I remember seeing your beautiful hand dyed yarn and no frills on your Instagram. Eventually I went to your webpage, and saw you had stopped selling hand dyed, and I was bummed, I wanted to make a no frills like yours! It’s still gorgeous! Nice job with the podcast, love hearing from other New England knitters.
Ohh I’m so sorry you didn’t get any. Yes, I am unfortunately no longer dyeing or selling yarn. I just don’t have the time to keep up with it. I hope you have found an alternative!!
Hi Svenja, I really like your sweater choices. I like raglans, and you showed some really pretty ones. I love your beautiful Pyr! I had two( at the same time)and burned out a few vacuum cleaners. If you collect the fur, you can spin it and knit with it. They are such wonderful dogs.
Aww thanks!! She’s actually a golden retriever! Often mistaken as a pyr because she is very fluffy and on the stockier side 😂 and I share your struggle with the vacuuming!
Hi Svenja. I've recently found Andrea - her channel is called The Knitting PT. She has great advice on how to best deal with knitting pains etc. Her youtube podcasts are lovely too and she always gives a wellness tip at the end of her videos :)
I discovered you yesterday and really like what you´re making :) I myself started knitting a year ago and I´m finally getting over my "need to make all the super complex and unique things"-phase and starting to be more practical and realistic about my pattern choices, so I can actually make things I can wear on a daily basis :D
I love this idea. I have 4 sweaters and two shawls on my list to make before the end of the year. No idea how much I will get done. Enjoyed this video as much as your first.
Wonderful play list of fiber goodness 🎶♥️🎶 Thank you for such a lovely Podcast . Can you share the way you knit . I always find it interesting how people hold their needles 🎶🎶🎶☺️🎶
Loving your new podcast. The sweater you have on is gorgeous. You showed the WoolStok in the last podcast and another podcaster used that to make the Snow Crocus by Midori Hirose. It is gorgeous.
Excellent ! And I love Winnifred-I’m a dog girl as well so it’s nice to see another knitter who has to pick dog hair off of their yarn. Happy knitting! 😊
Oh go for the Birkin. It’s one of my favourite knits. I’m so pleased with it. I made long sleeves on mine. You could always shape the body slightly but I don’t find mine too boxy. 😊
Hi Svenja! I bought the book "Knitting Comfortably" The Ergonomics of Handknitting - by Carson Demers. You're sure to find an exercise for what ails you. 😉 Another great podcast!
I love your no frills sweater. 2023 is the year I will knit mine. I saw others recomend Andrea from the knitting pt. I don't know if you saw that she offers consults as well to help you knit more ergonomically. I haven't done a session yet but I hope to do one in the future. Happy knitting
So glad I caught you next video and again just so informative. I love PetiteKnit patterns and love uses the mohair the sheen is beautiful. The patterns are classic but not the boring American classic. I have the last 2 years not knitting as much despite the time available during Covid. I got in place feeling guilty just sitting and knitting maybe because I had more time to do it. But I am back but will not start another project till I finish a wide scarf with various stitches that I have to pay attention to and can’t binge watch something (it requires discipline which I need now). That said I have 4 future projects I look forward to in PetiteKnit pattern. Love how you name designers and yarns. Just listened to your description of sweater no 11 I think have yarn with this. Thank you.
👋 Hello, I’m new to watching your podcast and because you are fairly new to podcasting perfect time to watch from the beginning. I am wondering how your friends wedding sweater turned out? Maybe you will share on a future episode. I am working on my first adult size pullover, so you are my inspiration to break down the wall and knit myself sweaters. 😅 -StitchedbyMimi
Really lovely video. I only just discovered your channel because of this video! I love planning my knitting as well. I find it's just as much fun to plan and look through my yarn as it is to knit the project, just like you said. I'm not sure if you're aware but My Favourite Things Knitwear's patterns are awful when it comes to sizing. The patterns are not size inclusive at all. I just wanted to mention it because you might not want to support her if size inclusivity is something that you believe in. I've been working on a video for the last few months where I'm trying to offer size inclusive alternatives to some popular patterns (quite a few are from MFTK), so there are plenty of 'dupes' out there.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes I’m finding the lack of size inclusivity an issue, although I do hear she is expanding sizes in some of her more popular patterns. I’ll have to check out your video!!
@@svenjaknits I've seen that her most recent patterns have been released up to a size 4XL (but her sizing is always smaller than normal so her 4XL is more of a normal 2XL). I do hope that she changes her sizing because I really love her designs! I will hopefully have the video ready soon. It's been so much work gathering all the information together 🙈
I have 2 golden, one English and one American…boy I feel your pain. I obsessively vacuum everyday and they would like to convince me that I forgot to feed them. They team up against💗. When you put up the image of the champagne cardigan, I thought your husband was standing in the back😂😂😂. I’m legally blind and this happens all the time😂😂😂.
I was so excited to see another episode! It was great! Also, I understand the dog hair issues. It’s okay for me but a little bit embarrassing for gift knits. 🤣
I would probably do some sort of stretchy cast for a nice and loose ribbed collar. I will plan to talk about it during a future video when I finally cast on!
If I want to use a different yarn, I just: My preferred yarn gauge/original yarn gauge= % Then, Original yarn cast on sts x % = Your revised cast on sts. Do the same for the rows. Sts. Row
Original Gauge 14 20 New Gauge 18 22 % 1.285714286 1.1 Original Cast on 56 84 =New cast on 72 92
For Raglan, find the percentage of the total stitches that went into each section. Use that percentage for your new sts total Raglan Stitches
Basic Sleeve Back Sleeve Front Total original 8 20 8 20 56 % 0.14 0.36 0.14 0.36 1.00 =New 10 26 10 26 72

