Glad it’s working out for you. I got issued one when I deployed to Iraq. But since I was a SAW gunner, the mag pouches held some Red Man pouches, and other odds and ends. I only got one frag, so the other pouch had a compass. I would’ve been happier with my old Alice set up. I never cared for it, but maybe that would’ve been different if I was carrying an M16. Keep up the great videos!
I love your vids. They're answering questions that went through my mind as I was contemplating buying the LBV vest I saw yesterday. I now feel a sense of urgency-- in my experience, if you find something at a surplus store you like, it wont be there for long if you dont jump on it
Damn Brother - glad you're powering through! Yeah I'm a fan of the LBV-88 (Enhanced). They weren't issued during my time either. The main attraction for me is it's really just an expanded 'deuce gear' set up with vest pouches replacing the H or Y harness. I like the positioning of the magazine pouches off to the sides on the ribs as I don't like wearing 'stuff' directly in front of me as I kind of like going prone when I can. Don't know how the boys wearing loaded PCs can do that but they do! As cap6888 mentioned I also stick a Lensatic compass in one of the grenade pouches and a small GPS in the other. The positioning of those pouches isn't the best and I see your point. On the web belt I've set up a standard ALICE load - a 3-mag pouch on either side, 2 canteens, a small GP pouch I can reach, IFAK and a butt pack. If I keep the butt pack light (thin) I can still manage to get in a car seat. The FLC works well enough too by keeping pouches off to the sides but I prefer the 'angle' of the LBV pouches. The SPEARS vest you've shown seems like it's the best of both worlds with the 'angled' MOLLE on it. The LBV -88 is damn handy for other purposes as well like hiking and hunting - having access to stuff without dropping your pack. Get well!💪
Thank you i been watching for couple years now and got many good idea's from ure video's for my gear but i cant tell if it saved my reply to your comment as it wont show but if the belt is nylon with 3 eylets id be intrested in it to help complete my m67 equipment set its collectible and they were expirimetal during the war but its called the davis belt cause the buckle maker is davis but was actually called quick release and since m67 gear was expirimetal it was never issued in full sets but anyway I hope you still got it and thank you again
Not sure about this .. I keep my compass in my leftside grenade pouch and a firekit in my rightside pouch .. I can see the value of having my more mags but tyhere is always the issue of going prone with the bulky mag pouches on your beltline .. something we dealt with using LBE .. vs the LBV ..
Even with double alice pouches on either side of the belt they don't even reach my front at all. With the extra room from the lbv88 I could get rid of a mag pouch on either side
just a thought i dont have my lbv handy to check but can you take out the top seam of the mag pouch to make a pass thru behind the mag pouches it could double your capacity
@@renaissancemarinetv3536 kind of like how on an alice pack the 2 outside pockets have a pass thru behind the pocket itself. for like an axe handle. if you do that to the mag pouches on the lbv it would allow you to slip a map or lighter or such behind the mag pouch itself between the pouch and the mesh material of the vest
Like I stated before, I used mine when camping/ hunting. The vests right bottom mag pouch on the vest I put a first aid kit in, I use the SDS assault / patrol pack in conjunction with my LBV88 vest, it works like it was meant to go with it. I did not although considered doing it, cut off my grenade pouches. I may still do that. But on my belt I have two mag pouches that came with it, two canteen pouches and the butt pack. They all came with the vest and all are also woodland camo. I purchased a very odd pouch to use with the pack, it fits on either shoulder strap, it too is MOLLE but it has a built in compass pouch and a slightly larger pouch below it, its call a Liquively?" I will have to do a video on my stuff.
Yeah i am looking for one thats nylon with 3 eyelets and ive starting collecting m1967 gear and all i need is belt thr ammo pouches the plastic snap compass pouch and the sleeping bag carrier@@renaissancemarinetv3536
Ok Yeah if its nylon with 3 sets of eyelets its from veitnam aka m67 or davis wich im currently trying to complete that set of field gear @@renaissancemarinetv3536

I found that a 20 rd mag fit well in the grenade pouch.
And M1 garand clips for some reason lol. Also 2 pistol mags fit okay
Getting squared away is a continuous process. Appreciate your suggestions.

outstanding modification, thx for sharing....stay frosty brother
I use my grenade pouches, one for a battle dressing and compass other for a monocular for viewing on stops.compass and monocular are on dummy cords.
That’s a pretty good idea 💡 thanks for sharing!
Use my grenade pouches for a headlamp and fatty straps; for a quick conversion of the LBV for a winter coat wear.
Semper Gumby… always flexible! SFMF! Echo 4 Zulu out!

Hey, I was wondering if the davis buckle works well or not, I have a M1967 belt and considered swapping it for the old hook buckle.
it is fine as long as there is the slightest amount of pressure put on it. if no pressure it can come undone. but that can be a strength too
2 1911 Mags fit in one of those pouches.

im not sure i smell what you are cooking.

I used to keep a can of Kodiak in my grenade pouch when I wore the lbv88. What brand is that Molle 3 magazine pouch?
You might think Reality Survival is a smart guy but I just like listening to you talk
