    I have the same mods as you have except for the handlebar. I have long arms so a low handlebar doesn´t bother me that much. It´s indeed a bike that makes you smile. The K-tech suspension turns it into a really good bike as you say.

      Awesome! I wanted a CRF300L over all the other dual sports out there.

    I'm still under 500 miles🤣 I put 23 miles on it last weekend. Video on the way! I like the stock suspension for my riding style. It rides smoother than my suv.

      I didn't change anything on the bike until I had over 1,000 miles on it. I wasn't sure and never change anything until I am 100% certain I want to. Jumping into mods can be a big mistake. It could end up worse than stock. Everyone rides different and wants a different kind of riding experience. Adjusting the preload on the stock shock made me happy with the handling for a long time.

      @@erichalitsky1285I’m 56, my back was bothering me and I fell over at a stop sign on a hill. (I’m also on my tip toes when I put my feet down)
      I don’t know what was more embarrassing, falling over or that I could barely pick the bike up?
      A year of chemotherapy must have taken more out of me than just the ass cancer and my dignity.
      So I’m gonna try not to stop anymore when I’m out riding. At least until a get some strength back.

    My next ride is a little overdue because of the Texas heat. I’m definitely going to fit it in before August 1st.

      It rains up here in WA most of the year and never gets too hot. I'm getting as many rides in as I can before it starts raining again every day. Lol. I've thought about moving to Texas or Arizona. I'll bet you get a lot more descent riding days per year down there.

      I have to admit that the weather in the mornings and evenings are nice even on our hottest days. I probably need to fill a backpack full of ice packs and water.

    • @walterconn5637
      @walterconn5637 Рік тому

      I went for my ride this morning. I was gone an hour and a half. I can’t complain about the weather. The temp was in the 80’s.
      I was pretty low on gas, but the fuel gauge still had a black bar left when I finished.
      The limiting factor for me today was the seat. I wonder how long my rides would be if I had a seat concepts?
      As a new-ish rider, I am happy with the crf300. I have had it for one year now.

      @@walterconn5637 Awesome bike. The best IMO. You sound like me. I start riding and can't stop! It didn't take long for me to realize that the strap on the seat HAD TO GO! I removed it and now I can move about the seat as I ride. I like to sit as far forward as I can most of the time, but on long rides I will sometimes slide back where the seat is wider to stretch out a bit for a while. Right where the strap used to be. I personally don't care for the look of aftermarket seats and don't need one.
      I don't go by the fuel gauge too much and like the "gallons used" feature on the dash. I like to keep an eye on the odometer too. The fuel gauge can show only one or two bars left and I still have half a tank of gas! I tried to run it out of gas one day to see how far I could go. I carried a small bottle of gas in my backpack to get me home but couldn't run out and got tired of riding after 137 miles, and never ran out. The fuel gauge had indicated long ago that I was completely out, but I wasn't. It was even flashing red for a long time, but I still didn't run out. The gallons used seemed to be spot on.

    I’m looking for my second set of tires for the 300l, do you think the Pirellis are an upgrade from stock? And are they the same size or did you go bigger? Thanks

    • @cyclerider5652
      @cyclerider5652  11 місяців тому +2

      I think the Pirelli MT21's are a big upgrade from stock, especially for off roading. They do wear out faster than stock and are noisier on the street. I did put bigger tires on my 300L. You cannot get the front one in the stock size in an MT21. I like the bigger size. The front is a 90/90/21 which is only 1mm taller but 10mm wider than stock. The rear I use is a 120/90/18 which is the same width as stock but 12mm taller. Many people use this tire size combination. It's quite common to see on the 300L and works great. I get about 3,000 miles out of a set and replace them both at the same time.

    • @cyclerider5652

      The Pirelli MT21 is 90% off road 10% road. I'd try something less aggressive for mostly road riding.@@jamesgaffney7591

      Yes. I highly recommend it. It's a user friendly, forgiving machine that's easy to ride. Great gas milage and pretty capable off road for a dual sport. Not too heavy and not underpowered either. Just right. Love the 300L.

    I dropped my new bike using the kickstand on dirt.
    That sucked bad enough but then I really struggled to pick the bike up.
    Maybe I AM getting old????
    Naw…..I’m just a little out of shape due to chemotherapy last year plus it is a heavy bike.
    I’d like to reduce the weight but those Zeta guards look like they belong on the bike.

      I struggled too, it's a heavy bike! I agree the Zeta red handguards look like they belong on the bike. I had a really hard time finding the Zeta handguards in red. Spent hours looking and finally found them on Amazon. The part is listed in the description of this video link if you want to get some. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/xlPw7oxzbKw/v-deo.html

      @@johnmclaughlin4802 Thank you. I do eat healthy and love to work out. I'm pretty fanatical about what I eat. I like chicken, fish, nuts/seeds, fresh fruits and vegetables. For desert dark chocolate chips with mixed nuts or fruit. I quit drinking alcohol and eating fast food 10 years ago. It made a huge difference. I'm 145 now and used to weigh 180 most of my adult life. I'm so glad I changed my diet. Everything is so much easier 35 Lbs lighter. I'm a better rider today than 30 years ago because of it.