Love seeing your pattern and yarn choices! It's so fun to hear you sharing what you like about each of them! Really helpful.
Glad it helps! So happy you are watching! 😁

Oh thank you so much! I will definitely check her out!
I second this recommendation. Her channel is great!
I really need this🙏 I started kniting a few months ago and already started to have a lot of pain on my joints 😕
UA-cam has great timing on recommendations, your first episode was on my front page for me to find, especially so soon after this episodes release!
Haha, thank you UA-cam! So glad you're watching :)
It’s so much fun to see the plans of other knitters because it gets my own creative juices going. Well done with Episode number 2!
Agreed! I've found so much inspiration here too so hoping to pay it forward :)
Another lovely podcast thankyou so much love all the information and I like your knitting choice
Another lovely video. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to make xx
Thank you for another lovely episode 🙏🤗
Thank you for watching!
Love your choices! You’re a natural in front of the camera and doing a great job.
Aw thanks so much!
Warm hello from the icy Yukon! Your podcast is wonderful, Svenja. ❤ Enjoying every episode!
Welcome!! Hope you’re staying warm 🥶

Your No Frills is so nice. I should try to knit one this winter 🥰
Highly recommend, it's flattering on everyone and very customizable!
Wonderful play list of fiber goodness 🎶♥️🎶

Thank you so much! That's a great recommendation for Woolstok, thanks for sharing!
You have some big plans!! There are so many top down raglans that I really don't know which one to choose.
It's so hard to choose with so many options out there!
Excellent ! And I love Winnifred-I’m a dog girl as well so it’s nice to see another knitter who has to pick dog hair off of their yarn. Happy knitting! 😊
Oh yes, we buy sticky rollers in bulk at our house! So worth it though ;)
I understand the pet hair in knitting - I have 3 cats and a Beagle. It is never-ending! 😄
You have beautiful projects planned!
Oh go for the Birkin. It’s one of my favourite knits. I’m so pleased with it. I made long sleeves on mine. You could always shape the body slightly but I don’t find mine too boxy. 😊
Ok you’re convincing me!!! What yarn did you use?
Hi Svenja! I bought the book "Knitting Comfortably" The Ergonomics of Handknitting - by Carson Demers. You're sure to find an exercise for what ails you. 😉 Another great podcast!
Thank you for the recommendation! I'll have to check that out!

The wedding sweater turned out very nicely! I will ask her if I can share some of her photos. What sweater do you plan on making yourself?!
Enjoying your podcasts . Could you do an introduction in your next one. Would like to know you better. Regards from Canada
Really lovely video. I only just discovered your channel because of this video! I love planning my knitting as well. I find it's just as much fun to plan and look through my yarn as it is to knit the project, just like you said.

Haha, this made me laugh! 🤣
Dont say you cant do the 10. I have over 4000 patterns in que and always have at least 10 cast ons! So yes you can do it!
Holy moly!! That’s a lot of patterns and wips! How do you stay organized?
oh my God 😂
I was so excited to see another episode! It was great! Also, I understand the dog hair issues. It’s okay for me but a little bit embarrassing for gift knits. 🤣
Haha, agreed. I keep a lint roller nearby at all times!
do you have a preferred cast on edge for the turtleneck patter
I would probably do some sort of stretchy cast for a nice and loose ribbed collar. I will plan to talk about it during a future video when I finally cast on!
If I want to use a different yarn, I just:
My preferred yarn gauge/original yarn gauge= %
Then, Original yarn cast on sts x % = Your revised cast on sts.
Do the same for the rows.
Sts. Row
Original Gauge 14 20
New Gauge 18 22
% 1.285714286 1.1
Original Cast on 56 84
=New cast on 72 92
For Raglan, find the percentage of the total stitches that went into each section.
Use that percentage for your new sts total
Raglan Stitches
Basic Sleeve Back Sleeve Front Total
original 8 20 8 20 56
% 0.14 0.36 0.14 0.36 1.00
=New 10 26 10 26 72
Wow that's a great formula, thanks for sharing!
