- Many different kinds of wildlife across the world are in danger, but we’ve created a world’s most endangered species list to put a spotlight on just how small some populations are. These almost-extinct animals are in some dire straits, with some populations having less than a hundred left!
This is a comparison of 32 Endangered Species, Ranked by Their Current Population Left.

It's interesting how the black-footed ferret was once thought to be extinct, but then a dog killed one and bought it to its owner, who wanted it taxidermied but found out the animal was thought to be extinct. At that point, they discovered there were 7 left. It's great that they got their numbers a little higher.

Means if someone is lucky enough they can even find the extinct tasmanian tiger it could be still exists in the wild nobody knows .

Spix's Macaw, extinct in the wild, got down to 7 captive birds at one point, but it's now back up to 67 captive individuals and there is talk of a release into the wild. California Condor is a huge, though costly, success story, from a low of 23 birds, eventually all captured, to a population of 463 now. They have been released in several traditional locales: then original area north of LA, as well as Grand Canyon and Pinnacles NP and in the northern mountains of Baja California. Another success story is the Whooping Crane, which fell to as low as 22 birds before captive breeding began. Since then, their numbers have increased to 800 birds. The real ornithological tragedy has been in the Hawaiian Islands, where there has been a relentless march to extinction for many of the endemic Honeycreeper family. Introduced mosquitoes are the culprit; they transmit diseases like avian malaria to which the birds have no immunity.
Those bloodsuckers will probably drive humans out too.

The black naped pheasant-pigeon was recently re discovered. They got a picture of 1 and they haven't been seen since 1882. I'd say thats pretty rare
It’s so sad, 11 months ago there were 30 vaquitas left and now there are only nine :( there was an attempt to save them but one that was captured died of a heart attack, possibly from the stress

I see you used Blu from Rio in the thumbnail to represent the Spix’s Macaws interesting (Loved the first movie by the way while the second movie is not terrible just weaker then the original film) They really need to make a Pokémon based on the Spix’s Macaw as that would be a dream come true for me.
Fun fact: Giant Panda was cconsidered "Endangered" in 2015 by IUCN red list, though nowadays it was listed as "Vulnerable" instead. Not sure if the numbers changed by much

Actually, there is a species of a rhino that is also on the verge of extinction with 2 females left. The male recently died, but scientists are trying to find a away to get the rhinos to reproduce.

@@negus2005 I looked on Google and it appears like 2 are left. That is not a good news though. They are functionally extinct since they cannot reproduce in the wild. Javan Rhinos on the other hand have a chance.
Just found out about a vaquita today. Most terrifying thing I've ever witnessed.
You’re forgetting the Mississippi Sandhill Crane. Only found in a “wet pine savanna” habitat on southern parts of Mississippi. Since they only live in that specific habitat, and the construction of I 10 along with numerous other things, the habitat only occupies a small portion along the gulf coast. That’s how they got endangered. There are about 125 left I think but they are growing again.

Bees are also extremely endangered, with there only being 80 million to 100 million managed beehives. This probably seems like a lot, but if you take into account how much land is on Earth (around 196.9 million mi2), you can really start to understand how little bees there are in the world.

to everyone who hates bees: bees are beneficial pollinators who can pollinate almost very farmed crop, which means if bees go extinct, pollination will stop. if pollination stops, then fruit that only appears from pollinated plants with die off and humanity will face serious consequences. you might think that wasps and butterflies can pollinate but they rarely fertilize flowers

I dont get too upset over animals like that. They didnt have many of them to begin with... Tigers are the saddest ones. Pandas are sad too. Since there is only around 2,000 left and there are only 2 panda species so if both species die the entire animal dies.
I was actually on a hike in Hawaii once, and I was just peacefully walking with my uncle, who knows a lot about birds, and we saw a Hawaiian crow in a tree, and we didn’t’t know what to do, so we called animal control and they said just to leave it alone.

I actually went to see the spixs macaw at the verge of it's extinction with my family in a zoo they were really beautiful creatures, sad to see them go away like this
They're rebounding. They started with 7 captive birds in 1982, and now there are over 150 of them. They were reintroduced into the wild in June of this year too
@@Thrall079 That's a VERY slow progress. Give those birds to breeders specializing in Macaws and the number would be in 1000s now.
I did the same with Guam kingfishers. The American government is doing nothing to help Guam's ecological disaster.

As of publication, according to Marca, there are only 10 vaquitas left in the world, as far as environmentalists know. Vaquitas aren't explicitly being hunted or poached, but their numbers are being drastically affected by irresponsible fishing practices, and lacking conservation efforts from the Mexican government.

There is some left! Breeding programs and zoos have bred over fifty of them, it is still a small number though.

They had to bring over other pumas from elsewhere because their gene pool was getting so low that the pure Floridan pumas were having health issues due to being severely inbred. The ones brought over made the species be revived basically.

I remember doing a group project on the Vaquita in the 6th grade 6 years ago I totally forgot about them. I believe their population was less than 100 6 years ago I’m unsure. I’m glad they still exist however and hope they don’t go extinct.

You missed the Iramote Wildcat from Iramote island in Japan. It's critically endangered, with less than 150 left on the planet. They are endangered due to habitat destruction.

Plot twist: spix macaws are making a comeback as scientists released a flock of them back into their habitat Brazil a month ago and they are doing great
I actually saw a Spix's Macaw and South China Tiger in the zoo not too long ago, i really hope their population goes up again, they are such beautiful animals along with everything else on this list
Keep in mind that these are the statistics for the animals that are still in the wild.
A lot of them are being held in captivity until there’s enough to release back to the wild.
I've actually seen one of the really endangered ones.

Fun fact: There are aproximately 700-1,200 axolotls left. The axolotl is also endangered and in Minecraft, you can also find them and in real life.

Also fun fact: Axolotls can be kept as pets but with a license because the axolotls are ENDANGERED.
