i mean i suppose the argument is that how could someone know that they're there alone (because there was a babysitting business that they could've easily used) with the door unlocked unless they were keeping tabs on them??
I dont think these stories are really "that serious". The last two Episodes they were just talking about a Netflix Documentary. I rate this at a 3/10 Content wise, i could sit in a Barber Shop and be annoyed by two people who have this conversation.
If your child was missing, you would search the streets morning, noon and night. The next day Kate went for a run, and Gerry played tennis. Unbelievable.
Think that through LOGICALLY Mary. The McCanns are not short of money. So yes! They COULD have employed a babysitter from DAY ONE. So why didn't they???? Because a babysitter would have seen that there were only 2 babies. Madeleine was already missing. FROM DAY ONE. Now what do all of us do when we go on holiday????? We take photos. Especially of the kids. Yet none were taken after DAY ONE. The photos that were EVENTUALLY handed over to the Portuguese police were fake. Doctored images. The tennis ball photo is not even Madeleine. It is a different girl, photoshopped by adding a hat. The camera settings had been tampered with. Because Madeleine was already dead.
@@djcherchezlafemmeindeed. Personally I've entertained the idea that the night they raised the alarm could have been orchestrated to some degree. Certainly I think the supposed check rota they devised may exaggerate how frequent the checks were and there is reason to think that the times are hastily manipulated to engineer a timeslot for the abduction
They were allegedly swingers and the people they were with.If Maddy had an accident and died and it was the McCanns fault, a whole can of worms would be opened that included very high profile people...My theory is they got rid of her body. They didn't bury her, they hid her then disposed of the body probably at sea..
I watched an interview with Gerry McCann where they asked him why the cadaver dogs had signalled a dead body - Gerry said "i don't know, why don't you ask them" which to me is a very flippant & concerning answer considering his daughter is missing
Jamie B If we asume that the dog was picking up on a dead Madelaine... Cadaverine starts forming about 90 minutes to two hours after death. So. For the dog to detect the smell behind the sofa means that Madelaine was there for several hours or was put there briefly, hours after she died. The blood behind the sofa was apparently spatter, not a smear. Which indicates that Madelaine fell behind the sofa. The blood also seeped under the tile, which indicates that it was very fresh, because blood starts clotting very quickly. Behind the sofa was the window. Madelaine was hyper active. It is therefore likely that she climbed from the sofa to the window and fell between.
The Portuguese police actually wasn't incompetent. They suspected the parents from the very beginning and the parents knew this, which is why they refused to cooperate with the investigation. This made the Portuguese police look incompetent and foolish. Also, Scotland Yard didn't even want to pursue any avenue other than the "abduction" one. Read the book "A Verdade da Mentira" by Gonçalo Amaral, the lead investigator in this case. I think it's available in English.
I'm not going to comment about the documentary or the case, sorry, but I do want to say that by and in itself this podcast was superb. The eloquence and the playing devil's advocate by both of you made this one to be an instant favourite, very enjoyable all around. It's my third time watching it, I'm officially obsessed.
Kate said that when she checked the room the door was open then slammed shut. She then said she opened it and saw the curtains blown into the room due to a gust of wind. Yet the crime scene photos show the curtains tucked tightly behind a bed and wicker chair. You don’t tidy the curtains when you discover your kid missing
Kate McCann thought immediately Maddie had been taken , but then ran to the bar leaving the other two babies totally alone ? She knew damn well there was no abductor
Also she came out out and said "she is gone" she is clearly referring to maddie. If she was clearly shocked that maddie was gone she would have said maddie was gone
I think the first fear response would be that she could have woken up and wandered outside. Kate should have been worried she could have fallen in the pool, wandered into traffic, the ocean etc. Kate already had a narrative, and only one narrative strait away.
