Wow! Thank you AGAIN, Gord, for another amazing, thorough educational video!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Awesome in-depth overview, Gord! Thank you for continuing to support the Camtasia community with your excellent tutorials, feedback, and soothing narration! 👏👏👏
💚 And WELCOME BACK!
Thank you! This is the longest tutorial style video I've made but felt very compelled to do this as I found that the release is so bountiful and has so much for individuals, teams and organizations to benefit from.
did you implement a way to play a video in reverse? (with reversed sound as well)
@@xkilla911, you can't do that with Camtasia. However, you'll find in this video that the ability to reverse the play of a Transition is now possible. I know that's not what you are referring to, but I thought I would share that as it's shown in the video. You can check the quick access link in the video description above if you want to see that.
WELCOME BACK, GORD! I was beyond excited to see your new video AND see what it was about.
Thanks, Dale! I'm very excited to be producing again. I appreciate your support!
Great to see a new video from Gord! Indeed some useful updates for Camtasia. Detach TimeLine is something I've been wanting for a long time.
Yes! I just recently got a second monitor and to be able to make things less crowded and get more on the screen is a huge bonus.
This is an exceptionally well-made video, must subscribe.
Extremely helpful and informative. Thank you!
Wow! This update is awesome! And your video is jam packed with a ton of valuable information I can use in my video editing today! Thanks for your thoroughness Gord! This video is really helpful. -Brad
Hey Brad, I think this release will fit nicely for you to help make a simple workflow for you to create a lot more content.
This is great coverage of 2020 updates. Thanks!
Thanks, Jon! It's my longest tutorial video. I thought the release was good enough to merit the coverage.
That is most incredible video, you open now a large window to imagine the scale of the widespread benefit from the major changes taking place in this new version of Camtasia, thank you so much Gord
Hey Esam, that's exactly it. That was by design in what I put together. I'm grateful it worked and you got great value from it.

I am still using the Studio 9 version, but I plan to update in the following days. Do you have an affiliate link I can use for the upgrade process?
Thanks again for taking the time to explain all these things to us. Cheers!
Hi Adrian, the pinned comment at the top is my affiliate link. I've also put it at the top of the video description. Here it is again: gordisman.com/go/camtasia .
This video is so well explained and easy to follow... thank you
You're welcome!
Totally love your Camtasia tutorials. You really explain things so well. Thank you
Thank you for your kind feedback :)
As usual, your video is a gem! 💎. Excellent video my friend! It's good to see you back in the trenches! You are the main reason I bought Camtasia three years ago. You are the reason I decided to learn how to edit my videos. You are my main and "only official" source of information on how to use Camtasia. And, after all these past years, I'm proud to say that we are now friends! Gord = Camtasia. Boom! 👊🏻😎
Hey, Ivan... I echo back your sentiments 100%... Camtasia enabled our connection... win, win!
Thank you very much for this very clear demonstration
Glad it was helpful! What's your favorite feature in this release?
Thank you very much for that wonderfully detailed overview. I downloaded my free upgrade and cannot wait to dive into the new features!
You're welcome! It's great that you downloaded your upgrade and are gone to dive in. Please share your impressions once you've tinkered a little.
This was an excellent presentation Gord. You have done a superior job compared to anyone on UA-cam, and even TechSmith. They have been rather anemic with their information. I do have their maintenance plan and upgraded immediately on April 28th. I couldn't find any major improvements. You cleared that up for me and I look forward to the improved functionality and ease of use. Thank you, and I hope to see you back more often :)
Thank you, Paul! My approach is a little different - deeper dive, and I'm grateful that you shared this with me. Is there a particular improvement that stood out for you most?
@@GordIsman Sorry for the tardy response, I just noticed this reply, Gord. What I really liked was the detail on what the changes really are. Others have given a list of new features, but I didn't really appreciate the upgrade until you showed how it works. The replaceability and templates sure stood out. I even like the different views in the Media bin. Thank You
GORD, YOU ROCK MAN!
