I honestly dont know, i have seen similar stuff on my notes but its mostly when doing a solo or a cadence ... Also: "Like an autumn river" is a tempo i've seen which is pretty fun
I remember hearing him speaking with other players in the band on break when he was playing lead with Buddy Rich, that he was considering taking a symphonic audition soon.
Fun story, my father put that concert on as a tribute to Maynard who he was friends with and managed the last couple years of his life. I couldn't make it thanks to being in college.
@retrospy honestly I don't blame you or anyone else for thinking that 😂 It wasnt at this event thats for sure! Mr Miyashiro was a special guest at our Jazz concert where I went to high school, and we played Gonna Fly Now as our finale piece when the event was over and Miyashiro played beautifully as per usual. The special occasion was a Jazz competition amongst West Texas and New Mexico schools. Not only was Eric there with us, but also Jeff Coffin and Marko Djordjevic! It was the best senior gift I could ask for.
Was at that concert. There were dozens of other trumpeters at least that good there, paying tribute to the one whom none of them will ever be nearly as iconic as - the great Maynard Ferguson
I’ll never forget trying to blow a trumpet in 6th grade and I cannot tell you how difficult it is to purse your lips properly on top of running out of breath while feverishly blowing to get even one note. Trumpet players are awesome.
starting at measure 27, the chords at the end are a bunch of maj7 chords over their third, with a really dissonant m2 interval between the maj7 and the root. In order of root notes for the maj7 chords, it goes B Bb Ab F Ab Bb C for the first segment. Then it continues C B Bb Ab F Eb C B Bb Ab. So overall it's a constant structure of maj7 first inversion with the tonal center being steps of the F blues scale. Very cool, I'm not sure if I've ever seen that before.
The final cadence is first F#m7/E Dmaj7/A A/C#, which is a surprising jump to very tonal A from F blues Then we have something like G#+maj7#11 F#+maj7#11 (or G6sus4/Ab F6sus4/Gb??) into a Cmaj9sus4/F. Crazy cadence which goes back to being very atonal.
I used to play trumpet in high school; my lips would be so numb if I attempted that. The secret to playing high notes: tight lips and lots of air simply put.
I am a fan of Eric and love him playing in the Maynard style any other time and place but here. This was said to be a band on MF alumni and Eric never was in the band. He sounded great though.
I'd love to see a behind the scenes video of how you do the music notation from just a video and produce these excellent bits of gold that keep on appearing in my suggested videos! You are an absolute genius man!
I mean now I work with other people to produce the transcriptions just because I have a bunch of other projects and university to work on. I spend more time finding videos and editing them than transcribing. Typical workflow is find video, probe titles for said video, commission transcription, review transcription for corrections, edit video, and share with the world!
i'm not a musician, but is that a legit way to write sheet music ToT

There are no wrong notations - Jacob Collier, probably
@@GeorgeCollier actually I think adam neely literally said that.... if not it was basically one of the conclusions in some vid he has somewhere
I mean there isn’t a solid way to correctly write that so ig yea it is
If u mean the squiggly, yup. It's called an "undulating glissando" in Gould's Behind Bars (p. 146).
As gravity, I can confirm that I was severely defied by this solo.
Lol😂
Underrated comment
@@raymondwhiting6267 That's what me mummy always told me, thank you.
Defiled as well
@@peterbarnes3121 Ah yes, how could I forget?
In one solo he proves that, not only can he play fast and articulate, but that he can handle sustained notes.
I went to college with Eric. He was as well rounded a brass player as you will ever meet in every respect. Legit.
I remember hearing him speaking with other players in the band on break when he was playing lead with Buddy Rich, that he was considering taking a symphonic audition soon.

Was there. Fantastic tribute.
I was there as well. Great tribute.
You should have quit college
I am grateful to have been given the chance to perform with Eric Miyashiro. Great guy!
liar

Well never heard of him, guessing more recent than early 2000’s. Certainly can play fast and clear.
Ah yes, Trombone Champ notation.
Loved the wiggly line transcription!
Fun Fact: Eric Miyashiro was the trumpet player on Rainbow Road for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
He was lead trumpet on the whole soundtrack in fact! Listen to the Mario Kart 8 credits music and you can hear him right at the end
Yeah, Eric Miyashiro is to Nintendo what Michael Giacchino is to Disney

Wait until he sees a flute
And trumpets are the smallest brass instrument, requiring the least amount of air.
@@capn7298 What do you play?
@@derth9230 trumpet