- The McCanns left the little children alone even though there was a babysitting service available and Madeleine had previously cried and asked them where they had been. - There was no evidence of a break in or abduction. - Kate and Gerry admitted they did not search for Madeleine when she went missing. - Kate's reaction to not finding Madeleine in the apartment was to shout "they've taken her". - They changed their accounts of what happened on the evening Madeleine went missing. - They initially said the shutters had been jemmied open, broken and raised, the window open. Later, with no evidence of a break in or damage to or tampering with shutters or window, they said they must have left the patio door unlocked. - Kate refused to answer 48 police questions, even though Gerry McCann told interviewer Jeremy Paxman, who mentioned the "media circus", that any parents would try to get as much info as possible into an investigation to find their missing child. - The one police question Kate did answer was to acknowledge she understood that her failure to answer questions might jeopardise the investigation. - Kate and Gerry refused to take part in a Portuguese police reconstruction. - Gerry refused to comment when asked if he knew fellow suspect Robert Murat - Former doctor friends the Gaspars contacted Leicestershire police to express concerns that David Payne had jokingly made sexual comments and gestures about Madeleine to Gerry. Leicestershire police failed to pass the statements on to the Portuguese for 6 months- after lead detective Amaral, convinced of the McCanns' guilt, had been taken off the case. - They lost their libel case against Amaral, over his book The Truth of the Lie, and his assertions of his belief in their guilt, based on various evidence. - 2 reliable British-trained dogs, with expert handler, alerted to blood and cadaver scent in the McCanns' apartment, possessions, clothes and hire car. - Kate explained the cadaver scent on her clothes as due to her work as a doctor. - The McCanns left the hire car doors and boot open, explained that the dog's cadaver scent marking was due to the smell of rotting meat in the boot, also to dirty nappies. - When asked much later which possible sightings of Madeleine had interested them, Gerry could not think of any and Kate finally mentioned one in Amsterdam. - They then redirected the issue back to Jane Tanner's supposed and convenient sighting of a possible abductor on the evening of Madeleine's disappearance. - When on another occasion they were asked about their emotions when a possible sighting was mentioned, Gerry smirked. - Gerry was filmed laughing on a balcony a few days after Madeleine disappeared. - In various interviews Kate and Gerry showed a lot of concern over being believed, their own reputations, reinforcing the narrative of an abduction, but little over what was happening now to (supposedly abducted) Madeleine. -Expert statement analyst Peter Hyatt said he was certain Kate and Gerry were lying in interview. - Despite public disquiet over their veracity, the McCanns have refused to take a lie detector test. - Various statements of the McCanns and their friends changed and were contradictory. - Jane Tanner's initially vague account of the possible abductor changed and became more detailed. Initially, she said she did not see his face, then claimed it was Robert Murat, but retracted that, and much later said that he had scruffy long hair and moustache, to fit another alleged suspect (who looked very different from Murat). - 3 of the McCanns' friends said they saw Robert Murat in the area of the McCanns' apartment the evening Madeleine disappeared. Other people who knew him did not. They later admitted they may have been mistaken. - The police interview statement of David Payne confirming he saw Madeleine alive before they went out for drinks was riddled with hesitancy and contradictions compared with what Gerry and Kate said. - The Madeleine fund has not been a charity, nor totally committed to finding her. - A huge amount of time and money has been spent on lawyers and suing critics of the McCanns that might have been spent instead on finding Madeleine. - A huge amount has been spent on criminal and incompetent private detectives with bogus stories and leads. Year after year there have been new prime suspects publicised by the media, and police wild goose chases, diversions from the truth, and often promoted by the McCanns and their publicist/media controller Clarence Mitchell
Well done! A great summation. I never, not once thought this pair innocent. I just watched, where a police whistle blower said the McCanns were swingers, and they used to knock the kids out with drugs, and she was killed by too much sedative/anesthetic
There are gaping holes in ALL of the TAPAS group's statements! For many observers of this case, it seems clear that Madeleine died BEFORE the night of the so called abduction. There are no photographs after the first day. Who takes their kids on holiday and does not take lots of snaps? (Especially nowadays with digital cameras). Most of us suspect that she died in the appartment, possibly from a blow to the head. Possibly after falling over in a chemically induced stupour. All of the other odd bits of information add to the suspicions. ie:- the removal of the fridge, the missing sports bag, the blood, the cutting of the twins hair, the bleaching of the appartment, the washing of the cuddle cat, the deliberate contamination of the "SCENE OF THE CRIME", the delay in calling the police,. And the continual changing of the story all goes to fuel suspicion.
I like how they both have different opinions and aren’t afraid to disagree with each other. it makes it so much more interesting to watch and you aren’t just hearing 2 people agree on everything. This is how it should be done
The 1980s Welsh history series The Dragon has Two Tongues involved 2 historians with very different views arguing their case- compelling viewing. In this McCann case the mass of evidence points to the McCanns' guilt and cover-up, and also cover-up by the British establishment and mainstream media!
One thing that gets me is the interview, where Gerry basically says, it could have been worse, and all 3 could have been taken. Although true, I just find it hard for a parent to even try and justify that as a consolation prize, that at least only 1 was taken.
its not tho they were right across the street where they could see the house and they checked on the kids around every 30 mins. my parents would do this when i was little and so do many other parents which is why this one is especially terrifying for people
@@hh-mp5pf yes but the fact that they were aged THREE and under, if they were five, six maybe then okay...but not at that age, children still rely on maternal/paternal care at all times
@@hh-mp5pf it's a bad argument to say that so many parents do it, because it just paints the bigger picture of how dreadful parents are nowadays. If your parents would do that, then they're part of those bad/thoughtless parents. You're in a country that you're not familiar with, and your kids are in a hotel room which is easily accessible, you leave the gate unlocked and the door open. There is also a babysitting service within the hotel, and you have money to pay for it. Any which way you look at it, it's neglect (not necessarily in the legal sense, but in general terms).
@@SHlV It really isn't. If the kids are asleep, checked on regularly, in a safe/secure environment and in close proximity then whats the problem? The parents are allowed to enjoy the holiday too. The issue here is the age of the kids and that the room wasn't safe nor secure. This is a really common practice especially in the lower classes whereby people can't afford multiple holidays separate from the children or afford the childcare costs. Given that they were two medical professionals they have no accuse given the higher income.