WELCOME BACK DUDE!
Thanks Jamie. It's great to be producing on UA-cam again.
Awesome work, Gord! Nobody covers Camtasia the way you do.
Thanks, Ross! I try my best and just let things unfold as they do.
Another excellent video good sir. I have learned a lot from your tutorials keep up the good work.😀
thanks, William! this release had some features that could be game changers for you... check out the presets and favorites!
Thank you Gord, You are very inspiring...!!
Thank you, Deni!
Gord, you nailed the overview. I have three pages of notes and am diving back into my templates today. About to do my own review as well, cheers!
Thanks for you feedback. It was a complicated one to weave together but I'm happy with the outcome :) . Good luck with your review production!
Great Job.
great review Gord. I purchased Camtasia 2020 and I'm glad I did. You just reinforced my decision. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Thanks, boss! You'll love it. It's a game-changer release.
Nice work!
Much appreciated! How are you using Camtasia?
*_Fantastic video my friend! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing and keep it up!_*
Thank you! I really like your Channel as well. I just sub'd :)
Thanks Gord! Nice to see you´re fine.
Thanks, Marcos... I'm missed not creating, but I'm back to enjoy and help again :)
Hey hey Gord! Great information man!
Thanks, Paul! It was a big production for me after been away for quite a while. I'm grateful for your feedback.
HE IS BACK... AWESOME
Thanks, Paul!
Thanks Gord! Much appreciated.
Hi Andrew! Lots of detailed demos in here for you!
Wow! I think 2020 Camtasia has improved a lot from the previous one. It's definitely worth it. Your simple but powerful tutorial is absolutely out of this world. Better than any other tutorials out there. :-) Thanks!
Thanks for tour kind words Luke. After you start tinkering, let me know if you have any things you'd like to learn further about in a tutorial?
Great info Gord. I really appreciate you sir.

@@GordIsman Many thanks Gord...I've changed my niche....now "Asking the public Questions!!"....take care Michael
Thanks for this in depth look into what's available in the new release! Seeing examples of how this stuff works has really gotten the creative cogs turning for how I can use this to best advantage. As soon as I saw there was a new release I immediately searched for "Gord Isman Camtasia 2020" because I knew you'd have the good. :)
Hey OdatNurd, I'm glad you found value in it. Yes, I like showing examples in addition to just saying what the feature is and that's why this turned into a much longer than normal video for me - there were lots of great new features. What stuck out for you as a BIG benefit from the release?
@@GordIsman I'm on a three way split between templates, favorites and placeholders. I've been muddling my way through videos with my own template where I have to remove and replace content manually just to get consistency, so it's awesome that this is much more streamlined now.
nice to c u again sir
very nice sir Thanks :)
I am so glad to see you ❤️ i am following you when i have 500 Subscribers and now 168k, thank you Gordisman
Thank you. Congrats on your Channel growth - You're doing great!!
Good to see you again. Hope life is well for you.
Thanks, Don! My health is much improved and I'm looking forward to producing content more often and getting more involved with the community.
Gord! I'm sold! I'm glad you're back bro. Track matte is awesome. Does the software record a webcam in 4k now?
I recently recorded using my Brio 4K camera and the .trec was a 2564 x 1444 resolution. I'm going to be doing some experimenting shortly with my Sony a6400 - my new camera!
You da man Gord!
Thanks, Terry!
Well, Gord, it's been a long time. I am anxious to see your video on Camtasia 2020. :)
Hey Dale, do you mean anxious or excited 🔥?
@@GordIsman Excited.
Anybody know what to do about the insane Lag on the preview window on Camtasia 2020 when editing? I've scoured the internet and tried all the tips but no fix.
Great video as always we watched all 50 minutes. Cool
Thank you, Bela! I'm glad you enjoyed it. What's your favorite part about the new release?
