Of all the Grady Hendrix books, I have read I am most relate to Horrorstör, because I’ve worked retail and I realize how soul sucking it really is and this way I relate to it so much
I really like the shining and what King did in the book but I also like what Kubrick did in the film they are two different pieces of art, and I appreciate both of them and their artists
The Haunting of Hill house filled me with such rage. Everyone is so hyped for this "classic". Respectfully, no. It, FOR ME, was not scary and so painfully predictable at the end.
I loved it too and I didn’t realize that it would be considered a horror until now. I never considered myself a horror reader but I guess I should try it out since I loved Mexican Gothic so much
picked up White Smoke from this recommendation - holy crap possibly some of the scariest scenes in books i've read just coz of the way they were written! and has such an interesting main character!
My Best Friend's Exorcism is so much fun! I grew up in the 80s so it was so nostalgic! but I think anyone who reads this book no matter the age will enjoy it ☺️
I really love something wicked this way comes because I am a sucker for coming of age stories and the boys in this book are 13 going on 14 and the birthday is Halloween
Absolutely living for your autumn content, thank you! Also I totally agree about the Shining, it’s the only King novel I’ve read so far but it’s definitely hooked me on his writing. I read it last year and it totally changed my perception of the movie, especially knowing the way Kubrick chose to change certain characters and remove a lot of their agency
I LOVED The Lighthouse Witches! I have The Nesting, and knowing it’s more horror makes me want to pick it up sooner. She does not get enough hype. She does have a new novel, A Haunting in the Arctic. The UK hardback cover is stunning.
Gerald Durrell (of My Family and Other Animals fame) compiled a collection of horror stories, I don't remember the name of the book though. One of those stories kept me up at night and terrified of mirrors for a very long time.
As of a couple of weeks ago, I actually finally read The Shining by Stephen King. (This was because I wanted to read 'Doctor Sleep' as I liked the movie adaption of the same book.) Refusing to read IT just yet, because the Shining was my second King novel. 'Haunting of Hill House', 'Youre not suppose to die tonight', 'White Smoke' 'Mexican Gothic', 'Horrostor' & 'Final Girl Support Group' is also on my radar. 'Southern book clubs guide to slaying vampires' & 'How to sell a Haunted House' will be getting read. Sorry to hear you didn't like haunted house. Sour Candy sounds interesting.
Few books actually scare me as well but one that really did scare me was Kill Creek by Scott Thomas because of the vibes and imagery. How To Sell A Haunted House was also my least favorite Hendrix but I really love Hendrix so so much so it was still good but yea, it was the least of the bunch for me.
The shining has only one great line in it and that is HERES JOHNNY love that line and you should no why and IT is amazing love it to prayers and blessings for you and your family love your Aussie family friend John 🧡🧡🧡🖤🖤🖤

For me the movie is superior over the book which is very unusual
The book was pure genious
@@bridgettedunagan8181 agreed, but the film was also a Masterclass in filmmaking

I love Grady Hendricks, i love that you listed almost all his books
I really enjoyed Mexican Gothic.

Coming back to this one now that horror is more my thing and I am adding SO MANY books to my wish list!
I feel the like The Year of the Witching is probably like White Smoke and you’d probably enjoy!!
I've seen that one about the place, will look into it, thank you for the rec!
I've read a book about a haunted store (think it was actually a haunted retail park) it's called the Overnight by Ramsey Campbell. Was very scary.
Great list! I love the Ultimate Storyteller edition of The Shining. Sour Candy is on my TBR.

Firs video I see of you! Love your voice and recomendations. Subscribed!
Love this beth
I read the deep and I couldn’t get ready for work in the dark because I got freaked out ahha
I love the print hanging behind you of the moon in phases with the dark background, where did you find it?
Im going to give White Smoke a try. CJ Cooke is so good!
Can I request a “cutesy” or “Witchy” recommendation video? Like fun Hocus Pocus vibes?
I’d love to do a video like that, but I don’t think I’ve read enough books within that genre to do a video on them yet. But maybe for next year!
I’ve heard such good things about sour candy!
If you want to read something that will scare you, try Saul Black’s Killing Lessons
Read The Nesting a year ago. I would like to read Were not to die tonight.
Were not to Suppose to die tonight

You look like you could be Kiernan Shipka’s hot older sister.
You speak too fast, forgive me. I missed some titles. Have you listed them in the notes?
Hi, there's no notes no, this is just the speed I speak at, I know it's fast, but it isn't too fast, it's just natural for me.
She speaks at a perfectly normal pace. You’re able to pause, rewind, and even put the speed at .75 also get some tact
