- The clear lines and the beautiful retro design of the PrimaDonna Avant led me to restore one of the now rare machines. Although the model is only 12 years old, it reminds me of the design of the 60s and 70s. Since I'm a big fan of the bygone design era, the coffee machine is given a place of honor in my home. It is well known that where there is light there is also shadow. This saying also applies to this project. Premium prices are charged for the spare parts of the former flagship of the DeLonghi brand. Therefore this restoration has become my most expensive to date. What do you think if such devices should still be refurbished? Or is that just a waste of time and money? Please let me know what you think of this in the comments below!

Should refurbish them, because you can reduce e-waste, and older things sometimes are better construction.
Renowacja daje zapewne radosc z osiagnietego rezultatu. Napewno trzeba redukowac koszty, bo przy sprzedazy nie kazdy to docenia. Z tego wielkich pieniedzy nie ma, ale dla satysfakcji i pasji mimo to warto.
I just found one one the side of the road hardly been used found a little dirt and a cut power lead replaced and also found grinder assembly sized just ordered a new one works fine now. #RightToRepair
Refurb if you can buy OEM parts at a fair price.

myworks Przypomniałem sobie jeszcze, że miałem kiedyś taki przypadek, że nie działał w ESAM3200 przycisk i powodzem byłły skorodowane luty i tak sobie pomyślałem, że zrobiłeś błąd, że nie rozmontowałeś tego uszkodzonego front panelu - być może zebranie cyny i położenie nowej by załatwiło temat, bo po prostu cyna się zdegradowała ze starości i przestała przewodzić...
I don't think it is a waste of anything, you restore the machine with ambition, challenge and may be a bit of love. And you showed how you do it to us, which we enjoy greatly! that is no money can compare, right? In the end, the machine is a gem, it is so beautiful and now almost unique!
I'm not letting my ESAM 6600 die peacefully for years. 30k coffees and counting. Heater died, generator clogged, orings leaked, pump leaked and died with some transistors, grinder clogged... I fixed every problem. I think these machines are quite repairable once you figure out how do they work. Also fixing them is quite fun. Great video BTW. I would kill a teardown video like this years ago. Instead, I took countless photos before disassembling :)
anyidea where to start with esam 6600 not giving milk ? it spits it from time to time with a lot of steam, I have changed the plastic valve that the milk jug connects to, changed the milk jug, descaled it and no joy.
maybe one of the solenoid valves is broken!?

Well done. Again and again the same problems with the Delonghis. But I think it's always worth repairing them. Also because of the sustainability. And it's not really difficult either. And almost all of them have spare parts. But you have to make sure that the Delonghi code on the control panels is the same.
Restoration videos is a great way of showing people how to fix there own machines... I have just tried fixing my Delonghi Eletta 44.660, problem with it is the milk is only being sucked up to the lower third of the tube.. I replaced what seems a common fix on youtube videos with a replacement giraffe and would not be able to have tried that without video's like yours. Biggest thing I have found watching around 30 plus video's is how similar the guts inside each Delonghi machine is so you don't necessarily have to take info from your machine. Anyway onto trying to find another solution for me. cheers on the hard work you put into your video's.
The silica bags should be under the cover, where the PCB is.
I believe that silicon grease should be applied to the whole plastic parts including the whole piston, especially on used machines.
I have 6700. It's beautiful. I've spent 120USD and replaced all the critical stuff in it with a new parts. I bought it for 250USD. I will consider upgrading the pump later, thank you for this info.