@@johnsharman7614 that's what drove me crazy. There are parents who lose custody for running into a supermarket and leaving kids that age in the car for five minutes. Yet they admitted thier criminal neglence and still have their kids. People feel bad for them. Yes, it is horrible, but this wasn't a tragic accident. This happened because they made a choice to neglect their kids.
Facts are Kate left the twins alone to call for help, leaving them in the same room where Maddie, according to her version, had just been abducted. Besides, in an interview, when asked whether they had killed Maddie, Gerry smiled, hesitated, stammered a lot and answered vaguely ‘no because there is no proof about it’. Kate washed Maddie’s cuddle cat toy before the sniffer dogs’ visit, Kate made a sexual comment about Maddie in her book,... so many red flags!
Based on the Mccann's home videos, I felt spooked by the way Gerry spoke to Madeleine - I wonder if this case is similar to Jon Bennet Ramsey. "over-interested" dad? jealous mother? Kate accidentally killed her daughter just as Patsy did - maybe this is part of the reason both mothers were impatient with and unconnected to their little girls
@SB-131 I think Burke killed JonBenét on not patsy. Whether he meant to kill her or just injure her is another matter. Patsy didn't want to lose another child, so she covered for him and wrote the ransom note. No kidnapper using someone else's note paper and pen, whilist in the victim's home, writes a randsom note that long. In fact, ransom notes several pages long are unheard of. The note had a very feminine tone to it and extrapolated on things that didn't need to be said. Not to mention the amount of money demanded waa exactly the amount of John's bonus. We know that Burke was very jealous of JonBenét and had a temper problem. According to the autopsy, JonBenét had pineapples and ice cream in her digestive tract, which was Burke's favourite treat. He lost his temper that night and picked up a flash light and struck her skull with it. John then proceeded to stage the body. Even the ligature used to tie her hands was needlessly complicated. He also led a witness to where the body was placed. This is common among criminals, especially murderers, as it gives the impression that a witness discovered the body of their own accord and therefore the suspect goes with them and is deemed innocent. Common tactic. Not to mention the Ramsey's first move was to call friends over and have them tramp all over the house. The body was also moved, contaminating the crime scene further. And I haven't even got started on the emergency phone call Patsy made... You can hear 3 voices when the audio is enhanced; Patsy, John and Burke, despite the Ramsey's stating Burke was asleep, in bed, at the time. It sounds like he asks "What have you found?" in a sing song voice. You can hear John reprimand him or speak authoratively the way a parent speaks to a child. So many red flags in this case. If you don't mind me asking, what makes you think Patsy committed the murder or manslaughter? As for the McCannes, I've always assumed they were guilty. I believe Madeline was given a sedative and either over dosed, or more likely was injured, as the cadaver and blood dogs hit on several places inside the home and hire car. Not to mention on Madeline's stuffed toy. Besides many other red flags, evidence and suspect behaviour and testimonies from the McCannes and their associates.
They killed her on Monday 1st May or Tuesday 2nd May giving them time to write a timeline and that would explain the leaving of the twin and going to the Tapas Bar. They needed time to scrub and bleach the flat. Hence Maddie placed in Gerry's capacious sports bag, the dogs Eddie and Keela alerted to the cadaver scent in the wardrobe in the McCanns bedroom. Where it could have been left for two days - the McCanns were cold fish as on that Mon 1st May & Tue 2nd May 2007 they were seen going back to the flat carrying Sean and Amelie to the apartment with takeaway food. But no Maddy. (They said she disappeared on Wed 3rd May 2007). Bizarre 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🍀
What about one of the children asking. “Where were you last night when ? was crying for you?” ... also They were friendly with that tv personality Freud who was in the resort at the same time - wasn’t he known as a paedophile? Can’t remember anything brought up about that!!
All I can say, is as a parent there’s no way in hell I’m gonna keep my composure….If I literally have no idea what happened to my child I’m gonna die an early death of lack of sleep and worry. There is absolutely no way my child would be missing and I’d be on TV talking about it and not be sobbing.
You do realise a) the party eating where checking on the child every 20-30min or so and b) this was considered a safe area. As +You know What rightly says, you know nothing of this case. Do everyone a favor and go watch it
Yeah that and the other hundred odd things that don't make sense about the parents and point at their wrong doing. It's all out there, we can all see it ourselves. We don't need the likes of The Sun to keep money making and bullshitting us about it. We will keep talking about it on a lower level for the rest of our days and those on a higher level will always know they can brush anything under the carpet and propagate through the media to cover up. Way of life at that level. Is there ANYONE out there that don't think the parents are involved/responsible? Only a total, total idiot who possibly still believes in Santa(or cheap, scandalous British tabloids) I personally believe they were selling her for abuse for stupid amounts of money and it went pear shaped. Lots point at that, ive seen hours and hours of genuine footage about this case and everything points at that.