@@GordIsman Hi export package we were waiting for this feature and to add new clip in the middle of another clip. Cool
Yes, I think the Package feature has so many applications. I plan to share more on that topic. You know, the "Favorites" feature is a very simple thing to use and I've found it's saved me a ton of time. I don't have to search across the tools for all the stuff I normally use. It's just a no-brainer click away.
@@GordIsman 👍🏻
Gord, I have a task in my tasklist - "watch Gord's video" :-) Thank's for video and welcome back! Like!
Thanks, Pavel. What enhancements in the 2020 release do you like most?
Back in the saddle 🔥
Hey Brian, thank-you! Yes, it's been too long, but now my health is much better and I'll be producing more.
Very nice vid right there! Earned my sub with ease. :-)
One suggestion for further improvement: please level the audio between the scenes - it varies a bit during the video.
Keep up this fantastic work! :-)
Hi Geert. Thanks for sub'g to my channel. Feel free to suggest some topics for tutorials :) ... Regarding the mic... I got a new Scarlett 2i2 to work with my Blue Bluebird mic and I think I'm having some challenges getting consistent gain levels. It's more sensitive than my previous one. It should be a little cleaner next time.
Gord Isman After 10 years, I’ve just very recently migrated from a European product called Wings Platinum (Stumpfl, Austria) to Camtasia.
What a relief! I’m over the moon, blown away. It feels like I just entered the 21st century.
The level of support, presets, themes, animations, ease of use, tutorial videos, YT Channels supporting even more,... is incredible.
So, I’m first gonna watch a ton of these videos before asking for more.
Having said that: don’t be surprised when I DO come with some specific question... LOL! :-)
Thanks for your kindness. :-)
Yeah its Gord! Good to see you
Hey Pam, nice to hear from you! Thanks! I hope you are doing well these days?

yeah i did upgraded with some cool features. great!
It's a jam-packed release... lots to explore and use!
@@GordIsman slower to open. camtasia 2019 opens within 2 seconds where 2020 takes almost 10 seconds to open.... i'm disappointed for that..
Which Mic and Camera do you use ?
Hi Divine Bansui, I use a Blue Bluebird mic with the Scarlett 2i2 interface to my Windows PC. The camera, believe it or not, is a Brio 4K, but I shot in 1920x1080 for the intro/outro. What are you using?
Hi, Gord
Just a question that I haven't seen covered in your tutorials.
When exporting the file as local file, there's a tab where you can select on and off these two options:
1) Number marker entries
2) Table of contents initially visible
Item number 2 is clear, but I cannot see any diference in the final render using on/off the item number 1.
Would you be so kind so as to explain "Number of marker entries" option?
Regards,
Rafael Gallardo
Spain
Hey Rafael, Number Marker Entries: If the order of your marker items is of particular importance, you can have Camtasia number the items on your TOC automatically. I hope that helps.
Hey Gord! That's such a useful video to get started with Camtasia 2020 rightaway. I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem. I am using a trial version of 2020 and when I attempt to find more templates in the Assets section, it says "No results found in Templates
". Is that for a trial user specifically? If not, how do I access more templates? Thanks in advance!
Hi Soumen, I believe there's 1 default template that comes with Camtasia and it should be the same in the Trial version. To get more templates, go to the Asset Store. There are some FREE ones there too! Check out this video from TechSmith that has the details: ua-cam.com/video/hmhQ5lRM9R0/v-deo.html.
Sounds like they've made huge improvements overall. Track mattes is quite impressive! Regarding the webcam dimensions, is the max output still 720p?
Max output is higher, and I think it depends on a few variables. I did my screen recordings at 2560 x 1440 - the resolution my screen was set at, but it also set a much lower frame rate. I also had my Logitech Brio webcam producing output at 60fps... I think it also depends on your setup. I'm planning to a video on this in the future, for sure.
Thanks for the video. I want to create a template for split screens. Based on the new release, what would be your advice on the most efficient way to do so? Seems like the placeholders would be the way to go. I am a newbie to Camtasia. Currently researching. Thsnks!