Ein klasse Video.
Habe selber eine ESAM 6700 EX3 und werde mich da nun auch mal ans restaurieren und reinigen machen.
Aber so eine ungepflegte und versiffte Maschine habe ich zum Glück nicht.
Da muss man ja Angst haben sich irgendwas einzufangen wenn man aus der Maschine einen Kaffee trinkt.
Falls man das überhaupt noch Kaffee nennen konnte.
Habe bis jetzt meine Leistungsplatine erneuert und Kleinigkeiten wie Wasserpumpe und Brühgruppe erneuert.
Gegenüber dier Maschine ist meine ja wie neu.
Das mit den Entfeuchtern hinterm Display ist eine klasse Idee. So kann man sich evtl. 100 - 200 € für ein Display erspahren wenn es Pixelfehler aufgrund des Wasserdampfes bekommt.
Aber werde sie nun auch nach und nach überholen und intensiv reinigen.
Ein klasse Reinier soll der Coffee Clean Ultra von Ceragol sein wo auch Kaffeeöl entfernt.
Einfach eine Klasse Maschine wo leckeren Kaffee macht die ESAM 6700.
Good job! I recently repaired my espresso machine, a magnifica delonghi fast cappuccino, the interior is the same, they only changed the control panel. the gaskets were not properly placed at the connection with the boiler, the spacer must be in the middle of them.
@johnny nutu I'm glad you liked my video. Do you mean the spacer in min. 18:14? I have to check that out. Hm .. in newer models from Delonghi there are the two seals in one piece, that would mean that they have to be together ?!
At mine the gaskets were mounted on either side of the spacer and there were no leaks.
Hi great video and great job. I have the same machine and have been using it for years, but problems have started to appear and I am thinking of leaving it in reserve. Can you advise me how I can conservate it properly?
@Asen Filev hi, what problems do you have? There are essentially three main points about Delonghi coffee machines that I always revise first. The transsmision, the upper brewing piston and the brewing unit. All parts of these components should be cleaned, greased, and all seals replaced. You can also repair or replace the water pump.
@@yt.myworks Thanks for the fast answer. The problems are many and I guess the machine needs repair, like the one in your video. Some time ago I changed the infuser, ordered a new one from ebay, thinking that there were problems, but it turned out that there were others. The piston tightened constantly, I changed the rings and after a week of work started again with these problems. I guess the problem is complete and I decided to take a new one and leave this one as a reserve, because I'm addicted to good coffee. I'm cleaning it right now and I'm thinking of putting it somewhere. I wonder if it doesn't work for a long time if there won't be a problem.
It definitely won't break if it's not used for a long time. However, you should make sure that the machine is not exposed to frost.

When you open the switch do you hear the water pump? Any noises?
@@yt.myworks Since I started the descaling procedure the machine is completely silent. Before, the hot water and milk function did not work but the coffee function did.
I am not sure if I have a problem with this machine or not, but I am sure that it will be fine. Is it possible to test it or to find its Ohmic value?
If not, there is still the sensor and/or the micro-contactors of the milk jug and finally the motherboard.
@@florionxxx1541 I haven't repaired this model yet but there is usually a micro switch on the water spout/milk frother that should be checked. Didn't the hot water function work before?
@@yt.myworks The "hot water" function has not worked for a while. Unfortunately, I don't think I should have started the descaling process because it blocked the coffee maker. I will test the microswitch and replace the 3-Way Solenoid Pilot Valve. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer me.
good restoration 👍🏼 and Hello, I have the same model of coffee machine and it does not wilt completely while making coffee. It can fill the cup halfway with coffee and the water tank at the bottom is filled with excessive water. What is the reason for this?
Hello, it is very likely that the brew piston 7:15 is leaking and should be repaired or replaced.
Thank you for the information. I previously opened the brewing piston completely, cleaned the inside, changed a couple of gaskets and put it on again, the result was the same, it did not change at all, then I wanted to send you a message.
You have to check where the water comes from. To do this, you have to make the coffee without the grounds container (you have to trick the microswitch) so can you better see where the water is coming out.
@@yt.myworks During coffee making time, waste water fills into the cabin from under the clean water tank.
Was the thermal block from esam 2009 restorable, consider leaking from inside and corrosion all over the place, that's a lot of works.

Witaj! Chciałbym zaczerpnąć opinii odnośnie chromowanych elementów. Taka podstawka na filiżankę, czy pomalowanie jej farba chromowana w spreyu, daje dobry efekt? Masz z tym precedensem 🙃 doświadczenie? Dzieki
Raczej nie polecał bym takiej metody. Te spraye w chromie nie wyglądają tak jak na opisie, są raczej szare i farba szybko sie ściera. Jak już to ewentualnie malowanie proszkowe lub polerka.
I went trough similiar proccess with my 6700ex2. The only problem i have with this machine is that it dosnt have water softner housing in water tank. Fortunatelly 6750 water tank has it and should be plug&play.
I am afraid that the water tank will not fit because the connection on the new housing is different :-(