@@stuarthossack5351 yes. Peodophiles are seen as people who snatch kids from your back garden or the dodgy uncle but what about peodophiles with money? Where do they get kids? They pay.
As you said the parents are very clinical, I think they accidentally overdoded her hours before and when "checking on her" they were trying to sort out what to do with her in a calm way
@callum white Gamez um yes. It's neglect to leave a young child unattended and alone. It may not be child endangerment although I think there's an argument for that.
The British police review/investigation into this cold case has lasted for nearly 12 years, costing about £14,000,000 and have come up with nothing. The Portuguese police actually solved this case in 2007.
@@mariaronaldo3139 even so, the British police might not want to. The Portuguese police couldn’t find out if their life’s depended on it either way so it’s pretty pointless
The thing that gets me the most is the parents trying to justify leaving Maddie in the room, saying it was the same distance as being in the backyard and the kids being asleep in the house. Here’s the difference: your home isn’t in a foreign country, and you don’t have to walk past dozens of strangers to get to your kids from the fuckin backyard.
The forensics found only one fingerprint on the shutters and that belonged to Kate McCann. Also the crime scene photographs show the curtain behind the sofa was tucked in and the shutters were not disturbed. Contrary to Kate's narrative that they were gemmied open and the window was open causing a draught when she opened the door.
Yes the "whoosh of the curtain" Kate's description --- points the curtain was trapped behind the second single bed, There was no wind to whoosh any curtain as the Portuguese police checked weather many weeks either side of the supposed 3rd May Wednesday date and there were no winds sufficient to ruffle any drapes. The week they were there it was heavy overcast skies and one hot sunny day Sunday 30th April 2007. No winds. So "whoosh" all you like Kate it doesn't hold water. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🍀
A Fucking Pizza • 12 years ago exactly. Let’s not forget the money that WE donated to help find their daughters ended up being used to pay off they’re mortgage. They are the number one suspects.
Absolutely. What makes no sense at all is how those parents could leave three children under four alone in an unlocked apartment. It is child endangerment as sadly the unfolding events later showed. I also cannot understand how checking up on them every half hour makes it any safer? They were still left alone and vulnerable the rest of the time. Also too much pressure on a three year old to comfort crying babies... As parents we have a duty of care to protect our children and not put them into dangerous situations. That’s an awful burden to live with...
I'm a parent and we never left our children. They also on buggies etc, you'd never leave doors unlocked either. The whole point of going on holiday with your children is for memories and being together.
Great point! And those memories are captured in PHOTOGRAPHS. Yet the McCanns took none all week, even though HE stated that they were having such a wonderful vacation.
has any one ever went on hoilday abroad and left their valuables for example passports, money, camera, extra money and left their door unlocked? now, imagine leaving your children and all your valuables, important documents like passports and going out and not locking up. who does that ?
It makes me so mad, when it’s said ‘it’s nothing that other parents, wouldn’t / haven’t done’ (leaving children alone in a room) - well no I would never have even considered, leaving my 2 daughters like that for a millisecond !!!!
@@johnsharman7614 exactly John the should of been done for abandonment, but when your wealthy and well connected like to the masons as Gerry McCann is you can get away with certain things. Tell you now if Kate was a cleaner and Gerry a bricklayer they would of been done for child negligence as the very least.
that's a good thing though? because it brings out every idea and opinion rather than them both agreeing on everything the vid would be 20 minutes if that was the case.
The Netflix documentary isn’t flattering to the lead investigator. I can’t help but feel this is intentional. If you actually research the case you discover that the lead investigator - Goncalo Amaral was a highly respected and extremely thorough investigator.
@@melvynobrien6193 - That's not true, the McCanns refused to cooperate with the investigation and left Portugal. The PJ had no option other than to shelve the case. It's only shelved, not closed.
@@bobbyclemente21 - I'll rephrase that for you - The McCann's have connections with powerful people who are willing to help them. Check the names that come up in all the info and the people who helped them are not bottom feeders, like they are, they are higher up in the ranks folk who could pull strings to effectively take control of a case, in another sovereign sate. They probably run in the same circles largely connected thru their work and social circles and I suspect there's a freemasons connection. They kept their mouths shut, like instructed to, to buy time, they were deliberately obstructive, Special Kate only answered the legal requirements when interviewed which is massively telling and the strings were pulled by others. Like I said before, they are bottom feeders who were probably liked in their 'other circles' to get as much help as they did and have got and will still get until on this wild goose chase ends and they stop throwing money at it to pin their neglect on someone else.
I used to babysit for my friends and I would go and check the room on a regular basis just to make sure that the baby was alright. And I was in the house. Those parents, I am sorry, were negligent at least. My theory, however, is that something really more sinister happened. I do agree that assuming she had been taken gave them away. Normally you would say "Where is she, where has she gone?" Maybe later you would start thinking about someone having taken her but not straight away. I think it was all a set up. How they were able to pull it through is anyone ''guess. In any case, the negligence is there and they have gotten away with it because they have friends in high places. Just my opinion. Not answering the police questions, as you say, does not look good.
