Agreed! So help me, not only is practically every danged painter out there on social media a Warhammer stan, but they also just so happen to get freebies from GW which to me only fuels people's sense of FOMO where their (overpriced) products are concerned. I don't paint anything by Gee Dubs either and I also consider it a point of pride. Mind you, I'm not nearly as madly skilled as our man here is, though!
Been waiting eagerly for this one for a while and it has not disappointed :) I'm glad you painted the rat purple, a lot of painters have chosen grey instead but this stands out so much more (imo) and will look fantastic on the table
You're indeed amazingly talented. I literally have one mini left, from Lord of the Rings: JiME, to paint. Been using your guides and videos, along with some input of my own(don't own all the paints =p), and it has turned out better than I could've imagined. Although I'm a Vallejo/Pro Acryl fan, The Scale Color Artist line and S75 has been very good to me as well, and are up there with some of my favorite paints to use. By the time I make room and and can afford the entirety of Oathsworn, I hope the playlist will be complete, cause I plan to, yet again, use techniques and insight from your vids/pdf's. Awesome work, look forward to the next upload!
As usual, fine and inspiring work, sir! I love how you made the rats and Big Mama look sickly and undead but yet also made it interesting with all the little color variations you added. Definitely referring to this one in the future, for sure. It's a banner day when you post a new video, for me!
Depends on how dry it is. If it's like thick clay moisture won't get through. Otherwise put a layer of water or medium on top, close the pot and leave it for a few days.
Woaw.... Just woaw.... That's so nice! What a wonderful painting really O.O I never painted anything and just acquired Oathsworn but this seems so difficult to me. I'd really like to be able to paint like you do, that's for sure! I don't know where to start but I'm gonna keep looking at your videos! *Subscribed*
Thank you so much for the kind words! You might want to start by painting the villagers or men at arms perhaps just to ease yourself into the hobby.. 😀
@@Sorastro Thank you for the advice :). That's what I'm gonna do! I'm trying to look at Vallejo's equivalents of the colours you used and when I'll be more confident I'll pick my own colours :p. You did such a great job with the priest, that's one's really insane looking :)
Yeh, I tend to use paints, products, games, minis that I enjoy the most rather than what's common or most popular (otherwise I'd be down to Game Workshop like most painting "UA-camrs"), and I make no apology for that. That being said, there are paint apps out there that you might find useful if you need help "converting" colours from one paint range to another.. 😀
Only in theory. These apps don't convert SCA to Vellejo, GW or Army Painter. Mostly there are just no equivalents, and if there are it's from some another obscure company I can't buy in my area. With me being color impaired on top of that, I'm screwed. I totally understand and respect your choice, you're a pro. I'm just sad I can no longer use your videos as painting guides...😢
@@Gribbler17i actually recently switched to Scale Color after years of using Citadel and Vallejo paints because I’ve watched so many Sorastro tutorials (started with SW Legion) and his general painting tutorial vid and I gotta say, even with just the two scale color starter sets, they are amazing for the styles of painting Sorastro displays. I still use my old paints when it makes sense to but the Scale paints do the heavy lifting and I have never looked back
I'm subscribed to quite a few painting channels, but none inspire me to paint in quite the same way as when one of yours pops up on my feed. Your quality of painting is up there with some of the very best, but you're one of the few that makes your paintjobs something to aspire to, not something superhuman and out of reach for the average joe. I can't count the number of times I've heard you say "...so I decided to try" or "on a whim" or some other similar phrase, and that's taught me something that no other painting channel has: that experimenting, learning and refining is always going to be important and relevant no matter how skilled you are, and that's how you got to the level you are today. As someone struggling to get the results I want and often getting frustrated with glacially slow improvement, that's an invaluable insight. I keep returning to watch your videos to learn mindset as much as technique. So, thank you for that. On the other hand, I am holding you entirely responsible for the silly amount of money I splashed out on Oathsworn... hopefully you're planning to keep this content going for a good while (and there's certainly enough models to do so.)
amazing, and it's so cool that I am JUST painting my oathsworn, what a timing. normally I paint alot with airbrush+ oil paints. but I am using your video's to change up my painting a bit, just for the fun of it. I remember my first project I did with you, is blood rage, oh the time has flown. Thanks for all the amazing video's !
Hey Mark, great miniature and video! I watched it twice in a row, really enjoy your whole process. From the thumbnail I didn't realize how big the piece really was. She is as big as an adult dragon and those babies on her back aren't babies, those are giant rats, lol. Great camera shot at 13:03 she looks so intense and the best part you are not even done. The drool at the end was epic! Thanks Mark you have a wonderful day!
Great vid as usual! I’m happy to see that not every UA-camr paints only warhammer!
Ha ha, thanks! It's a point of some personal pride that I don't paint Games Workshop stuff tbh.. 😄
And it's ALWAYS freaking space marines. I love a good marine but there's so many killer sculpts in that universe.
@@Sorastroas well it should be a point of pride!

Yes, and the whole timeline is full of Skaventide. Ok well, it's also rats here 😅
Subscribed for the painting, clicked for the non warhammer content
Thank you, dude! 🤗
I too am tired of UA-cam assuming the only painting out there is for Warhammer
Ominous music, hand resting on the Necronomicon, a multitude of vermin painted. Surely these are dark omens. Awww rats.
Lol buddy 😄
Nicely done Mark!
Now you are ready to journey through the Deepwood! 😃
Enjoy!
Yeah, buddy! I can't wait.. 😀
@@Sorastro that game is amazing. enjoy!
Using the necronomicon to rest on is just the touch of class ive come expect 😅
Ha ha, thanks buddy (and well spotted!) 😁
Oh no, I just finished mine last weekend!
I bet it looks great! 😀
Been waiting eagerly for this one for a while and it has not disappointed :)

Thanks so much, Chris! I'm glad you like the more saturated look 😁
...how best (or how simple) to do BLACK LINE?...or maybe you have a video on such?...you are the master!...thank you for sharing!...
Thank you very much! I don't do anything special when black lining tbh - just use some black paint and draw the lines on 😁

Old Ones wrist support. Guide for reanimating your paint?

Yeh, I'm not actually sure tbh as my paints don't dry up.. 🙂
@@Sorastro Note to self. Lovecraftian puns need more work.
@@wayneclayton5426 Lol, sorry - I'm just being dumb 😄
Incredible work as usual! Out of curiosity do you put the ultramatte varnish through your airbrush as is or thinned down?
Thank you so much! I add some of the AK Interactive thinner, but I'm not sure it's entirely necessary tbh 😀

Amazing stuff again Mark. Will use some of this for the abominirat I’m about to start.
Thanks so much, Adrian! I actually made a video for the Abominirat now that you mention it.. 😄
Great work as always. That swarm on her back looks creepy... all those eyes! Really good job
Thank you buddy! I'm glad the eyes were worth the effort.. 😄
Geez the model did not look that big in the first few seconds until you picked it up and it became a giant
Ha ha, yeh, it really is huge! 😄
Great video as usual. I liked the tip, using a book as a hand rest. Thanks!
Thank you, James! I appreciate that 😀
Such a great guide to paint this huge and scary monster 😱
Thank you so much 🤗
Finally 🤩🔥🔥
Such an iconic piece - and an outstanding paintjob once again.

Thank you my friend! I'm glad you like it 🤗
