond memmories.
If I remember rightly, it was absolutely lashing it down when we first set off. So we ended up in Burnley Cemetery and sat around in the car until it eased off a little. We just didn't want to drive into Accrington, where there is no shelter such as trees, only to get more wet.
I think it was the man who confessed in the workhouses. Why would he have known so many details and told the same story twice? I think he had a guilty conscience.
Great video, just screened a new documentary about Suzy Lamplugh and murderer John Cannan, the cold case detective said that he may have killed up to 16 women between 1978 to 1987, all over the South of England and in London, a very strange case.
@@DaysofHorror yes, the first case i ever saw , that was : real crime ( 2002 ). It was a serial killer using dating agencies, but was already a killer before Suzy...
24 seconds in and I’m thinking I wonder if she is related to the westwll’s I know that live in Accrington. When you know the area it’s funny how it makes it seem so real. I’m also related to an Elizabeth Buckley!

Loved this video, I live in Accrington and used to work at Ewbank which was the old Entwistle and Kenyon factory.

A great video. Love listening to the storytelling of the local history of the place and the people.❤
Thanks for the kind words. We do try our best and sometimes we get things wrong 😅 But we just love exploring and digging up stories long forgotten.

Cheers Donna. The saddest part is that Susan kind-of predicted her own death and often talked about being attacked in her own home.

Someone needs to do a bit of metal detection around there.. People used to bury money near big trees back int'day
Good point raised. Thanks for watching 😊
Yes I think she definitely knew the killers. Very well presented.
Many thanks Ste 👍
What about the murder weapon.
Unfortunately, there was nothing recorded on this in the newspapers at the time.
