Rickson is a special human being. I think he truly wants jiu jitsu to be consistent, honorable and moral. Now anybody who trains or is a fan of jiu jitsu knows Rickson’s accomplishments and how he lives his life and would make no argument about him receiving his belt. The plain fact that he takes a humongous personal milestone to try and bring improvement to bjj structure, integrity and consistency ironically illustrates how clearly he deserves his coral belt. A living legend and definition of what a warrior is and should be is Rickson Gracie.
There isn't (literally) not ONE Bjj practitioner in the known universe that would THINK (much less voice out loud) any disagreements with Master Rickson meriting or being presented with his red belt.
No, there are some out there, but only because of his age. Most people follow or believe that Carlos Gracie, Jr.'s IBJJF time-in-grade requirement of having been a black belt at least 48 years and being a minimum of 67 years old is the earliest you can get your ninth degree red belt. However, what most people forget or don't know is that Helio never followed or cared for the IBJJF guidelines and neither does his side of the family. It's much shorter under theirs. Not sure, how Rickson does it, but if you look at current photos of him he still refuses to wear his red belt. So who knows when he'll finally wear it on a regular basis.
@Berto G bravo can't beat them all, he's even said guys like Marcelo Garcia have cooked him. He's a high level grappler but he's not as good as Rickson. These are legit red belts, bravo would probably not even think he can tap them all.
In my humble opinion he exhibits the most passion he's old school and surprisingly he dedicated most of his time to beginners when he used to teach full time.
Why do i feel like crying every time i see someone receive a black or red belt? It's like you can just feel that energy. Those 50 years of working hard making it your daily grind. Your entire life's passion culminating in this ceremony. It means so much, it takes so much. No one can ever just be given a red belt. You have to earn that. And it's never, ever gonna be easy. And it's never gonna come fast. You have to dedicate your life to this, for so long. Seeing this brings me so much joy man. I hope i live long enough to earn this belt myself.

The plain fact that he takes a humongous personal milestone to try and bring improvement to bjj structure, integrity and consistency ironically illustrates how clearly he deserves his coral belt. A living legend and definition of what a warrior is and should be is Rickson Gracie.
What a beautiful family and an example to us all! Congratulations, Rickson!

I didn't think I could love Rickson more. But he proved me wrong. What the hell!
He’s already been Goku Ultra Instinct level for decades...the Red Belt is a loooooong overdue formality.
Travis Lee but like kakarot, he remained humble and doing his best to be a better martial artist
Chino Rivera so true!
What a privilege for those in that room to witness that. I'm feel honored just to see this online.
The love and respect that they all have for him is evident. Very moving, quite a moment in time.
So cool! I had a cameo LOL! SO glad I was in attendance to witness this! His humbleness and eagerness to continue on his path is inspiring!
JUST A G IN A GI
Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. you better go get those lessons if your gonna get into MMA
*Alhamdulilah*
Damn right!
The real Floyd doesn't know how to spell "Gi"
THE OG IN A GI !! LOL
There isn't (literally) not ONE Bjj practitioner in the known universe that would THINK (much less voice out loud) any disagreements with Master Rickson meriting or being presented with his red belt.
It's their family business after all.
Renato Laranja.
Besides Rickson himself
Jujitsu saved my life!!! Thanks to the men in that room as spread to the people that even teach me till this day... love it
In my humble opinion he exhibits the most passion he's old school and surprisingly he dedicated most of his time to beginners when he used to teach full time.
"This is how many degrees here?" clearly he aint here for the belt
Thats actually quite amazing, that he did not even remember nor count the amount of stripes , says something about the focus
The man's belt was practically red already.
This is the coolest fucking thing ever
I wish I could have been there to witness such a historic event!!

You are by watching this
" Now you wear red belt, now you can make any rule you want." This love between brothers fills my heart.
My dad, Carlos Machado was there.
You're dad Is a good man
Do you train with your dad and uncles?