@@yt.myworks pffff! All the time, when is turning on, when start the grinding process, the pumping out the water too and when is turning off ... I thought that I need to put some sort of grease/fat between the heart and the plastic infront of the motor (like light cream yellowish plastic) but after watching your video, I am not sure any more, cause you did not put any oil or something between those parts

@Piotr hm.. tam nie było plastiku, jedynie stwardniały smar. Po oczyszczeniu była czarna część w całości. Przynajmniej nie zauważyłem braków. Muszę przy okazji sprawdzić. Narazie maszynka chodzi picobello ;-)

Whats a good way to contact you? I have two of these machines similar to the video but cant seem to get the top panel off to swap the heating element. Niestety nie, kiedyś próbowałem polerować ale bez skutku. Powierzchnie są szczotkowane i na koniec chyba lakierowane.
@@yt.myworks Kurcze, liczyłem że udało Ci się jakoś to zniwelować. Saeco/Philips faktycznie jest lakierowany na koniec, Delonghi ma wyczuwalną pod palcem chropowatość więc nie jestem pewien czy jest lakierowany, Na allegro idzie kupić specialne szczotki do szczotkowania/satynowania stali które nakłada się na szlifierkę, może to jest jakieś wyjście.
Okay, daj proszę znać jak uda ci się znaleźć jakieś patent na ten problem 👍
@@yt.myworks A więc, na próbę wziąłem pokrywkę zbiornika na kawę primadonny xs. Była kompletnie porysowana. W pierwszej kolejności użyłem włókniny mirka 1500 a następnie przeszlifowałem całą pokrywkę plerką z papierkiem na mokro 2500 a później użyłem pasty do polerowania (którą miałem do polerki proxxon) i na koniec pastą finish, padem z filcu, oczywiście w między czasie ipa do zmycia poprzedniej pasty. Efekt baardzo zadawalający, w zasadzie pod normalnym światłem nie widać rys.

ciągnie się jednostajnie jak śruba nie idzie...W tym momencie trzeba pulsacyjnie naciskać i odpuszczać i ona wtedy powoli zacznie odpuszczać - chyba że na gwincie już bryłka rdzy się zrobiła i zasklepiło na amen. Ja wczoraj przerabiałem to samo, bo jak na złość po serwisie napędu, później zwróciłem uwagę, że tłokiem ulatuje para jak włączam spieniacz. Ja akurat byłem tak zdeterminowany, że uparłem się i szmatę odkręciłem. U mnie było jak pod spód podejść przez rurkę WD40, więc zacząłem to podlewać i po jakiejś godzinie napieprzenia młotkiem, podgrzewania i szarpania żabą i kombinerkami udało mi się ją poluzować. Następnym razem zobacz czy daje się dokręcić, czyli dokręć ją i spróbuj poluzować. Jeżeli pójdzie to kilogramowy młotek i trzeba porządnie naparzać do skutku i w końcu puści próbując przez żabę rozruszać ją dokręcać i odkręcają ile się da - bez sensu potem to rozwiercać i gwintować, czy robić bydło i skręcać na jedną śrubkę, moim zdaniem... Ja właśnie tak robiłem, że uderzałem po 20 razy młotkiem, podgrzewałem, i wtedy próbowałem w ten sposób, że z czuciem starałem się ją pociągnąć dalej, cofałem dokręcając do oporu i znowu odkręcałem i tą techniką zauważyłem, że coraz lżej się obraca i w końcu się poddała.. Ja osobiście się nie poddałem, ponieważ miałem taki przypadek, gdzie śruba się zapiekła i WD40 i dość spora grzechotka nie dały rady. Tata to wrzucił do nafty, pomoczył tydzień, zawiózł do swojego kolegi, który ma warsztat ślusarki, przywalił paręnaście razy młotkiem i się odkręciło. Sam powiedział, że nafta czy WD40 jak nie pomaga to trzeba ciężkim młotkiem porządnie pierdolnać parę-paręnaście razy i w zdecydowanie ilości wypadków to pomaga... Ja sam nie jedną zaciągniętą śrubkę w ten sposób odkręciłem. Już chciałem przewiercać, ale pomyślałem o młotku, przywaliłem porządnie 5 razy i tak mocno się obluzowała, że jakbym miał jak złapać to bym palcami wykręcił bez używania siły...
@Piotr nie chciałem użyć mlotka bo części są z aluminium i mogą pęknąć. Poza tym miałem jeszcze zapas w lepszym stanie z drugiej maszyny. Spróbuje ten bojler jeszcze kiedyś naprawić. Myślę że powinno się udać.

