    So, I figured it out after half an hour:
    Step 1) Switch LOC to OFF and GM to ON just like the other user said.
    Step 2) Restart BFD Player. If you don’t restart it, it doesn’t recognize the newly changed settings on your kit for some reason. Also, every time you turn off your kit, those values will default to the original settings (LOC to ON and GM to OFF)
    Step 3) For latency issues, make sure you choose a (Windows Audio (Exclusive Mode)) output. I had latency issues with the default (Windows Audio) setting, but changing it to the output mentioned above made the drum strike and sound on the computer perfectly in sync.
    I wish this video went into more detail. It tells you how to set it up on your computer’s end but not on your kit’s end.

    I hope this helps someone.. no where in the manual or this video does it mention that you may need to download an audio driver (also says if you have a decent video card shouldnt be an issue, have 2080ti?) Driver is called ASIO4ALL. Downloaded works perfectly

      Hopefully you see this and respond....I have the Nitro Max, and have downloaded everything, including naked pictures of the Alesis.....it still doesnt record. I dont want to use BFD because its too big. I wanted to just use reaper. I donwloaded ASIO, still doesnt work. Some people are saying, I need an Audio interface???? Any ideas about that, i thought I could just plug the USB 2.0 into my computer and record, but i guess not.

    Hey Everyone, I have gone through a few of the comments and have noticed that most of folks are struggling to hear their kit in BFD player. I've taken these steps directly from the user guide of Nitro Max and modified a few of the lines. This video skips to tell this, so I hope you find it useful. Having said that you won't be able to play your kit in BFD player as there is a huge latency, which didn't resolve for me even after selecting the minimum sample rate of 144. However, playing in the DAW(Digital Audio Workstation), no latency was observed and I was able to play comfortably just as from drum module. Since you'd not be able to record via BFD player, it is better to get DAW anyway and play and record via it. You'd need to install BFD player and the whole shebang to use its kit inside DAW. However, you can always record with the built-in kits of the module in DAW by connecting the drum module to your Audio interface. Anyway, here are the steps:
    A) To play directly in BFD player
    1. Press Utility repeatedly until the desired setting appears on the display:
    • LOC (Local Mode):
    o When set to ON, playing your electronic drum kit will trigger the sounds
    in the drum module.
    o When set to OFF, playing your electronic drum kit will trigger sounds in a
    computer connected to the module's USB port, bypassing the drum
    module's sound library - You have to select this option to be able to play in BFD player.
    o GM (General MIDI Mode): When set to ON, Channel 10 in the drum
    module will use General MIDI percussion sounds.
    o When set to OFF, Channel 10 in the drum module will use the module's
    internal drum sounds.
    2. Use the - and + buttons to adjust the value.
    B) To play and record to recording software (DAW):
    1. Use a USB cable (sold separately) to connect to the USB port on the module's rear
    panel to an available USB port on your computer.
    2. Open DAW software and set the active instrument or MIDI track to Channel 10,
    and start recording.
    Note: Be sure to have an instrument plugin (like BFD player) inserted into the
    instrument track or MIDI track.
    3. Start recording in your DAW.
    4. Play your Nitro Max kit!
    5. Stop recording in your DAW. Your performance has been recorded
    C) To play and record with default kits of drum module in DAW(via Audio Interface):
    1. Use the 6.35mm 1/4 inch cable to connect your drum module to your audio interface. You can use L/Mono output of the drum module and connect it to one of the inputs of your audio interface.
    2. Select the instrument as the input in your bus and start playing and recording after arming the track.

      My DAW interface (Audacity) only captures external sound. I can't figure out how to configure it to get sound from BFD.
      - On Alesis Nitro Max LOC is OFF.
      - The USB cable is connected.
      - In the DAW, MIDI is set to Alesis Nitro Max, and the recording device is set to Primary Sound Capture.
      - On Audacity the output is set to DirectSound - Primary device sound
      Any ideas on what might be wrong?

    • @PracticaProphetica
      @PracticaProphetica 23 дні тому

      @@TurbineTunes I don't think Audacity can be used for what you are trying to do. I tried to link another UA-cam video that essentially says this, but UA-cam won't let me.
      Why don't you try Reaper? It has a free trial (and you can even continue to use it after the trial period is over for as long as you want). There's also the free version of Sonar (by Bandlab) available (but maybe not for much longer). But I switched to Reaper, and I highly recommend it...their development is much more open, and it's really innovative (not to mention, much less expensive, if you decide to buy it).

      I second this notion. Even selecting the highest possible sampling rate (the only option I had) and the lowest possible buffer size as the video suggests, the latency between hitting the pad and hearing its sound is high enough to be largely unplayable.

But its my preset sound from the module itself. NOT the sounds from bfd. If i click on a drum from bfd with my mouse, i hear the sound from that kit on bfd through my headphones and It sounds HORRENDOUS. What a waste of time, and will probably be returning my entire kit. Hi there, we highly recommend using your headphones directly with the computer that's running BFD Player, or with whichever audio output device you've selected in the BFD Player Settings menu (5:20).
      Additionally, since you mentioned that you're hearing the Nitro Max module kit preset instead of the one you've loaded in BFD Player, make sure that:
      • the module is connected to your computer via USB cable;
      • "Alesis Nitro Max" is selected in the MIDI section of the BFD Player Settings menu (5:49);
      • the Alesis Nitro Max keymap is selected in the BFD Player Preset menu (6:12).
      If you're still having trouble after following these steps, please reach out to the Alesis Technical Support team, they'll be able to help you get up & running! alesis.com/support