The total lack of physical evidence in this case is very strange, no fingerprints, no DNA, NOTHING but the cadaver dogs and the corpse scent behind the couch and in the trunk of the car.
One thing I found pretty strange was how the McCanns worked extensively to discredit any possible lead that even remotely considered an accident in the apartment, no matter if it implicated them or not, they defied it at all costs and went after bizarre unreal leads almost purposefully. Their actions alone speak louder than words. While the dogs alerting doesn’t mean anything concrete evidence wise, They had no qualms against the use of them and welcomed it. As soon as the dogs alerted, instead of attempting to explain anything even remotely possibly, Gerry immediately attempted to discredit the dogs by using an American case where dogs alerted and found nothing, after alerting on multiple random spots. Months later during that same court case, the victim who was blamed for murder confessed to it and admitted that the body was stored in all of the locations where the dogs alerted. Those parents are so fucking weird man, they know something. 100%
I have moved up to the north east after living in Cheshire for 55 years. I am not a Geordie. I think you are an example of a true Gordie. I love your work 💕
What really bugs me is how many kids go missing every year and they don’t get the treatment that this situation did. Why should they be treated differently? Something very sinister but nobody can quite put their finger on it.
I think the parents killed maddie or were responsible for her death in another way, and covered it up by saying she was kidnapped just for the documentaries and money they'd make from them
yeah honestly its disgusting, i think they said “her perfect little genitals being torn” like what parent in their right mind when their child is missing, goes straight to worrying about their 3 year old childs genitals??
As a father, I think it is weird that she said this nevertheless understandable as we all handle things in different ways. I don't think for one minute this puts her in the frame as you would naturally think the worst, especially if you factor an abductor into the mix. Just look at what these sickos are capable of for gods sake, your imagination would run away with you probably pulling in horrific contexts. She was honest with the people, what else do you want.
I’m born in the same year as Madeleine McCann and I noticed from around 2007 my parents made a lot more effort to ensure my safety in holiday hotels. Pre-2007, they’d leave us in our room from essentially 8 until midnight, but from Madeleine’s disappearance they always made sure there was a sufficient baby sitter or I would go to a kids club until 11pm, which is excessive for a 5 year old. Basically her disappearance was a real eye opener for young families. I remember going to Mallorca in 2008, seeing pictures of her everywhere, and I was absolutely petrified at night throughout the holiday after finding out what happened to her. The whole disappearance massively effected the lives of my generation.
Defo, I'm the age of the twins but still, it affected so many people, way more than the mccans actually thought it would probably why they acted so weird, they weren't prepared for so much publicitu
i’d take the two kids with me because 1- my other kid has vanished and 2- because the abductor could still be in the room or could be racing back to get them
She had her phone with her to use or could have shouted from the apartment. Incredulously she claimed in her book that she thought the abductor was still in the apartment when she left the other 2 children unattended! I fully get she would be panicking and not thinking straight, had there been an abduction, but under such stress, a mother's core instinct to protect her children would kick in even stronger.
And another red flag to me is that the McCanns and their friends put all the children back in the creche the very next day. As if you would do that with an abductor of small children on the loose!
The cadaver dog (which had a 100% success record btw) found cadaver in the room and the hire car. They killed her, probably by accident then ditched her.
Timelime is a problem. She was seen at the pool in the afternoon. It takes a couple of hours before a dead person releases cadaverine. So if she died from and overdose, it becomes akward. We must asume that the drugs were given just before the Tapas bar visit. And then there would be short visits every half hour to discover her, stash her behind the sofa, stash her in the cupboard, stash her in the sports bag and dispose of the body. Not gonna happen. Unless they phoned someone who came by, and “took care of the problem”. A friend with a great hiding place where noone would look. There is only one place where people automatically would stay away from during a search. The church.
That’s only under the assumption that the photo was taken on that afternoon at 2:30pm. Just for the record the camera that photo was taken on was never examined as evidence. So there is no set timeline because it cannot be proven that maddie was still alive at that time.
@@Traitorman..Proverbs26.11 probably didnt die from overdose but woke up and she was still confused due to the sedative and injured herself maybe fell from the couch head first.
and this guy has a machine which, when a piece of DNA is inserted, can determine where anybody, dead or alive, is located. It said she was still in Pria de Luz. Considering the intense searches, she couldnt have been hiding, I would say the parents put her 6 feet under after killing her by accident
Ever since this case hit the headlines I have been suspicious of the parents. The thing that hit me first was that they left 3 children that small for so long on their own. I’m a father of 3 and grandfather of 5 and I wouldn’t leave any of them like that.
To me, this was a strange case. It was strange how the parents decided to dine away from their young children without a babysitter. And it was strange how they behaved during the interviews. It felt like seeing poor acting in a film, which is by no means any indication of guilt. But it seemed odd. I hope this case is solved during my lifetime.