Can you share a visual example of what you mean? Provide a link here and I'll gladly help you out with a suggestion. To me, split screen can mean a number of thing, and so an example will help.
Hi, Gord... Just found your channel and I am starting to learn from you. One question though: do you know if the gradient wipe transition can be edited in some way?. I am referring to change the speed in the way the wiping effect occurs, or the direction where the wiping effect is starting and/or endpong, etc.
It should be great to have your opinions about this.
Regards,
Rafael Gallardo.
Hi Rafael, yes, you can play with clip speed and with animation keyframes - as methods to adjust the speed of a transition you are custom creating. You can also, with key frames, adjust the start and end positions to define your start and end positions of the transition panels which means you can control the direction you are working with. Also, the length of distance between a start and end key frame in a custom animation determines how slow or fast it is - in essence, controlling speed for you. I hope this helps.
I've a question about the "Clip speed" video effect: what happens to the audio when you sped up a clip? I still have version ) of Camtasia and there if you speed up a clip the pitch of the audio goes up and any talking person turns into a chipmunk, does the 2020 version maintain the correct pitch? I ask because I like to slightly speed up my video tutorials but to do that in Camtasia I have to export the audio track to Audacity and fix the pitch.
Sorry for the late reply. No more chipmunk sound! There are no fine controls for pitch but the speed-up chipmunk sound is no longer an issue.
Does the update fix the audio/video sync problems in Mac?
My experience is mostly in using Camtasia for Windows. Why don't you test it on the Mac with a FREE trial download if you aren't using it already and then test out the scenario.
I am very new to Camtasia...presently Camtasia 9. I am considering upgrading to 2020. My stock footage vendor offers very cool stuff for adobe software. They label it "After Effect Templates" ...and more.
Will those files work in Camtasia 2020 or it a totally different file format?
Unfortunately, After Effects Templates will not work in Camtasia. Those are a proprietary format from Adobe.
@@GordIsman Thank you. I hope more similar products come out for Camtasia.
Gord, do you have a set of tutorial videos for Camtasia Beginners who have just bought Camtasia 2020? Your previous tutorials were "Last updated on Jul 12, 2018." Would be great to have your tutorials going from "Zero to Hero" with the latest version. Thank you!
Hi James, thanks for the suggestion. I've been asked a number of times, recently, to do more beginner level tutorials and I intend to. Would you be open to me asking you a few questions to get a little more clarity on your needs, as an example?
@@GordIsman I've been teaching with video for years, Gord. LOL. Happy to help in any way I can. I might be able to help you become masterful with your tutorials through learning some basic Cognitive Psychology, Learning Theory and Design Thinking.. 21stCenturyExpert.com
Hi Gord, Great stuff btw. Is there a way to run an audio track whilst recording the video, or do you think it's best to record audio and video at the same time for screencasts?
Hey TaughtUp, perhaps you can clarify a few details first. Is the audio a music track that you want to mix in with the video you are recording? Or is it voice? Is it pre-recorded and you just want to play... please help me understand what you are trying to achieve?
@@GordIsman Hey Gord, I am doing a screen-cast recording, so the audio track is voice which will have been pre-recorded with an external microphone and I will be recording my screen as well. Before when I tried to play the audio track (voice) to record the video to with either wasn't possible or it was pretty difficult an had to play the audio from another device and try and sync it up. Do you know if this is now possible in 2020 Camtasia?
If your voice track is already pre-recorded in a file, just import that track and use it on a separate track than the screencast recording you make, which would go on another track. If you don't want the audio from the screen recorded piece - if it's not relevant, just remove it. That's up to you. When you edit, you can adjust the volume in each track separately to get a balanced sound that works for you. And I'm sure you'll create your screencasts to co-ordinate with the existing voice track you imported. If you need help, feel free to reach out to me. See the link in my video description to get in touch. Good luck!
Total newbie here. Can I add links to different parts of the Camtasia video so people can jump to the section they need to reference?
