I just wanted to write how amazed I am but I see in comments I am totally out of words like amazing, extraordinary, brilliant, etc. You rock my friend.
Absolutely stunning work again. And mixing the pigments made it so much more vibrant…. Never tought of that (but paint is made that way so I’ve should have )
WOW!! That is an AMAZING PIECE OF WORK!! That HONESTLY has to be the BEST, 1 of the BEST painting I have ever seen. The lantern and rock glow are just fabulous!!!! I have followed your techniques on other projects, I have become a better painter- I STILL SUX!! I just SUX LESS!! Thank You. KEEP THE VIDEOS/ART WORK coming!!!
I love how faithful this is to the concept art. I've not yet seen anyone attempt to paint her ice powers firing off in her left hand. The OSL is beautiful and it honestly blows my mind that you did the OSL as you went along, piece-by-piece, rather than waiting until the end. Efficient for sure, but my brain wouldn't be able to make it cohesive, haha.
Thanks so much! Well, I kind of did and I didn't.. Although I painted the initial OSL on the lantern/staff, the rest I kind of jumped around quite a bit, often returning to the same areas to push/refine the OSL until I was happy with the overall balance 😀
I’ve been watching since your very first imperial assault videos, and this is in the top 10 for me. So many good techniques, such a high-level paint job broken down into simple steps
Stunning work Mark. You had me at the OSL on the staff. Really love the detail you go into incorporating different colours into the highlights. Takes your minis to that next level
This is quite a coincidence, I spent a couple of hours painting the walls this afternoon following your tutorial. Great job as always and looking forward to painting the Witch!
This is so weird!! I literally just finished painting this and so many of the choices are similar. Obviously your execution is better/professional/stunning - but for an absolutle newbie - I feel somewhat proud to be close enough to what you've done! Awesome job.
Fantastic Job, Sorastro! Don't own this game yet, but seeing these heroes painted makes me wish I did. Also want to thank you for the Lord of the Rings series as well! I'm up to the Hill Troll, and working my way through it. You're an amazing teacher and gifted individual
Wow! Another great paint job. Can't wait for you to finish the series up. Still not played my copy as I want it all painted first. Hopefully you'll go back to the descent legends of the dark series at some point as well. Keep up the good work👍
I have no work really... your painting is STUNNING! This is looking SOOOO nice! I'm glad I found this channel though I'll never be able to paint so beautifuly :p Btw, for all those small details, do you use a magnifying glass ?
Thank you! Yep, as I mention in the video, you can totally use whatever bright or fluorescent colours you like. The Hera pigments are just the my favourite out of those that I've tried, and are somewhat unique in just how opaque they can be (if diluted accordingly) 😀
Thank you so much! That primer was the Aqueous Black Surfacer 1000 by Mr Hobby, which I thinned with a roughly equal amount of their Hobby Color Thinner 400 😀
Is there any particular reason why you switched from the tube scalecolor to the dropper bottle scalecolor when you started painting the cloak? Wasn’t sure if it was just strictly for the colour or if there was a paint property difference
Hi, and good question! I chose the bottled scale colour paints for the cloak as they have an ultra matte finish, which I really like the look of for softer fabrics like this (rather than more shiny stuff like leather and metal etc..). 😀
Thank you, John! I'm really not doing much that you can't see in the video tbh - just gradually moving up through the levels of brightness, and using short strokes and stippling to get the paint to accumulate where I want it.. 🙂
awesome job as always! Full NMM Warden next? :D I am personally looking to keep the options open for swapping between weapons. Any advice on adjusting the OSL to make it work with the other load-outs?
Thanks a lot! I'm actually painting the Priest next. I guess if you want to swap weapons and keep the OSL you'll either have to make them all glow (the same colour), or have no OSL at all.. 🙂
@@Sorastro priest is also very exciting! Looking forward to it :) And fair enough.. do you think it could work to just "tone down" the OSL so that it doesn't reach the legs/cloak? If so, any advice to that end?
Sure! I don't see why you couldn't apply some OSL just to the staff, and not to the body. If you imagine the character in a more day-lit ambience, that's probably what would happen anyway 😀
Thank you! I don't usually use an airbrush for that kind of thing tbh, partly because I want to achieve different intensities of light for different types of material.. 🙂
Makes sense, thank you for replying. I recently got my first airbrush and I’m trying to figure out when to use it, and when it’s better to stick to the brush, even though I have the option to use the airbrush now 😅. Any secrets to making the zenithal high light so smooth? Are you using inks for this ?
Im trying to follow along but my paint went gritty on the face. I am using citadel/army painter and I can't get the color smooth.. These scale75's aren't available in my area. Is Vallejo ok or should I try to mail order scale 75?
Hi there! I personally LOVE the Scalecolor Artist paints - especially for painting skin tones. That being said, Vallejo are fine, too, so maybe give them a go first (as they're cheaper and probably easier for you to get hold of). 😀
I noticed you don’t use washes on a lot of your latest stuff. Is there a reason behind it? They look so much more painterly without them. Really nice. Would you recommend not using them for smaller miniatures like imperial assault?
Hi! I guess it depends on what level I'm looking to achieve with the mini I'm working on; I do still speed paint some stuff, in which case I'll happily use some washes or speed paints.. 😀
Oh dang! That's wild. It wore down till it became perfect for another use. That's actually pretty awesome. Too bad I couldn't find one. I'll have to make one. Thank you!
why do you start to paint the lantern with yellow and than add the orange while you start with orange and end with yellow on the lantern stick? Beautiful figure btw. I played with the witch through the campaign and I had a lot of fun. Even tho I made some major mistakes with her ability cards :/
Thank you, and good question! I guess I wanted the lantern to be as bright as possible, so started with yellow over the white. Whereas with the "stick" I wanted to build the brightness up, just to a certain point (it shouldn't be quite a bright as the light source). 😀
@@Sorastro I know that you probably don't, BUT should you EVER decide to part with THE WITCH for any reason - PLEASE-PLEASE!!! LET ME KNOW FIRST!!! That is just an AMAZING piece of work!!!!
The execution of the OSL on the staff is wonderful. Both the intensity and the way it fades are just perfect.
Thank you Tom! I'm glad you like it 😀

Awesome work on these Oathsworn figures, mate!
Thank you, brother! I really appreciate that 🤗
So happy you're chosen 3 of the 4 characters I plan on using for your tutorial, so excited to pick up my brush again next week!
Thank you
Excellent! I hope you enjoy working on yours.. 😀
Yes! I've been waiting for this one. Great work as always! I can't wait for my copy of Oathsworn to come in.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it, and congrats on picking up a copy 😀

Ha ha, no - unfortunately not.. 😁
Thank you very much for sharing the creation of such a masterpiece. I am always amazed to watch your work.

Wow the contrast between the lantern and the blue spell is amazing. It really pops.
Thanks a lot, Steve! 😀
I’m inspired to try the lantern OSL. You made it look so easy. We’ll see how that goes….
Thanks for the video!

I'll be watching this again as inspiration when i get to the witch.
Thank you so much, Derek! 😀
Hi. I mimicked parts of this, escpecially the OSL. Tirned out really cool! Thanks man.
Excellent, sir! I'm happy to hear that 😀
Amazing sculpt. Amazing work on the OSL and Face!! The mood and atmosphere is amazing. You nailed this one. Great job 👏 😮

Excellent work both on the miniature and on explaining how to make OSL!