Nobody else would have done this. You either get the kids in their strollers and have them with you at the meal or you put everyone's young kids into 1 apartment and have an adult permanently in the room with them. Preschool kids always look for their parents when they wake up. You need an adult presence there.
If a mother seriously believed that an abductor has taken her daughter, would she leave her twin babies in the room and run out to the Tapas? By doing so, isnt she putting the twins at high risk when an abductor is lurking around? Her actions are highly questionable.
If you look at the Soham and April Jones cases the parents were in bits pleading for their kid’s safe return. Kate wasn’t like that, she was just silent which to me is out of character for someone who’s lost their daughter.
@Nicola Brewer they rented that car 25 days after she went missing. So you think they hid a body for at least 25 days, in their vacation destination. And then got rid of it in this car. And all of this whilst being followed by 50 news reporters everywhere they go. Use your common sense mate
It's not just their attitude. The way they talked about Madeleine, like she was a perfect toy, her genitalia... disgusting. Not to mention Clement Freud dinners. The church. Fuck sake, they did it.
Way too many things go against what you’d expect from them if they wasn’t involved in some sort of way, I %100 believe they did it or was involved/know what happened. Like why would you be instantly thinking “they’ve taken her” who’s they?
This is the first video I've come across from this channel and you guys have been a joy to listen to! Usually I don't like these longer format podcast type videos as I have a short attention span. Unless it's a historical or crime documentary, I have trouble paying attention to these types of videos where people just sit down together and have a discussion. But I've enjoyed this: you've laid out the facts of the case and the Netflix documentary very well (I've watched the documentary and researched the case, even watched Richard D. Hall's investigation on it, but I still like to hear about it from different perspectives and catch any new information about the case), as well as adding your own takes and opinions respectfully.
THOSE 48 QUESTIONS WERE DESIGNED TO ASSIST THE POLICE ON JUST FINDING MADDIE. THATS ALL. KATE DECLINED TO ANSWER. SHE DIDNT WANT MADDIE FOUND. SHOCKING
She refused to answer any of those question because she only cared about herself and did what quilty suspects sometimes do when they fear that they will be caught. Keeping quiet saved her from prosecution, as she hadn't any innocent explanations to what she was asked.
Honestly. Even if she was innocent, just afraid of looking guilty, this doesn’t add up. If you really wanted to find your kid, so desperately like any good mother would, you wouldn’t be afraid of looking bad. Your focus is on finding your kid, not yourself.
she would have been advised not to by her lawyer, just saying. on balance though, i feel it was an arranged kidnap/sale to high profile person for whatever reason. The PJ suspect something foul play and i don't blame them. Every suspect they try to pin has an alibi. Is having fish and chips and table wine more important than looking after three toddlers or even locking the door. GM makes up a shutter story - why would he do that, KM says 'they've taken her' all very weird expect its not is it.
I've been wondering the same. What are the two younger ones going to think about this story when they get older and look into on their own? Kate and Gerry can't hide it from them forever. They will have the advantage of knowing their parents' personalities inside out. Time will tell...unless they are mysteriously abducted too.
In my experience as a mum, Calpol takes down a temperature and the child kind of wakes up possibly because of a colourant or something being added. I am surprised Calpol was mentioned - I think Phenergan, an antihistamine which brings on drowsiness, would have been a more likely medicine. It's available over the counter at pharmacies and was used by adults for insomnia. It is safe to be given to toddlers, so perhaps all three children were given it as Madeline asked the mother why she didnt come the previous night when she called out that the twins were crying ? I'm not surprised the twins didn't wake up that fateful night. Just my thoughts from a mum and nurse. God bless Madeline ❤.
In Portugal and Spain opiates like Codeine are available over the counter. Kate was an anaesthetist. she would have felt confident giving it to her child to make her sleep.
there's a theory that maddie died the previous night that the mcanns claim and the whole "twins were crying" was a made up thing to either suggest she was alive the previous night wghen she wasn't, or to just give the idea that no sedatives were used.
To be honest, it’s worth giving them false hope just to rule out the fact that it is or isn’t them. There is no way in hell that they would be prepared for that confrontation if they are guilty
From the start, Kate and Gerry always seemed more concerned with appearing innocent of any wrong-doing by pushing the "abduction" narrative, rather than actually being concerned for the safe recovery of their daughter. They acted like they knew she was dead, and the prudent thing to do was to create a narrative to protect themselves, their other children, and their careers. If you look at it from this perspective, a lot of their odd behaviour actually makes more sense.
I think she had an accident and they knew that because they had left her unsupervised there would be consequences when they returned to the UK, so they decided to make up a story about her having being abducted. You walk into a room and your child is not there how on earth can you suddenly know that someone has taken her!! Also if you believed that there was a person or people abducting children why would you leave the other 2 alone in the room and run back to the restaurant table
When i first heard of this, my instincts went on high alert and a voice inside my head said that the mother pushed her, she hit her head and died. Two days later, the Portuguese investigator reported Mandy's DNA found in the trunk of the parents car. Bloody trunk and a lot of skin cells. He was fired. Tony Blair, Margaret thatcher and other ppl in power supported the parents. Is the truth finally going to come out and make these dignitaries come across as easily manipulated, and stupid? The parents have made a lot of money from this. Gross.