Yes you can, but your output will require the Smart Player, and it's not something you can host on UA-cam. This video will help you see how it works: ua-cam.com/video/HQxcFqEUwgw/v-deo.html . So, your either looking to embed the player on a web page or one of the hosted sites shown in the video. I hope that helps!
I'm using the trial but my condenser mic will not work.. works fine with obs studio.. but won't work with Camtasia and now I'm getting a not enough usb message.. was thinking about buying but I'm changing my mind not paying 250 and not be able to use my mic
Hey Adrain, that's very strange. One thing to consider - check with TechSmith Support and see if they can help you troubleshoot. I've not heard of a situation like this before - it's surprising to me.
Great video! Just one question: Why would you want to export a template and then import it? It seems like you are losing information you want. I'm guessing you are using it as if you'd be sending it to someone else who doesn't have those templates and whatnot. Thanks for any help here.
Exporting templates gives you portability and the ability to share a consistent product/creation - e.g. if you use more than one machine and you want to transfer between, or you have other team members that you want to share with, and you want them to work with the exact same template. You also have the Template Manager feature now in Camtasia to help you manage that sharing as well. You may want to share more than just the template, and in that case, you can share Packages. These are just a few ideas for using a template. Do you see a possible use for yourself?
@@GordIsman Thank you for the incredibly fast reply!!! I definitely see uses as it can allow me to move from machine to machine, and also to others to collaborate and not waste time, among so many others.
Honestly, I am so grateful for your videos and your fast response. Keep up the great work and stay safe!
I got really unclear sound using Camtasia even after using noise removal and editing the sound using audacity. How to get a clear sound like your videos. Your voice is very clear. What kind of equipment and software do you use? can you show us your studio? Thanks and stay safe.
Hey Safaa, I'm glad you asked because many people ask me this question. I've never really shown those details but I plan to soon as I just got some new gear. That said, I've been using the following for all my videos up to now: Blue Bluebird microphone, and a Zoom H5 external microphone/recorder; Nikon D7100 DSLR, Logitech C920 and Logitech Brio 4K web cameras, and I use a Caddy Buddy Teleprompter with the PromptSmartPro app. I'll be revealing my new gear sometime soon in a video. I hope this helps. One special tip.. I often use my Zoom H5 with the shotgun microphone attachment. I've found this to be very helpful when I've had a particularly noisy background around me as it helped to mute the background noise very well. I also often tune my audio in Adobe Audition (or Audacity - it's free) or if it's pretty clean, I just tune it inside Camtasia and use the Noise Removal in there.
@@GordIsman Thanks you. I am waiting for that video to show us your studio. I would appreciate if you include step by step procedure from recoding to the final publishable sound on youtube. Stay safe.
I noticed that the camtasia 2020 does not have full forward compatibility. I could not open some native text effects saved in 2019 library from camtasia 2020, and when I converted 2019 projects to 2020 such media converted pathetically. No clarification from techsmith so far.
Ms Karoly, I'm sorry to hear that. I would contact TechSmith and see what you can find out. Try to get clarity on whether or not this is a bug that will be fixed, or that you will have to find a workaround, or re-create.
Thanks for the response Gord. It would be a pity if a software does not have forward compatibility (even if it doesn’t have backward compatibility). It would be a chore if you can’t open your old projects in the new version of the software reliably. I hope TechSmith find a solution for this and also end up with a configuration with having no need to convert the old projects to new format with each new version release.
how about finally adding reversing frames options like all other video editor do?
I know this feature has been requested. As to what when the add in something like this, I don't know, but I do know it's been requested. Let's hope it comes in a near-future release :)
@@GordIsman Thank you
Hi Gord love your videos. 9K, keep up the good work. Hey question, when I separate my audio from video track that has green screen. I lose all the video color replace settings. When I join the audio and video again, after fixing the audio, I have to go back in and add all my green screen values again. Any ideas?
