Talking head in circle with shadow in Camtasia 2020 | Camtasia Circular Video Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- Adding a round (or another shape) talking head on Camtasia is now possible in Camtasia 2020, using Alpha/Alpha Invert. This tutorial shows how you can add a shape on top of a video recording and then make it show a round shape/crop to obtain a circular video.
I also show how you can add a drop shadow to this talking head and also how to make sure that the talking head, the shape and the shadow moves together as one when you need to, by grouping it.
This effect only works in Camtasia 2020 or newer.

Well, thanks. It was an old video. Here is a newer and better version: Talking Head 2.0 Effect in Camtasia | Two ways to create video in a circle

I wish I could update this 50 times!!!! Thank you!!
New subscriber now.
Thanks for subbing! Glad it helps. Here's an updated and more interesting version: ua-cam.com/video/F4WYLiVMRFU/v-deo.html
Great tutorial, Cristian! Thank you for sharing. :) Let us know if you have any feeedback or questions about Camtasia!
Thanks! I did have a question: How is it possible to get into the beta testers program for Camtasia? I think you have this. I'd be happy to test, provide feedback for and make videos of upcoming features!
@@Graphicious Hi Cristian, you can send us an email to evangelists (at) techsmith.com and we'll get back to you with more information. Leave lots of context and information in your email as it's different people who read the emails as who check our social media accounts (sometimes).
You have saved me many hours of work. My system was just updated to 2020 this morning and I wanted to use this feature in a virtual choir. The 2019 version would have been so much more difficult and time consuming.
Glad I could help, thanks for watching! Yes, 2019 doesn't support alpha/track mattes. This feature opens up a lot of new possibilities in Camtasia.
I am currently looking for new video ideas around Camtasia so please feel free to let me know if you'd be interested in learning other things or features!
@@Graphicious How is the Alpha different from the Luminosity in Track Mattes?
@@TheTinawade Hi Tina, the ALPHA determines whether the information on the track below is VISIBLE or NOT, through the pixels that are on the track. But LUMINOSITY also applies a brightness from white to black, and this determines HOW visible the information is, not just whether it is visible or not. So you can achieve some shading there, different degrees of visibility, with the Luminosity. I hope this helps.
This will really help me in my UA-cam videos. Thanks 👍
Glad to hear that! Thank you for your feedback.
Excellent. Thx Cristi.
Thank you
Thanks for sharing useful information for us.
My pleasure. Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Cristian. I really liked this effect when I saw it in other people's videos and now you have just helped me create my own. Thank you for posting this video.
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
Very useful, Thanks a lot
Glad it was helpful! If you have Camtasia 2021, check out this improved version: ua-cam.com/video/F4WYLiVMRFU/v-deo.html

Thanks Cristi
No problem.
Thank you, sir.
You're welcome
Thanks!! This helped me out tremendously!
Glad to hear it! If you are in Camtasia 2021, it's even easier. Instead of the Track Matte, you can use Media Matte on the circle and it will instantly hide everything underneath.
Thankyou so much!
You are welcome!
Very good, from India
Thank you
Great, huge help!
Thank you Camtasia master!
You're welcome! Check my recent IMPROVED version of this tutorial with a nicer effect: ua-cam.com/video/F4WYLiVMRFU/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for making this video, it was just what I was looking for.
You're very welcome!
Very cool! This is a great use of the Track Matte feature that is new in Camtasia 2020! Nice video!
Thanks! I have since learned more tricks about the track matte.
Well explained, easy to understand. Many thanks, most appreciated.
Glad you liked it. Thank you for watching and subscribing! I appreciate it.
goo stuff thanks for that appreciate it!
Any time! If you have Camtasia 2021, this effect is MUCH easier, using a round shape annotation and the Media Matte effect. I will probably do an updated video on that.
Brilliant!
Oh yes, it's totally useful.. for a long time I keen to know about this technique! thank you cristi brother✔
My pleasure!
Good work! Good explanation! Thank you so much for this video.