They found her, concealed her body, infact they kept her body for a while ,hence the cadaver scents 3mths after, speaks volumes. The dog finding cadaver scents in the new property also they rented again speaks volumes. They most certainly covered there own backs, and got away with it all.
This case makes my skin crawl every time I see something about it. It’s disgusting from the parents either way, they need to be imprisoned for either murder or child abuse.
Because you are a normal person.. As simple as it is.. P.s. Even if you do leave them alone, which is not normal, but even if you do that, would you ever leave the door open???
@@loonibabes IIRC Kate and also one of the other tapas 9 are anaesthetists, so they would know a thing or 2 about getting people to sleep, but drugs they use would make a child much more drowsy than cough syrup (calpol) and also more likely to fall and hit their head if they woke up in the middle of the night.
Shaun Griffith I remember giving my kids Calpol when they were sick. Obviously. But for a mother especially, to leave those three babies alone in a strange room, in a foreign country, it’s insanity. I wouldn’t have left mine ANYWHERE, as most wouldn’t. Remember, Kate is an anaesthesiologist....I reckon it was more than Calpol that was used. They could have explained an accident, but not if Madeleines autopsy reports, or toxicology report, would show up stronger prescription medication that Kate had ample access to. That’s why they had to cover it up. Or, they’re part of this paedophile ring. I think it’s more likely that they dosed those kids up. Those twins slept through everything. Doors slamming, people searching, and moving them to their friends room....the twins never woke up. That’s not normal.
As a parent I find it incomprehensible that two supposedly intelligent doctors and their friends thought it was safe and acceptable to leave their young children in rooms alone while the ate and drank a distance away.
@@Wallflower905 I am not convinced that is relevent. It might be the case with the twins, but only to ensure that they stayed quiet. I was willing to accept that Madeleine died accidentally. But only the other day, I thought IF she gad died accidentally, that would be tragic, and a swift hearing would have been sufficient. But I now believe that she MUST have died from a blow. A blow that resulted in death. A parent beating a child, and causing death would not be taken lightly. And a trial would have revealed all sorts of unpleasant truths. Like him being on the sex offenders register. And being involved in the sex abuse scandal at Glasgow Celtic Boys F.C. This goes much deeper.
@@stevefowler3398 yeah, I’ve never thought about it like that but it makes sense! I was more thinking the calpol kept the twins quiet and asleep during the chaos after maddie was “found to be missing”
I’ve been to the hotel too. We happened to stay in the same resort and curiosity meant we walked through. And I agree. All you can see is the walls. Not the doors or window of the apartment They literally left their kids up for grabs.
I stayed there once but made sure if we went out at night either the kids came or were minded, not put in an unsecured roadside apartment where anyone can walk in and you wouldn't notice, and I'm not even a Doctor. The Mccann's are still enemy no.1 in Portugal, especially, on the Algarve btw.
It's been almost 13 years and the parents still refuse a lie detector. Come on now it's pretty obvious. What sort of idiot leaves their kids in a room with no locked doors or windows and leaves them to be kidnapped?
@@uioplkhj for missing children, the parents are asked to take a lie detector by the investigators. The fact that they didn't only shows that they have something to hide and know more about the disappearance than what they're letting on. The officials wouldn't use the results in court so its not for legal purposes, just intent.
The fact Kate left the twin babies in the room when she ran back to Gerry pretty much says it all to me. A mother who believed her toddler had been kidnapped from her bedroom, her trust and security entirely violated like that, would have snatched those babies up and kept them with her.

If we asume that the dog was picking up on a dead Madelaine...
I would say,
'We did ask the dogs and they found blood and cadaver odour Gerry.
So do you care to offer an opinion on it?'

Yup no evidence of an abduction ever, which seemed to be overlooked the whole time.
I think the first fear response would be that she could have woken up and wandered outside. Kate should have been worried she could have fallen in the pool, wandered into traffic, the ocean etc. Kate already had a narrative, and only one narrative strait away.
@@susanspurling4826 I think the same thing! I would've been in a panic about that prospect which seems more likely than an abduction
there were no children to leave, that's why she ran. She didn't even lock the door.. 😂 😂 The checks did not happen.
- Gerry refused to comment when asked if he knew fellow suspect Robert Murat
- Former doctor friends the Gaspars contacted Leicestershire police to express concerns that David Payne had jokingly made sexual comments and gestures about Madeleine to Gerry.
Well Said .... And in fifteen years there has never been an iota of evidence that Madeleine was abducted.