Hi Chris. I just tested this and don't get the same result. I first add the "Remove A Color" visual effect to my clip that has green screen in the recording. Next, I tune the parameters by removing the color, and then I "Separate Audio and VIdeo" to get two tracks from the one media. The Video track still has the effect there, and the values I set are intact. Question - I am using Camtasia 2020, what version are you using? You should not have this problem. If you create it again - record your steps to show me, and then share a link of the timeline and properties changes for me to look at - and share the link with me Facebook Messenger, I'll take another look.
@@GordIsman hi Gord, I’m using 2020 Mac... hmmm
@@GordIsman Hi Gord, I uploaded a video, while doing it I think maybe it has to do with the audio is not native to the video clip. The audio was recorded separately. Have a look. ua-cam.com/video/A0R3njRlGNU/v-deo.html
I'm worried about the software being to complicated for a newbie. I found some old video and some some pictures content and the want to quickly chop and use for social media and other platforms but I need some very easy and user friendly. Can anyone help me? Does any one have a coupon code as well?
Hey Tony, if you click on the link I have in the Video Description, it will take you to the TechSmith Product page. On that page, look for Camtasia and click on "Learn More". This will bring you to a page to get access to a FREE trial! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. Camtasia is one of the easier products in the marketplace to learn to use. It largely depends on what your production goals are and how much you want to do with your video creating.
How did you create the table of contents so it takes you to different sections of the video?
Hi Jim. If you look at the Video description detail, you'll see time code references. If you enter in that format, in your video description, UA-cam will automatically generate links to the appropriate times/chapters. It's a great feature!
@@GordIsman Thanks, but I'm guessing you can't do that unless you post it to youtube?
That's correct. This feature is designed for UA-cam.
OMG, detaching the timeline is huge!
Yes, and with 2 monitors, my older eyes can see things so much bigger!
@@GordIsman Hey Gord, try this. Separate the timeline then try to drop in a image into it. See what happens. Does it work for you?
Hi Scott, I did it and had no issues. I first did it with the timeline still in first monitor, and then did it with using a second monitor. What issue are you having?
@@GordIsman Hmmmm. I thought I found a glitch but I guess it's just me.
You know how to put reverb in the audio?
Unfortunately, in the area of audio effects, Camtasia is lacking. Hopefully there will be more audio effects in the future. If I want to enhance things, I will often bring in sound effects, or doing some external editing to the audio in Adobe Audition or Audacity. Good luck
@@GordIsman Thanks
No news about an equation editor in Camtasia? It would be extremely helpful for educators
No, I have not heard of such a feature in this release, but it does sound interesting! Can you tell me more about how you see something like that working?
@@GordIsman I use Camtasia for teaching math, finance, accounting, and engineering economics. Many educators in the world are in my same situation; they use callouts to highlight things, to explain, to illustrate, to give further details, to propose exercises to students or to ask them questions for stimulating their reasoning. Therefore, the educators need to write fractions, superscritps, subscripts, math symbols, etc. To write something like y^’’_t= y^’_(t-1) *[(ln(t)*t^2/sin(t)] is extremely awkward (sometimes educatorsalso need to correct some errors made during the recording, which would be easily corrected if an equation editor was available)
. That would indeed be a major innovation in Camtasia and would boost its use among educators in various disciplines: mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, economics, finance, and any field where math symbols are used.
By the way, I forgot to tell you that your tutorials for Camtasia are outstanding! Sufficiently slow to be well understood and with the use of a quiet, low-volume voice. Excellent!

Does it cost?
Yes. I have a link in the video description if you wish to check out pricing. Also, through that link you should be able to find a trial offer as well.
2021 is now out!!! :)))))
Yes it is! I did a review when it came out. If you want to see the features with demos, you can look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/Iu20ZMA2IaQ/v-deo.html
Disappointed that they still haven't improved keying/ chromakey and sound editing capabilities.
One improvement was made with the sound - you can speed up a clip and the voice pitch doesn't change. No more chipmunk voice! Yes, it would be nice to have more granular control for Chromakey and sound editing. Did you know that you can put forth change suggestions in the TechSmith Community?
