So, I'm hardly what you could call a knife enthusiast. I grew up camping and whittling with my dad and was trying to get back into it, so I found your channel while researching pocket knives. Far and away the best knife channel out there. Video production is top notch, and I've found myself watching stuff I don't even have an interest in buying just because the content is so good and fun. Cheers, guys, and thanks

For chopping there are 2 factors that improve performance: 1) having a longer handle increases leverage & 2) more weight distributed at the head increases force. However, as you guys point out, the Hammer Hawk is intended more as a multi-purpose tool rather than a dedicated chopping tool. If all you want to do is demolish wood 😁, just buy a big axe. If you want something more versatile and reasonably easy to carry, the Hammer Hawk might be a good option (it's TOPS after all, it works). Sharp blades all.

Blade/head geometry is everything when it comes to an axe. This is a handaxe, it's not quite a tomahawk and it's not quite a hatchet.

Hey guys, I use a for piston as well. I keep one and a tin of charcloth on me at all times. Try keeping one of those small cubes of Vaseline with you also. It helps to seal and lube the piston, a dab will do. Plus, get some fishing line (20 pound test), tie it securely around the piston where it and the handle meet. Cut the line just short of double the piston length. As you put the piston into the cylinder, last the line across the opening in the center and then insert the piston. The line breaks the seal and you can close the piston fully. This keeping it clean of debris and is always ready to use. Try it, it does work and makes the piston last and work for years.

I think the major pro of this axe is being able to baton wood with it. I would have loved to see you two use it in that capacity for chopping wood. It's not something you do with a traditional axe, as you can bend the eye of the axe head and damage your tool. This axe could definitely be used to baton judging from your destruction test. Could you guys do a short vid on that on IG or has the axe already been given away?

Richard the lll met Saladin on the
Crusade. He pulled his two handed broadsword and with a mighty swing cut an anvil in half.
Saladin tossed a silk scarf in the air, drew his damascene scimitar and held it edge up. The silk floated down and cut in half on the sword.
    Apocryphal story: But edged tools
Should be judged on finesse too.
