If I can’t sleep I always listen to anything by Neil Gaiman. He was born a storyteller.

Hi, I adore Little Women and am very happy you enjoyed/recommend it too! 😊 Have you also read/listened to the rest of the series, which includes Good Wives (sometimes included within/after Little Women), Little Men or Jo’s Boys? They are all such wonderful books that I’ve personally read many many times! 💜

i LOVED andy serkis’ narration for the hobbit and lotr. i initially reread the hobbit through his audiobook and absolutely adored it and then i came back to listen to it again a few years later to find that he’d since narrated aaaall of them. and thus i finally read the lord of the rings lol. you pointed it out too, but i think seeing his excitement and his love for the universe show through in his narration made some of the “boring” parts be so so enjoyable! he sounded like he was having so much fun with it and that carries over to /my/ enjoyment lol. plus, his voice acting is off the charts. i’ve been recommending those audiobooks to all my bookish friends lol

follow up on this, a recommendation i’ve got is the nevermoor series by jessica townsend! the audiobooks are narrated by gemma whelan and she does a fantastic job. it’s my favourite way to consume those joyous stories. honourable mentions go to the witcher series (narrated by peter kenny who makes them sooo compelling) and the memoirs of lady trent series (narrated by kate reading)! both elevate their respective source material by having someone who truly seems to care about and understand it be the one narrating it.

I use Libby, which is free (extremely important) and has a pretty decent range for me. It's fantastic for experimenting with new authors, or borrowing books you don't want to buy.
The best audiobooks I've listened to are The Hobbit/LoTR read by Andy Serkis, who is an incredibly talented actor! Also, the Hercule Poirot books read by Hugh Fraser or David Suchet, who ofc both acted in the incredible series.
David Attenborough is a wonderful person, and should be protected at all costs! 🙂

This is really interesting because if they can do the scrolling lyrics Apple music might have some competition.

I just dual read and listened to The Graveyard Book for a class assignment and the writing itself and narration by Gaiman were fantastic. I'm definitely checking out more of his works bc of it

Piranesi is my favourite audiobook but I recently listened to Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice For Murderers and that was so good. I recently discovered I get 15 hours of audiobooks included with Spotify premium so that’s another place I listen now. I love listening to audiobooks while doing housework and walking my dogs - any time I can’t read with my eyes really!

If you are willing to pay, the Queens public library in New York City offers a non-resident membership for $50 a year and you can add your e-card to libby. I was also able to get an e-card from the San Jose public library in California.

The Art Thief by Michael Finkel was hands down the best audiobook I've ever listened to. Its a compelling, fascinating, and wild nonfiction about a couple who stole art from museums in the last 90's and 2000's in Europe told like a mystery novel unfolding as we hear it. Absolutely brilliant in both the storytelling and the narration.
