    People should let you know how much they appreciate a person like you trying to teach people how to do this instrumental talent. A lot of people can’t get there they get bored with it really fast, but I feel like you’re very very easy person to learn from. I feel like you’re really thorough on your explaining and teaching rhythm and chord patterns. I just wanted to say thank you very much. Keep doing what you’re doing.

    Among all explanations during the lesson, the teaching of the strumming stands out. So well taught like I have not seen it in so many Moon Rising lessons I have checked out (including for D tuning which you might add later on). Well done and congrats. I subscribed!

    I LOVE YOUR SITE. I AM A FRUSTRATED GUITAR WANT TO BE AS A CHILD, MY YOUNGER BROTHER WAS ABLE TO GET A OLD USED MARTIN, THAT WAS IN OUR HOUSE. THE PROBLEM WAS IT WAS RIGHT HANDED, I AM LEFT HANDED. I ALSO WAS UNABLE TO GET IT IN TUNE. I SENSE LEARNED THAT MOST PEOPLE WHEN THEY FIRST PICK UP A GUITAR WITH NO MUSIC BACKGROUND, HAVE PROBLEMS TUNING. I DID EVENTUALLY LEARN TO PLAY UPSIDE DOWN, I USED BY THUMB TO GET THE HIGH E STRING. I THINK I LEARNED A FEW OTHER CHORDS. HOWEVER, BEING UNALBE TO TUNE THE GUITAR, IT ENDED UP IMP9SSIBLE TI FIND SOMEONE THAT HAD ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND, SO IT WAS NEVER IN TUNE. THE OLDER MARTINS, THIS WAS IN THE EARLY 60S, DID NOT HAVE THE WONDERFUL TUNING KEYS WE HAVE NOW. NOW ADAYS EVEN CHEAPER GUITARS HAVE TUNING KEYS THAT HOLD GOOD TUNING FOR MONTHS OR LONGER, FURTHERMORE IN THE WORLD OF CELL PHONES BEING ABLE TO TUNE A GUITAR OR CHANGE THE TUNING BY ALTERING THE FREQUENCY OF THE STRINGS BY TUNING UP OR TUNING DOWN. I LOVED PLAYING BUT TRYING TO PLAY UPSIDE DOWN ONLY ALLOWS COWBOY CHORDS. I WAS UNAWARE AS A TEEN AGER ABOUT USING TRIADS- TO ME TRIADS WAS A NAME OF A SONG ON THE JEFFERSON AIRPLANE ABLUM. I GREW UP IN SUFFOLK COU NTY, I JUST WISH WE HAD THE TOOLS THEY HAVE TODAY. I THINK I WOULD NOT OF BEEN HYPNOTIZED BY THE VIDEO GAME WORLD. IF ONLY I COULD HAVE HAD A MUSICAL FAMILY THAT COULD TUNE A GUITAR. INSTEAD I ENDED UP PARENTS THAT WERE LIKE ARCHIE BUNKER. THE TWO THINGS I WANTED MOST IN LIFE WAS TO BE SOMEONE IN A BAND OR A MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER. HOWEVER, I ENDED UP ON THE SHORT END OF EITHER OF MY TWO BIGGEST DREAMS. LUCKILY I HAD A BRAIN, AND THE MOTHERS AND PAPAS SUNG CALIFORNIA DREAMING- WHICH GAVE ME OTHER OPTIONS. NOW I AM RETIRED AND I FELT LUCKY ABOUT THE BEATLES IDEAS THAT WAS A BIG PART OF THEIR MUSIC- I STILL LOVE IMAGINE AND JESSE COLIN YOUNG AND THE SONG GET TOGETHER. OUR MUSIC WAS DIFFERENT THAN TODAY, THE WERE MANY SONGS ABOUT A VERY DIFFERENT LIFE THAN I HAD A CHILD. KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK. THERE ARE A LOT OF ELDERLY THAT WANTED TO PLAY GUITAR AS A KID BUT HAD THE SAME HANDICAPS WITH TUNING A GUITAR THAT ENDED UP BEING A FRUSTRATION, AND SOMETHING THAT I ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN.

    Thanks for the lesson. Just a quick aside... Do you think one should really learn to strum with a pick or is that not necessary?

    • @Relaxandlearnguitar
      @Relaxandlearnguitar  Рік тому +2

      I encourage it because it opens up a way to be much more dynamic. But it is not a have to. Lots of folks just strum with their fingers/nails

      I've been strumming using just thumb and can do this song. But I will admit learning to use a pick does make it easier to get to those root notes. Unfortunately, using a pick is not in my musical toolbox. But however you play it, this is a fun song to do. 😊

    I wonder if you could help me. I love to play on capo 3. If I want to play a song in the G cord, where do I find the D cord on capo 3.

    • @Relaxandlearnguitar
      @Relaxandlearnguitar  Рік тому

      If you use a capo you still play all the same shapes. So the D chord with a capo on 3 is still a D shape relative to the capo. The capo acts like the new nut of the guitar. You are just changing the key but playing the same shapes. Check out this lesson for more on that ua-cam.com/video/cYet5M0sDfY/v-deo.htmlsi=0vIUO1aVyja7-p8D

  • @bradshacker246
    @bradshacker246 Рік тому +1

    Hi Kevin, love this song! A question about the B D. U D U strumming pattern where there is no 3rd beat base or down action. I noticed when you were playing this, you would pause your hand in the down position after the 2nd beat Down and "wait" for the 3rd beat Up strum. As an almost beginner player, do you recommend I also use this "wait" technique or should I keep my strumming action going and not hit the strings on 2 Up or 3 Down? Thanks, Brad

    • @Relaxandlearnguitar
      @Relaxandlearnguitar  Рік тому

      Nice catch! As a beginner I recommend you keep that strumming hand going. This strum pattern is syncopated bc of that missing down strum. So keep strumming and just skip that 3rd down beat.

  • @shannonbeyersdorf
    @shannonbeyersdorf 10 місяців тому +1

    For the verse it goes D A G and then D twice? And then you do it again D A G D twice? So when put together there will actually be 3 D strum patterns ? Just making sure I'm doing the right amount of strumming of D

    • @Relaxandlearnguitar

      The original chords all have a root or bass note to them. We are just play in g those notes first before then strumming the rest of the chord.

      Its been more than 7 years already still no success today i decided its impossible to learn so i quit even trying is definitely impossible. Will never master it so have to find something else to do. Than to be constantly frustrated from trying. But yeah such is life. Somethings are not teachable i guess