I have a DeLonghi Prima Donna. When it goes through the cycle very little or no water is being pushed through the coffee disc to the spout. Occasionally it pushes a tiny slow amount but makes a lot of noise. When the coffee disc is discharged into to coffee grounds container it is dry and breaks into ground coffee. What’s the issue and where do I start?
First, you need to check the grind setting to make sure the coffee powder isn't ground too finely. I made another video on this topic (min. 8:26): ua-cam.com/video/Dk8_id4x7E4/v-deo.html. In the next step I would check the water pump: ua-cam.com/video/9p65d-Mrnwc/v-deo.html.
Turns out it was the pump. Bought a new one on Amazon £18 and thanks to your video I replaced it myself. Can only imagine what De Longhi would have charged. Thank you

It depends on how old and worn out the machine is and whether the display is still ok. But I think a maximum of €150 is okay.
Hello!Vor paar Wochen hat sich meine Delonghi ECAm 22.320 wieder mit einen Knall verabschiedet, und mein Versuch die Elektronik zu reparieren - was vor 3 Jahren mir gelang - als ich die 3-4 anfällige Teile auf die Platine ersetzt habe - schlug diesmal fehl. Ich habe eine neue Elektronik-board bestellt. Meine original war mit Kennzeichnung 5213215501 SW 1.0 versehen, und die neue mit 5213216621 SW 1.1 beschrieben, aber jeder Shop welche es anbietet, bezeichnet die beide Platinen als identisch und geeignet für die Ecam 22.320.
Nach dem einsetzen konnte ich die Maschine sofort einschalten, schien alles i.O. zu sein, aber........Ich weiss nicht warum, aber wenn ich eine Tasse Kaffe wähle (egal ob Espresso oder grosse Tasse) die Maschine nach dem Mahlen fängt an sofort wieder zu mählen, und während der Kaffeezubereitung mahlt wiederholt 3-4 mal. Es wird zwar die Tasse Kaffe ausgegeben, aber die andere 4-5 Portionen gemahlenen Kaffe fällt unverbraucht z.T. hinter - und z.T. in den Kaffesatzbehälter der Maschine herunter. Jetzt habe ich festgestellt, wenn ich der Heisswasserknopf drehe, sofort beginnt der Mahlwerk zu mahlen, währen das heisses Wasser ausgegeben wird. Was könnte die Ursache sein? Es ist eher Software, oder liegt eher eine mechanische Defekt vor wie z.B. Antriebsproblem bzw. die Brühgruppe fährt nicht in die richtige position. Ich hoffe, du kannst mir weiterhelfen. MfG.
Hallo, mit Elektronik kenne ich mich leider nicht aus aber habe etwas von eine Prozedur nach dem Tausch der Platine gelesen "Erste Inbetriebnahme nach Platinentausch". Steht bei BND Shop unter der Artikelbeschreibung. Hast du das auch bei dir gemacht?
@@yt.myworksJa, die Maschine hat es nach dem einschalten - zwar auf italienisch - so angezeigt. Ich bin so vorgegangen......Könnte der Triac TY3 defekt sein?
@@atidrummer9504 Sorry, das weiß ich leider nicht. Ich denke auch, dass irgend etwas die Elektronik kaputt macht, würde aber den Antrieb bzw. die Brühgruppe ausschließen. Bei diesem Modell hatte ich einmal Probleme mit der Feuchtigkeit im Bedienteil. Deine Fehlerbeschreibung ist aber für mich neu.

The new Magnifica are junk. Keep refurbing the older models. My New 4200S only lasted 2 years before failing just out of warranty. It has had 5 faults which I have repaired and its getting too costly to repair it.
I wilkl never buy another Delonghi again.
@ADem You are right, the model 4200s was not the best. Unfortunately, the coffee machines are all broken at the latest after 10-15 K cups, no matter which manufacturer.

Witam, napewno będzie dobry jednak był bym ostrożny z dozowaniem. To mocny środek do użądleń gastronomicznych. Nie polecam do urządzeń marki saeko starszej generacji.