Gordo!!! I guess the price for the camtasia upgrade from 8.6 to 2020 is around 90 - 100 bucks no matter where I go ... I will be getting this through your affiliate link as you have been on the spot with the help ... tf that means? So, I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before I start dropping dime and then have to backtrack and waste time / money ...
I don't see an eye dropper to change the background in 8.6 ..?
I understand to change the background I need to first record the subject in front of a green screen. Currently we want to superimposed an image of dimly lit dark blue theater seats behind myself and then a co - presenter.
This is commercial use so we want pro level.
I can drop 1000 dollars if a good camera, green screen and lights / stands will make it work.
I realize the green screen should be lighted independently of the subject which should have key, filler and hair lighting.
Can you recommend a good "package" to do this?
There are so many light / camera types and options out here ...
I guess I need lights for the green screen as well as for the subject. Soft light or LED?
I currently have a blue yeti mic. and a Logitech webcam (920?)
Hey Freedom WatchDog, I can help give you some guidance to get you going. You can connect with me for a 30 min FREE discovery call: bookme.name/gordisman/lite/30minfree .
CLEMedicareDOTcom is my other ytube channel ... I don't know what I am doing with this stuff ... I sent you a comment asking about my wavy webcam recording ..? The outline of my image turns sharply wavy. What am I doing wrong?
Haven't forgotten about you the 2020 upgrade ... i have 8.6 ... about 40 secs. into this first 2 min. vid ... i want to move my image to the right so that I can add bullet point text on the left ... how Gordo? And happy July 4th. America is the best. Vote or please leave. Thx.
Search the words "bullet points" on my channel and you will find two videos where I show a few examples.
@@GordIsman Think I got it ... looks like this 8.6 feature has changed on newer version?
Someone should write an app to page the Camtasia user when their screen recording is done. Movovi has a schedule timer so users set the recording time and don't have to babysit their software.
I've thought about that many times. I just use a basic timer on my phone and approximate a time to check. That said, even if you miss the mark, you can always trim back your recording pretty quickly. But I agree, nobody wants to babysit a recording.
@@GordIsman, agreed. I use Movavi and their scheduler. Camtasia isn't keeping up with this nice little feature. Movavi lets the user set the length of screen capture time, or even set start/stop times. It's frustrating to settle for less with Camtasia. Maybe someday they will run out of other tweaks and add this feature.
@@larrymaloney877, I wanted this feature on Snagit. I use Snagit a lot of screen captures for videos I don't intend to edit but just use for research consumption. Do you use Snagit?
@@GordIsman, I purchased Snagit not understanding its purpose. Techsmith convinced me it "supplements" Camtasia. But I can screen capture with Camtasia, too. Neither has a Movovi-type timer to stop recording, and Snagit is too-often hard to "find" after I open the video I want to capture, so I end up switching to movavi, or Camtasia if it's a short video. I sit and wait for the recording to finish. Snagit disappears and I can't open the taskbar to restart without first minimizing my video screen setup. And sometimes the settings change after maximizing, again. Lots of little issues to battle with. It's rich with features but not intuitive, the original premise for Window's applications. I need a video, or two, showing how Snagit & Camtasia integrate with each other. Techsmith isn't very sharing on the purpose of each application - I had to buy both to learn the difference. I guess that's their idea of marketing.
@@larrymaloney877, I'm not sure if you saw this video or not, but it might be helpful for you to see the positioning of Camtasia vs. Snagit: ua-cam.com/video/Nw7R2LADlIM/v-deo.html . Also, did you know that Snagit video recorded can easily have the beginning or end trimmed so, even though you don't have a timer, you can easily "cut" the excess off, right inside Snagit, before you save it, and so, you don't need a video editor to get a clean finish.
I Hope now i can finally use my DSLR with my Camlink to record my facecam
I don't have my DSLR setup with capture card yet. That said, I confirmed with a fellow youtuber who does use his DSLR with a capture card and it's accessible for the screen recordings camera input.