Beautiful! Well done master rickson! The world owes you so much thanks
If there were more great men like mr gracie teaching young people respect and honor the world would be a much better place.
What a man, what a martial artist. They stop makin guys like rickson.
I almost cryed myself....
Rickson Gracie is a legend, he's so intelligent. I love hearing him speak because he has so much wisdom and intelligence and I literally learn something everytime I have the privilege of listening to him speak, I am so grateful someone like him exists and has devoted his life to teaching others.
"You should wear a red belt, cuz i tell you to.'' ahahha cant get more gengsta than that
If there's a man alive who deserves the Red Belt, that one is Rickson Gracie.
Starting on Tuesday. This art looks so alluring and humbling. I cant wait to get involved!
How's it been?
How was it

@@saahirahmed3323 nearly got my blue belt then covid shutdown :(
@@valkarcy Just started last week! U gotta get back up! the fact that u were close to ur blue belt says a lot abt ur progress! I want to be like u one day! keep it up!
Rickson is Jiu Jitsu.
"If our father were here , you better ready to argue"😂😂😂
I think what makes Rickson a great person is not his skills or his great attitude for life but his family that loves and respects him and the upbringing from his parents that set up good foundation and if theyre not stable from day one it will crumble for most of us who didnt have solid foundations. He is an amazing humanitariun and should get a nobel peace prize in my eyes. I wish i had these people in my life when i was growing up and probably changed my way of thinking but now i have to learn to change to help myself and help others.
To me, Rickson is the most admirable, intelligent and real martial artist to inspire since perhaps Bruce Lee...A TRUE LIVING legend!
I've been so out of touch, i didn't know he received a red belt. Thanks JiuJitsuMag that was truly amazing.
A very gracious man and a man of good integrity.
Like the Jedis of the all republic walking into a room! Oss !!!
I just bought one on amazon. Prime delivered in two days
..to use in sadomaso sessions...hahahha
Congrats on your ameridote promotion
Im honoured to be in your presence 🥴
The way he stopped the whole room from shouting with a simple whistle gave me chills 3:05
Like a true alpha
Exactly!
It should be not about time but achievement Rickson should be a red belt.
in most martial arts it takes usual both..time and achievement...to become a master
"WITH THE RED BELT YOU CAN MAKE ANY RULE YOU WANT" amazing I'm tearing up.
Im a Black belt in karate and kickboxing and watching this award with the gracies is heartwarming, eventhough im not a ju jitsu practitioner i very much respect the art and the gracies for what they have achieved and continue to do so. great stuff and a very well earnt red belt.
This is humbling. Extremely humbling to see Master Richson, one of my heroes, have such an intense gut check. I love Jiu-jitsu and it effects my entire life. I will never stop being a student of this amazing discipline.
This man is a legend and my hero
Imagine being there and witnessing this
Imagine having immortality and being a red belt in Jiu Jitsu, the strength, cardio and technique would be impossible to roll against. God bless the Gracies ❤️
Rickson is a true legend, am inspiration, and someone who everyone can look up too and admire,. A living legend
The honour alone to be there let alone be the guy who got to promote him. This is one of my favourite videos to watch
Sounds like BJJ needs an outlined grading structure like other martial arts. Awesome to see this man's dedication to his art and wanting to make it better.
They do have one, which is Rickson’s entire point. According to the curriculum, he doesn’t qualify yet.
Better than winning the lottery. A rare event to witness indeed.
Orgulho do jiu jitsu brasileiro, muito merecido!!
I have a deep respect for the Gracie Family and the values of BJJ. Very humbling and inspiring. Thank you 🙏
We all salute you in the path you have created in the art , personally thank you!
Amazing, I didn't even know Rickson just got his redbelt 2 months ago. Wow, congrats...cool to see Fabio Santos and Pedro Sauer there as well; I train at both their affiliate schools Horizon Martial arts under Robert Maves and Universal Jiujitsu under Melvin Locke.
Rorion: "Because I say you are a red belt"... "our father"
Rickson: "It's a rule book".
Rickson is the true martial artist. He believes in rule by laws, not rule by people.
The guy reeks of class. The reason I love jiujitsu. It was sad I was a white belt for 6yrs. Been a blue for 4yrs now goin for my purple. The journey is awesome
Nadene Kawamura 6yrs as a white belt? Why? Which school?
Fight4life it’s a school on Maui. I just had a hard time grasping it in the beginning
And expensive! How much money have you paid to learn the same stuff over and over. Hopefully, at some point, you'll realize that you are being ripped off.
His response to not feeling he should have the red belt is a testimony of his humility and is more confirmation( on top of his skill and achievements) that he has earned it. Just my .02
That must have been awesome to be part of .... training at a Rickson Gracie seminar and then look up and see you are surrounded by the Jedi Council of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. The knowledge in that room is priceless.
Congratulations Grandmaster Ricksonon Gracie
