I got my 300 Rally less than a month ago and absolutely love it to bits already. I've been riding about 40 years and have had a lot of different bikes over the decades. As I've gotten older I've realised that speeding to get somewhere is having to miss all the stuff along the way. The 300 will allow me to tootle around whilst looking over hedges and ditches and its light weight means that narrow lanes with grass in the middle don't scare me any more. I can't wait for next year when i get to go to the Outer Hebridies and some of the other Inner Isles. If only Honda had grown a pair and made a 450 version.

Just found your channel, got really lucky myself and bought a 23 a few months ago. 600 ish miles ( changed oil to synthetic at 490) and absolutely love the bike. Suspension is indeed a joke, I’m 6’1 and 210 butt naked. General cruise it’s not an issue, but hit an overpass at 55 and you realize this sh$& ain’t right! Old school xr guy, still own a couple and Honda all the way, but I’m definitely going to spend the coin on suspension. Really think this bike is something anyone can afford, and with a little bit more investment it really is something special. Ride within your means and your talent and you’ll often find less is more!

I would like to comment I am seriously looking at the new CRF300LS the gray and orange graphics .
With the same upgrades you have .
I also am close to Ottawa .
My purchase this year was the new to North America
XR150L . I currently have 2000klms . An other than little lack of power the XR150L $5300 plated out the door is the value bike of the year .
    + bikes are . 2010 GL1800 .
    2001 GL1800 , 2022 NAVI
    2023 XR150L.

I just sold my 450L too. I'm replacing it with a Kove 450 Rally, which should arrive next week. I chose it over the 300L Rally because of the extra HPs and the larger gas tanks (8 gallons). It should be the perfect BDR bike with good suspension. The downsides - will it have Honda reliability and can I get parts for it going forward?

The Koves are really interesting! In Canada the only dealer is in Alberta which is very, very far from me (and registering vehicles from out of province is a big PITA) so I didn't really consider it. But I'm watching that bike closely because in a few years, you never know!

I was just thinking about doing the same thing. I have a 2021 crf450rl and I've owned it for about a year and the honeymoon has definitely settled. A local dealer has a crf300 and 300 rally. I was thinking about getting a rally but I already have a africa twin.

Hmm tough one. If you're already using the Africa Twin for longer travel you'd have to kinda consider what kind of rides you'd wanna do on a rally. If you were using that 450 for more technical / enduro stuff, I dunno if the rally would be a great replacement considering the super soft suspension and all that breakable plastic.

@@chantdeguerre Thank you for the advice. I think what I dislike about the 450 is that it's a high performance dirt bike and I've never been into racing enduro or mx. the power comes in handy on the road but everything else kinda sucks in terms of comfort and usability. maybe I should just keep it and run it but it's definitely not on my favorite motorcycle list anymore.
