I just LOVE sushi, long before I embarked on a raw vegan lifestyle sushi was a fave! Due to potential issues with nori and many seaweeds in general I didn't have sushi for a long period of time, this is when I came out with the "Better than Nori" recipe video (Link and more info above) and it was back on my menu. The one thing I always had a hard time with when making raw sushi is that the rice tends to be crumbly and not stick together. I tried at least a dozen ways to try to get it to stick but most left the "rice" either soggy or with a strange texture or flavour, that is until I figured out the secret that I share in the video!
If you do not have a food processor you can make the "rice" using @rawfoodromance's "Wet Chop" technique!

That is a crazy amount of ginger!! When I saw 100g in the recipe, I assumed it was an error and used like a tsp!!! Mercy! Can't wait for the next time I make it!
Ohh I find that much makes it perfect, the cauliflower mellows it out. That said I did however enjoy wasabi a lot too! Ahah let me know what you think!
U can also add some apple to help it stick and give it that sticky rice sweetness, or jicima ive used mixed with it before

I finally stopped watching this video on repeat, imagining how it tasted and actually tried it! Good thing this recipe makes four rolls. I was only able to eat two, but the first one I rolled looked like a three year old rolled it😂 The second was much better. Practice makes better! They were delicious! I had so much fun eating these. I thought the ginger would be too much, but it was zesty and 🤔 energizing😅 Next on the list to try is your raw pizza. I’ve bought the recipe books and watched the videos for years. I’ve always been too intimidated to try it, but your recipes are always amazing. Thank you for sharing❤❤

Yum! Love raw vegan sushi! Something I've found works great not only for nice sticky cauliflower rice but for easier digestion aswell is to use your trick of freezing the cauliflower and thawing. I then wet chopped it in my Vitamix and strained and squeezed the excess water through a nut milk bag. One tip I will say is that you will need more cauliflower using this method as a lot of the water from the cauliflower is squeezed out when you put it through the nut milk bag. I love the idea of using fresh ginger with the cauliflower and can't wait to try it next time I make sushi 😁 Thanks for your great recipes and Merry Christmas ☃️🌲

I was inspired by your strawberry hearts and thought, "Eat like you love yourself." 😊 You may have done "rice bowls" already. I am also inspired by the rice, and made myself a cauliflower rice bowl today with same ingredients as your sushi recipe. Turned out well. I think maybe a Mexican "rice" bowl would be good too. If you haven't already, I'd love to see you take this idea as a chef and run with it. 😊🙏🏼

Yep it does but it makes a bit more slimy feel and tastes flaxy, the chia doesn’t have a flavour.

Speaking of sweet - have you tried adding sweetness (to mimic the sugar which is added to sushi-rice vinegar mixes)?
And if yes - which sweetener did/would you use?
Thanks a ton! I have tried mixing a slightly sweet dipping sauce, sweetened with dates, to the rice, it works decently but also makes the rice “wetter” n the nori soggy. A few dates with justttt enough water to blend could work, or otherwise one could use “raw” coconut sugar.

I also wonder, how the widely used kombu seaweed would fare (or rather the soaking water from this seaweed) as an umami-source in those japanese cuisine inspired raw recipes.

I wouldnt leave the cauliflower wet from tap water like he says to do. Tap water has fluoride among many other toxic substances in it like heavy metals. So dont ingest tap water in anyway. Spring water would be best or reverse osmosis filtered water would also be good. But dont get that fluoride into your food.
Good tip in general, something I could have pointed out is that we have a whole house filter and RO for drinking and washing produce in our kitchen. Good to check your municipality to see if they use fluoride to know what kind of filter to get. As a aside do you think most produce is grown and or washed by the grocers with RO or spring?, not nitpicking just being devils advocate and realistic.
When they spray produce in the grocery store its not jst water they are using I found that out recently, when I was a kid we play play in it, although back then it prob was jst water now the goverment is trying 2 kill us anyway they can not even hiding it anymore 😂

@@TheRawAdvantage maybe the clipping is due to the bass membrane on my bluetooth-speaker. Some bass-heavy songs started to trigger this effect as well. Anyways, thanks for the reply :)