@Mizofan - Excellent breakdown 👏
Well done! A great summation. I never, not once thought this pair innocent. I just watched, where a police whistle blower said the McCanns were swingers, and they used to knock the kids out with drugs, and she was killed by too much sedative/anesthetic
This breakdown is exactly what detectives should be firing into the mccans and nailing the bastards for killing their child.
Loz I playing devils advocate not disagreeing
The 1980s Welsh history series The Dragon has Two Tongues involved 2 historians with very different views arguing their case- compelling viewing. In this McCann case the mass of evidence points to the McCanns' guilt and cover-up, and also cover-up by the British establishment and mainstream media!
I think that's rehearsed, they both believe the parents were guilty
One thing that gets me is the interview, where Gerry basically says, it could have been worse, and all 3 could have been taken. Although true, I just find it hard for a parent to even try and justify that as a consolation prize, that at least only 1 was taken.

With so many reasons why maddy shouldn't have gone missing you have to think, did they sell her
Facts are Kate left the twins alone to call for help, leaving them in the same room where Maddie, according to her version, had just been abducted.
@SB-131
I think Burke killed JonBenét on not patsy.

I 100% agree. I'd watch my children *closer* while abroad. They were shit parents on that trip. So negligent.
This used to happen all the time though, people thought nothing of leaving their kids alone/asleep in the rooms.
Big words
If they wasn’t middle class they would of been charged with that at the very least

The Netflix documentary isn’t flattering to the lead investigator. I can’t help but feel this is intentional. If you actually research the case you discover that the lead investigator - Goncalo Amaral was a highly respected and extremely thorough investigator.
The case is closed for the Portugese police; the McCanns did it, as far as they're concerned. Nothing more to investigate.
The truth of the lie is great book.
@@melvynobrien6193 - That's not true, the McCanns refused to cooperate with the investigation and left Portugal. The PJ had no option other than to shelve the case. It's only shelved, not closed.
Propaganda is EVERYWHERE! The McCanns must have dirt on a lot of people in power...
Months later during that same court case, the victim who was blamed for murder confessed to it and admitted that the body was stored in all of the locations where the dogs alerted.

yeah honestly its disgusting, i think they said “her perfect little genitals being torn” like what parent in their right mind when their child is missing, goes straight to worrying about their 3 year old childs genitals??
Maddie died at the resort. Cadaver dogs found many hits in their apt and car.
So... she ran out and left the other kids behind after suspecting one had been taken already?
i’d take the two kids with me because 1- my other kid has vanished and 2- because the abductor could still be in the room or could be racing back to get them
Yet another Red Flag that I haven't heard others talking about.
Yes. If your child had been abducted you would never let your other children out of your sight, let alone leave them with strangers

Their guilty as hell
Exactly!! Leaving them hopped up on calpol
Some theory is valid. When they dined with their friends, the girl was already died. They will be guilty of neglect and irresponsible but not murder.
They say you can't get away with murder
But I know 2 people who McCann

I love the fact that Lawrence counters every point he thinks of every view point.
If a mother seriously believed that an abductor has taken her daughter, would she leave her twin babies in the room and run out to the Tapas? By doing so, isnt she putting the twins at high risk when an abductor is lurking around? Her actions are highly questionable.
That's a good point right there
How did this not occur to me?
If you look at the Soham and April Jones cases the parents were in bits pleading for their kid’s safe return. Kate wasn’t like that, she was just silent which to me is out of character for someone who’s lost their daughter.

When her Dad said, it’s akin to having a bbq and your kids are in your house? This is not how we speak in Scotland.
Very well said 👏

Agree .. they are guilty for being bad parents
I stayed at the same resort and by the same pool a year before her disappearance. You could not see the room clearly from the bar like they say.
I’ve been to the hotel too. We happened to stay in the same resort and curiosity meant we walked through. And I agree. All you can see is the walls. Not the doors or window of the apartment
They literally left their kids up for grabs.
@Nature Witch you are a slick lad 💯
@Nature Witch lads I’ve solved it. It was Ellis
I like the camera angles you guys got going on in this podcast, really nicely done. Looks good.
do people actually watch this? thought they just listened
@@ooo-rl7zt I only listen
It's been almost 13 years and the parents still refuse a lie detector. Come on now it's pretty obvious.
What sort of idiot leaves their kids in a room with no locked doors or windows and leaves them to be kidnapped?
Lie detector don't detect lies... watching too much Jeremy Kyle.
Yep i agree, id make them do one
@@hellokittytocagroup1020 They don't work numpty
@@uioplkhj for missing children, the parents are asked to take a lie detector by the investigators. The fact that they didn't only shows that they have something to hide and know more about the disappearance than what they're letting on. The officials wouldn't use the results in court so its not for legal purposes, just intent.
@@Tuncapoo Most European countries do not use polygraphs at all. It was a public demand not a law enforcement demand.
The fact Kate left the twin babies in the room when she ran back to Gerry pretty much says it all to me. A mother who believed her toddler had been kidnapped from her bedroom, her trust and security entirely violated like that, would have snatched those babies up and kept them with her.