Good vid thanks....
No problem 👍
Excellent video. I subscribed to your channel. I will need to upgrade my copy to 2020 version.
Awesome, thank you!
*nice jobe. thank u sir*
You are welcome, glad you like it. This effect is easier in Camtasia 2021, if you have it, by applying a simple Media Matte effect to a circle on top of the video.
Awesome
Thank you very much. This was exactly what I needed!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Thanks so much. Is there way to at a border to the circle?
You can add another circle behind and make it larger. You can then change its color to make it look like a border. You can’t add a border to the circle you used as a mask because it behaves like a mask so no matter what color you give it, it won’t show.
@@Graphicious thank you very much. Great video … subscribed!
omgggggg i love you hahahaha
Thanks for watching
Graphicious very useful tip. I’ve tried to find this option for years. I used to do a greenscreen circle, then render the facecam with that. Then remove the greenscreen and rerender. Pain in the butt
Thanks, this is very helpful. After grouping them, for me clicking the "Alpha invert" did not bring back the talking head.
In fact, what you need to do is select ‘none’ on the top layer. Camtasia makes a copy of that layer inside the group, and leaves the layer with the alpha on. That’s why it hides it, but if you select ‘none’, it removes it and leaves the effect working correctly with the stuff in the group.
Glad it helped! I hope you managed to get it working.
How to convert this into a preset for a lot of footage
Thank you! How do I add a color circle frame around this talking head circle?
You can add a border around it using circle annotation and place it on a track below the group where you have your talking head. Make a copy of the circle you've used as the alpha mask. Then, give it a thick border and keep it in the same place but outside the group. It should show a nice border around it. You can then group this along with the other talking-head group to keep them all together.
You save my day! Congrats! \o/ \o/ \o/
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Very good men 🖒
Thanks ✌
Great video, but when I added the drap shadow suddenly my audio was un-synched? WHY
Thanks Lisa! That's a weird one, never seen that before. Is your audio on a separate track or is it part of the video track? Maybe your machine is lower spec and it's having trouble playing clips with alpha + transparency and audio at the same time? Is the audio out of sync even if you export the video?
@@Graphicious Thank you for replying! The audio is still out when I make it a mp4. I teach at Kent State University and it was working much better last semester. I have a macbook pro, 2013, 8 gigs of memory, and an iris 1536 graphics card. I am just an adjunct, and make very little money, do I need to get a new computer?
@@Graphicious first the audio and vid. were on the same then I made them on different tracks, same, same
I honestly cannot think of one reason why that might happen. If you take away the drop shadow and just leave the masking on, does it still fall behind?
Dont work in "2019.0.7 (Build 5034) - Aug 22 2019 (64-bit)"? Thanks 🇧🇷
No, I’m afraid the track matte function was introduced in Camtasia 2020
Can you tell me how to remove the circle and shadow from my webcam view? My program has added this feature somehow and I would like to go back to a regular square webcam view.
What program are you using to record? Camtasia doesn't add frames or effects around the webcam during the recording phase.
@@Graphicious I am using Camtasia and it did add it, I have no idea how
What version?
This is not working on Camtasia 2021! After grouping the shape and the face video, opening the group and right click on the top layer and choosing Alpha invert, makes the effect disappear. What is wrong?!
In 2021 there is a much simpler way to achieve this effect using the Media Matte effect. Put a circle on the track above your video, apply the Media Matte effect on it. Done!
@@Graphicious Thanks! Media Matte works perfectly.
Is the program free and does it contain ready-made filters?
No, it's not free, but you can download it and test it for free, and even export, but your exports will have a watermark on them until you buy the full version. It does come with pre-made effects and filters.
@@Graphicious
Thanks for the clarification
How can I make a colored circle line around it ?
You can add a slightly larger circle behind it and give it a different color, like I show in this video: ua-cam.com/video/F4WYLiVMRFU/v-deo.html
@@Graphicious Thanks for your reply about this - appreciate it ... camtasia 22 is really a game changer.
Would you please tell me how to create this round with shadow in Camtasia 2019 ?
Hello. I'm afraid it is NOT possible to achieve this in Camtasia 2019. It only works in 2020, since they added Alpha Track Mattes.
@@Graphicious Can you please tell me where and how to get Camtasia 2020?
There is a link in the description of this video to download the free trial version of Camtasia 2020. It has full functionality so you can work and test with it. Then when you are ready to export from it, you can buy it.