My old band teacher from middle school introduced me to this song and ive loved it ever since. Rip mr peters.
this concert was a gem. never wouldve known about em if it wasnt for me seeing the gonna fly performance on youtube
absolutely amazing! Your skills and the performers skills are incredibly!
I like Eric Miyashiro the most, he have such a clean, smooth tone...
I'd have an aneurysm if I tried to play this. Half these notes are like a full octave higher than I've ever been able to hit lol
I played the trumpet for 4 years in high school, this person is awesome
soloist: dude this is the weirdest bowling team i ever joined
Insane hitting those notes!
Wow that haircut is on par with the trumpet skills... What a legend

he's so good he throws his trumpet after each note lmao
insanely good intonation
Amazing at the end when miyashiro hits the high G with only one hand on the trumpet while signaling the band. Great player!
Lupin III vibes.
as a band kid holy cow the breath control-
Getting some big time Maynard Ferguson vibes here and I _love_ it.
I used to play trumpet, and I can confirm that this mans cheeks and lips were on fire during this whole solo.
That's amazing. I could never
I used to play trumpet in high school; my lips would be so numb if I attempted that. The secret to playing high notes: tight lips and lots of air simply put.
Tonal rollercoaster!
Whole life spent perfecting trumpet so that you can get it to sound like a kazoo 🙈
トランペッターならこの演奏と技術がいかにえげつない事か身をもって分かるはず……さすがエリックさん🎉
Go, Eric, go!
Had to pause to verify my playback speed wasn't at 1.5
Eric Miyashiro
I had the impression of hearing Arturo Sandoval in a multiverse where East is West 😂
What one bar feels like:
how can a trumpet defy gravi.. oh
Well, we're not going to walk away humming that one.
I'm a classical violinist and this looks so crazy to me 😂
Crazy
Eric Miyashiro. I look up to this guy as a trumpet player and a musician.
なるほど!楽譜提供ありがとうございます。
吹くんか⁉︎
吹くんか!?
That one-handed double G at the end is nuts
Drops trumpet, walks off-stage, never plays trumpet again.
That was bad ass.
Fandamtastic!!!!!!!!
0:36 - cool progression
and on trumpet... Mr. Miyagi... :D
Creating this piece is the musical equivilant of stapling a banana to a wall
Just wow💕
My bros lips is done for
Shit man that was crazy!!!!
The most beautiful squeaky toys I’ve ever heard.
That soli tho 😍
I love when trumpet players just go off like little talented mosquitoes
Bar 29, and of 3 = that was my "woo" lol sorry dvd/history, I was 17 years old in the 4th row in front of the band >.
As a trumpet player, my entire body hurt after listening to that
Director: ''lol he actually did it''
Eric Miyashiro on the trumpet!
Thought I was encountering a zubat at the beginning but this slaps
That one mosquito in my room while i'm trying to sleep:

my dad :
‘ITS FUGGIN FLOATING’
That base part at the end sounded 🔥
Looked like a whole entire heart monitor
Fire
I didn't know Mr. Miagi played trumpet too! Wax on, wax off!!!
Wow. Hope he doesn't hurt himself doing that. Amazing,,,. Lotsa practice to get there.
WHY DID HE LOOK SO HAPPY
BEHHHHHHHHH TO THE MAX!!!!!!!
Boss Moves.
i see the pain in their eyes
Bro I was wearing my AirPods while watching this and it gave me ASMR tingles
When the teacher isn’t looking:
I didn’t know trumpets could go that high
his feet were clearly planted firmly on the ground that entire time
I think Eric is very close to Maynard’s level.
I’m so sad I couldn’t make the tribute concert. He was a legend.
Eric ìß a better all around player than Ferguson
Show 👏👏

Mr. Miyagi 😱
Damn bobby lee is shredding

…Fuckin bloody-hell
yes, its just a special way
Mr. Myagi got it.
Dunno why but it felt like Lupin III met James Bond and they worked together to defeat some wacky villain
Sounds the the plastic trumpets that you would get at fairgrounds or on memorial day
Eric was one of Maynard's best lead players!
Eric played for Buddy Rich, not Maynard!
Nice try but wrong. Never played with Maynard unfortunately.
ハイトーン界では、世界のミヤシロですよ!!
I didn't realize this was sped up until I saw the other performers moving fast, this sounds like an opening for archer or cowboy bebop
Update: I had this sped up on X2 and didn't notice, that's why it was fast. Funny though
